Guild voice chat

Hi my Guildies and I have been using voice chat for a while and its always been …less than perfect shall we say lol but good enough to get by but the last month it’s been impossible to hear a full sentence without huge breaks in audio and missing half of what’s being said, we are all up to date with drivers etc all mics and speakers, headsets etc are fine, is this just us or something that’s happening to others ? and what is an alternative we could use ? is there an addon for a chat we could use perhaps ?
Many thanks for any help

Discord would be the most obvious alternative. I believe it works 100% better than the in game voice chat and you can also have various text based channels for your guild to organise stuff and socialise.

This is the way to go.
In game chat is ok for random parties where you don’t want a more long term solution.
But for Guilds or Communities go with a dedicated 3rd party product designed for this very operation. Discord is probably the easiest one to set up and use.

Most guilds seem to use discord these days. Just create a guild discord and invite everyone and set up some channels for people to chat in. It’s quite user friendly.

Really glad you have mentioned this. Good to know.

I use voice chat occasionally with a friend when we group up.

I had thought it was my headset playing up or she was releasing push to talk early or something.

This is bad, especially after the previous issue of it turning off after every. single. portal. We would end up talking to ourselves not realising. :flushed:

I tend to prefer voice chat as it is quick and simple to use, Discord is fancier, but I had problems with sound randomly turning up and down by itself. (Annoying and stressful during Classic raids !)

It came down to the media button on my BlackWidow keyboard doing it’s own thing unless Razer Synapse told it to disable and behave. Not Discords fault, but it soured it for me, as I had spent ages messing with Discord settings and buying new headsets to fix it. :grimacing:

But really, an out of game chat board (with voice chat option) is one of the best things you can do for a guild or community, socially speaking. It lets people connect with each other even when they’re not at their pc, allows arranging of events later in the day, and just generally provides opportunity for people to make and retain friends - which is what actually keeps them in the game :smile_cat:

Discord is basically the staple choice these days because it integrates everything so nicely, plus has a very simple button to stream your gameplay should you feel like it.

The CIA reports on there are quite interesting too…
