We’re yet again at this point with our guild where we have to remove alts etc for new people and new class toons.
My Hubby n I run a large guild with a ton of people who love to play alts and everything else. This last few expansions, on the run into a new exp. we have to kick alts we arent playing day in, day out to make room for say this time new Drac toons or new people to the realm or game that want to join which is a must to keep the guild active and fresh.
We had maxed guild yet again yesterday so the kicking started.
Someone in Blizzard needs to do the figures to take into account the number of alts we can now have.
Say we all have 1 of every toon on the same realm and want them in the guild
1000/13 = 76+ people…
l my guild has 472 unique players, it’s the biggest and most active with members going back its full 10 years.
So we have to hardline alts which isn’t very friendly and just another nail int he coffin for guilds over communities where you can be just a number.
I know that’s a bandaid for a broken bone and the problem is still there and I agree it should be capped higher, so just a suggestion on what you could do for now.
We have a community group also as well as an alt guild but it just isn’t the same. 18 years on a game and the cap hasn’t been raised often enough. Hopefully, they’ll address it one day.
Would be nice to see an increase. Game has been around a long time and since then we’ve been able to have 50 chars on one realm. Create up to 60 characters. An update is needed to guild capacity.
Community capacity too, tbh. Or let us join as a player, and choose which guild/community any given character will be in from our pool of already accepted ones.
I am surprised they increased the number of alts but forgot about increasing the guild cap. I also seem to remember this being an issue a couple of years ago. One of the solutions I recall being proposed, and I still believe its a good one, is to have your bnet account linked to the guild. That way only you count as a member and all your alts can be part of the same guild without counting towards the cap. Maybe its time for the GM’s to start creating a storm about this.
Kinda stupid cap really. In the days of co-joined realms. We have 6 or more realms bundled together over here. Also everyone has so many alts these days as each patch seems to have a 2 month period of alt leveling as everything has been done.
There are addons like guild roster manager that do the purge but it can be too hard-hitting so we don’t use that part of it. We remove them individually if they have been inactive for 2-3 months. Having a large guild if run well and kept on top of doesn’t have to become faceless that’s for communities if anything. where people can tag along or jump in for what they need rather than day-to-day.
