I’m at the point where I think it may be beneficial to be in a guild. But I wanted to understand a bit more about them before I joined one.
Are guilds cross Realms? I’m on a PvE server however I’m quite enjoying PvP so was thinking about switching realms assuming that’s easy to do. Should I join a guild based on my server?
Do people use voice chat? I can understand open world voice chat is a bad idea but in dungeons with pixel friends I can see the advantage, is this something I should be searching for?
How can I tell the activity of a guild? Some say they have up to a 1000 people in a guild? But if only 5 are daily/weekly active players, I might still be running around on my own.
I quite like the idea of joining a military type guild with everyone in uniform 7th Legionnaires style or something similar. Do these exist?
Well let’s start with the fact that there are no longer PvE or PvP realms. Every single realm is PvE with the RP realm seperated from them.

I have never played on Quel’Thalas but if I am to believe https://realmpop.com/eu-quelthalas.html I would consider buying a realm transfer to Silvermoon, Outland or even Ravencrest. Even Argent Dawn which is a RP server could be something you could consider 'cause you asked;
About guilds in general,
Quel’Thalas is connected with Azjol-Nerub and you can join a guild which is on either of the two realms. However, if the guild resides on any other realm, no.
If the guild is active or no, no one can tell until you join one and look a round.
I would look around [https://wowprogress.com](https://wowprogress.com/) and find out if any guild is recruiting on your server combo, if you are not interested in putting money on transferring right now.

Most guilds use Discord for voice chat in raid/mythic dungeons and I would imagine in arena/BG’s as well.
I’ll also second consideration of Argent Dawn Alliance. Not sure if you’re up for RP events and such, but if you’re attracted to the idea of military roles, you might find some people there.
Thanks for the info. I might try forming my own guild, before transferring, as I have several alts from many years ago, no higher than 80. but I would like them to be on the same server.
