[H-RP] Ideas for the community!

Hello folks as the title states I’ve been doing some thinking which I shouldn’t do because my two braincells don’t exactly aide the cause.

I was open to checking with everyone in the Horde side of the Community if you’re active or inactive, whether you play often or not. Why not bring all our guilds together similar to a Kosh’harg? I have seen a lot of posts and ideas being thrown around with brainstorming and the general idea and you all have great ideas ! We do need to be a bit more proactive as we can all tell our Horde community is only growing smaller and it is a shame to see!

So what if we was to all gather in similar fashion like a Kosh’harg all guilds and individuals welcome and we gather somewhere close to Orgrimmar maybe the Crossroads as Erithur suggests, could be Razor Hill like the PCU suggest!

A whole union of guilds where we can all talk, get to know another and talk about our plans for the future moving on! What will your guild be doing? What will your character be doing? It’s just a general throwabout idea that I think could benefit us all!

So tell me fellow companions in Lok’tar what do we think!?

Thinking is dangerous.

Though I don’t think it’s a bad idea, it is one that has been attempted several times already. These kinds of meetings have been attended a few times before they died out again.

That ain’t to say that we shouldn’t try, of course. But we need to keep it engaging. Because we all know that many people are still a bit shy or drawn back when it comes to approaching others unless prompted to engage.

Similar things have been done where the Horde would do “Horde Meetings” to say what it is they were up to and what kind of RP they were doing. Though it was always very clunky and never ended up lasting too long. It might be a more of an idea to have a gathering with a bit more relaxed purpose? But I’d not be opposed of seeing anything tried!

I am down for the idea of a meeting between the guilds. It would be a great opportunity for the different communities to come together and get to know eachother and perhaps even plan events that can be done with other guilds too. Very fond of the idea, I hope that others are open minded too.

Think Thalassian Conclave - It’s more a check in and I agree with this completely it won’t be a full “On-duty” thing just a bunch of people we all gather up. Maybe some leaders shake hands, talk some shady dealings, make alliances or maybe think of plans and campaigns! It’s an initiative that I’m willing to try for everyone.

That stated, I do know we have the Fireside gathering we also have the 2 x Kosh’harg festivals which can bring about to people just standing idle and if they want to that’s cool too. I just want to give us all a try as you know me Dev!

I know Aru but we got this I beliebe.

Most bay-zed take I have ever had from you. I’m proud of you :sob:

You don’t get a choice :hocho:

One idea is to make a discord for the Horde rp. Spoke with Rakihu about it, so was curious if other folks will be also up for it. To either seek rp through there, or plan events and what not together.

That is of course is people can close an eye from past drama that was years ago most likely. And try and work together

Good idea, good initiative however discords have been known to get messy so we’d have to work in collaboration with everyone we have many discords on this server AD/D, Community Discords for the Ashen Bulwark, GCU, etc.

It would be good if we did try this but it’s also good to be weary about comedy and things that are shared. If people are interested in this we should definitely try it.

That is what the Horde meetings were geared into being more. I floated an idea around with Garathil a few months ago in passing though about maybe trying to organise a military training event for the Horde where you invite people from different guilds to put forward someone to act as a trainer and give a class on how to train with new weapons, self defence, specialised weapons to their races etc. All done in one big area and people can move around and learn so it works for citizens as well as soldiers. I think we’ve got enough posturing and talking about RP and not enough like… actually making something for people to come to. I would really like to have been able to put on something like I mentioned, but IRL is a busy time.

You could definitely do this as the Horde varies majorly in types of equipment and weaponry. Goblins with their explosives, rockets, etc.

Orcs with their…axe

Elves with bows and blades!

It goes on! I like this idea you should totally push for it !

I think that something of the sort could do a lot of good for Horde side, but it’d be a bit trickier to figure out compared to Alliance for one thing besides the obvious numbers issue.

A Horde event where characters of ALL of the Horde’s races would see reasons to attend and chill in is a bit more of a complicated issue to figure out than doing the same but for Alliance, and even then something very heavily themed towards one race in particular on Alliance side has less of an impact to attendance than say, a Horde event being entirely based on Blood Elves or Tauren.

Having said that, something of the sort could do a lot of good to Horde RP. Maybe something akin to the Argent Tournament events that happen every year or so, but for Horde? Maybe a gathering to celebrate something, like a celebration of heroes of the Horde in the anniversary of the founding of Thrall’s Horde, at (Insert headcanon date here, maybe Warcraft 3’s release date?)?

The possibilities are endless, we’d just have to find something that would make every Horde character interested; not just elves, orcs, or any other one race in specific.

Glad to have your share of ideals and thoughts on this!

I agree with them as well. Though I think a good opening gathering to pass through the Horde races of all. Vulpera can try trading, Goblins can try scamming, brawl tournaments and the sort. I know it kind’ve sounds a bit like a off-shoot from a Kosh’harg out of season.

Though I am more than happy to pluck ideas from others to connect something for us all to just do. Breathe some life into the Community again.

Roaming Warbands are all over, they say our Community is pretty driven by the guild-based side of things. So when all the guilds are nor out zapping the enemy why not push into the Horde-terrain again and gather for a night or two then out to the winds again? That is fitting for a roaming group I’d like to think.

I would just like something for everyone to be happy and excited for. We all look at glee towards the Kosh’hargs, Conclaves, etc. So a good thought and idea could be what you put here with a celebration of the Horde’s founding! However, I was thinking as it being a more common thing a quarterly thing where we all wash in together, muddy some waters then drift off to our open-seas of RP. I think that’d be nice.

Though I appreciate your insight and thoughts on this completely! I think this has the ability to turn into a megathread where we’re all shooting off ideas with one another.

This is kind of why I said I’m tentative on the idea. A horde discord for the sake of promoting public horde RP is great, and welcome from a certain perspective, but it takes half a troll hand tops to count exactly how many people would be up for helping build, organize and moderate a conflict-free space whose intention is purely to promote RP.

It’s been tried before and what happened then was that the forum drama decided to move to discord, and nobody wanted to get involved in that mess, so the discord got discontinued forever. And no, nobody including me is interested in getting into detail as to what happened.

If there were a positive outlook for a Horde discord where that didn’t happen, I’d be happy to do all the work of building it up, but as of right now I’m, like I told Kemuro (naming and shaming, yooo) skeptical.

But I didn’t want to change the topic, just shine a light on that convo and my brain.

Somethings are better left unsaid and unspoken about! It is the past for a reason afterall!

Though I wholly agree as I stated earlier; It just takes that one little group of folk to try and stir something up and before you know it you wake up the next day and everything is in meltdown.

Though it would be nice for other GMs to help moderate such a thing I believe leaving that out of the equation and making threads of the forums could be better. Like something we used to have ages ago like a event calendar or one of the rumour mills again that groups are travelling here for x reasons!

While I do see that there are obvious scars from past experiences during the strange times for the community that BFA and early Shadowlands sometimes were, and that it’s far more easily said than done; I think it’s best to brave that fear and make something regardless.

Of course, there is always the what-if scenario of “what if this or that” happens, and while the possibility of some people deciding to cause some trouble is absolutely there (as it always is in online communities), either it’s done, or it isn’t.

More and more people have abandoned projects with the thoughts of “it’s going to fail anyway, someone else will do it” over these last few years to the point that there’s probably more people interested in doing something than actually doing something. As much as it could be possibly rough around the edges when it begins, it’s either having something which could be flawed which could grow into something much better for everyone involved even if it did, or having nothing at all - and personally, I much prefer the former.

Having a ‘neutral’ figure away from all the past drama who heads it, could probably help set things up. But that’s also easier said than done.

As my father says ‘If i always overthink it or fear of it, then why living?’ so if you want something done, just do it, see how it goes. If it fails, not a big deal, you lose nothing. Even if we start small its still something. If people cant forget some drama online over a video game, sucks to be them. As Knells said, try it out, if it works it will benefit the Horde-RP scene greatly.

Well I think overtime in Horde we’ve all had our fair share of controversies however, I do not mind giving the ideas. But if someone wants to make something out of our spitballing I think that’d be great. I am more than happy to push forward as a creator for the Community and help gather things or set dates / times for things!

Wholeheartedly agree. Except I’ve got the willies to do it! I’ve not been on Horde the past 12 years to not try and keep helping where I can!

Well, the key difference between then and now is that now we have…
