Guild Creation Issues (solved... kinda!)

Hi Folks.

I was hoping to create a new leveling guild for the wife and I, as we are starting new Horde toons. We have always been Alliance up to this point, so creating a guild will allow us to access guild perks etc without wasting anyone elses time would be great.

Over my attempt to create the guild this afternoon I have garnered a bit of info and would like some advice.

It seems that I can’t ‘Request’ the signature so far of anyone but my wife. Someone told me that this is because they (personally) were on a different server group. I’m on Lightbringer (EU).

How am I supposed to get the other 3 sigs for my charter when most of the people you see around are from other realms?

Thanks.

You just have to keep asking and hope someone on the same realm/connected realm will sign.

Or get your wife to create three extra throwaway characters to sign the charter with that she can delete tomorrow once the guild is fully set up.

Does that work? I assumed that the characters had to be on separate accounts?

Pretty sure this only works if they are on diff accounts… they can be on the same battle net though.

It will work, I’ve got three characters in this guild

Joining and signing a charter are seperate things though.

Exactly. I’m only at the stage of setting the guild up via the charter. Once it’s running, inviting her alts is no problem.

Charter signatures are required to be one per account.

I was recently in a similar situation but luckily had a few friends that were still subscribed to call on to sign my charter. Finding one last person though took a bit of time. My advice is to ask in the trade channel in Orgrimmar. You may find someone who is willing to roll an alt for you or catch an unguilded person who is passing through. Offering gold for signatures can help but I imagine that it is not an option for you if you’re starting completely fresh.

If you’re still in need of a signature and I’m actually around, I will happily roll an alt that can sign a charter for you. Just send a message to my Battletag, CKSR#2169 (I think that’s what it is anyways).

As others have pointed out you need four signatures on your charter from people on different accounts, you can either get randoms to do this for you (some are greedy and demand gold in payment of ridiculous amounts) or you can get friends to create a character on your chosen server and sign the charter for you. Usually I will meet them in a starting area of whatever race I’ve told them to make.

Once you have all the signatures you can hand it in and the guild will be formed. You can remove the random people.

Lightbringer is a connected realm, so anyone from Lightbringer or Mazrigos can sign your charter.

Thank you to everyone that commented. I have managed to get it set up, but it was a struggle for someone who is not used to pestering strangers.

I can’t honestly make head nor tail of why Blizz decided to make the vast majority of folks you bump into in the game world ineligible to sign a charter (as, has been pointed out above, they are not from your Realm Group).

In any case, again, thanks to those who commented and I am now done. I’ll leave the thread up in case someone finds the info on Realm restriction useful. Honestly, this info should be stated in-game during the Guild forming process.

Offering a small amount of gold as a reward usually helps (everytime someone asked me to sign a charter usually gave me like 100 gold as a gift even if I never asked for it, which was kind on their part)

Absolutely, in fact I have been on both ends of that kind of transaction over the years.
However, this time around, as a brand new Faction-swapping toon, I had to go out questing to scrape together the cost of the 10s for the Guild Charter, so in this instance shelling out 100s of gold was sadly not an option!

Edit: I know there are ways to ship gold cross-faction via the neutral auction house, but players really shouldn’t have to resort to that. Plus even if I had the cash, most of the kind folks who did offer to sign were not eligible due to not being from either Lightbringer or Mazrigos. The fact that the information on this restriction is not in-game (or easily found elsewhere) makes the whole process confusing and frustrating for all parties on top of being a waste of time. It’s become a quite absurd situation.
