Hiya.
Because of the “temporary” stop on all guild services, just as we were about to transfer realm, our guild members have essentially moved realm anyway. We are currently living in a temporary guild until we can transfer our guild from the old realm to the new.
We don’t want to lose that guild name - we’ve got multiple social media platforms, websites, discord, domain names, etc, all linked to that guild name, so having to change names would not only cause a major admin headache, but would also be costly.
My options seem to be to :
(a) just hope that guild transfers open up in the short term, and we manage to transfer and keep our guild name (which is currently available, but no guarantee it will stay that way);
(b) assume guild transfers will happen, but NOT in the short term, and create a placeholder guild of the same name on the new realm, in order to reserve that guild name; or
(c) assume guild transfers will NEVER open up again, at which point we would just have to create a replacement guild with the same guild name and suck it up that we’ve lost all that guild history.
My question is twofold.
Firstly - although I’m aware that no-one can tell me the current progress on guild services being fixed, I’m wondering if anyone could perhaps find out which one of the above three options is best for us? Bearing in mind that we really do not want to lose the guild history, or the guild name, but if there’s very little chance that we’ll be able to transfer the guild, one out of two aint bad.
Secondly, working on the assumption I’m not going to get an answer for the above, how does it work for guild names? If we create a guild with our normal guild name, on the new realm, and then transfers open up at some point in the future, how long would it take after we disbanded THAT guild, for us to be able to reuse that guild name? I’ve checked in the support pages, but I came across various options from 30 to 90 days, depending on what you read.
