The Darkmoon Faire arrives with startling regularity; allowing one to indulge, to play, to forget for just a moment.
This time, before its planned arrival, there have been pamphlets dotted around the various Horde cities; advertising an evening of story-telling in one of the quieter areas of the forever-dark wood.
“Share your stories!
Divulge your tales!
Wednesday at the Darkmoon Faire.
Tales of the horrifying, the treachorous, the macabre, the tragic, the frightening!”
Stories are a common entertainment in the many races that make up the Horde; but while tales of survival, of fable and of glory are rife; perhaps this time they will share something a little different.
Ahoy! I’ve wanted to do this for months, and months. The resurgence of other story-telling events has finally inspired me to give it a go.
In this case, we’ll be running with the idea of the campfire horror story. Urban myths, spooky tales, ghouls and ghosts…
Hm, okay, maybe those last ones won’t have quite the effect on the denizens of Azeroth.
When: Wednesday 5th June! 20:00 Realm Time.
Where: Darkmoon Faire, gladed spot between the beach and the petting zoo.
Who: Gwyve will be your host this evening.
What Stories?
In this case, since we’re focusing on horror stories, I’m going to allow not only stories you’ve made up wholesale, but also the use of common or famous ‘campfire’ tales, so long as they have been properly and carefully adapted to fit the World of Warcraft setting!
Want to do the old “the guy in the car behind you is trying to warn you” one? You can, so long as you Azeroth it up!
(In this modern age, this does include ‘creepypasta’, but there’re very few that are not steeped in modern technology, so tread carefully.)
How Long Can We Talk?
I’m going to ask people try to keep stories to about 15-20 minutes. To keep the flow, it might be best to simply speak it sentence by sentence, than have people wait between full paragraphs. This can really help keep the pacing going.
Can We Interrupt?
Yes. Talk, gasp, scream, laugh. Heckle, if you must!
But try to not dominate. Let the story-teller be heard!
Can Alliance Come?
If you have the potions, I can’t stop you, but you mightn’t get a warm reception, and I won’t be demanding attendees use the potion themselves!
Alright, cool. See you there.
