[H-RP] Rustknuckle Arena: LF Gladiators!

Rustknuckle’s Traveling Arena

“Come and see, for a little fee! The Stormtender Drokosh takes it up against legendary Tamer Rar’nor in hand-to-hand, face-to-face good ol’ fashioned pitfighting! Tonight at the town square after the eighth bell!”

Rustknuckle Arena is a traveling gladiator guild going from town to town to put their most deadly warriors on display. The guild’s primary activities will be traveling, setting up shows in RP communities and adventure-style roleplay. The plan is to assemble a range of unique and charismatic fighters in a gladiatorial guild to provide entertainment for both members and onlookers. Join and rise up in the ranks of fame by capturing mythical beasts to let loose on pitfighters, challenging champions and proving your prowess in combat. Dynk’s number one rule is: “Challenge us any time, any place” . This means that not only members can challenge eachother but outsiders aswell, whenever they please. If anybody feels like it, they can arrange a fight with the Arena Master and attempt to become legendary amongst pitfighters without actually joining the guild.

The ranks display your character’s fame within the Rustknuckle Pitfighter’s Guild:
Arena Master - Owner of the traveling arena.
Drill Master - Trainer and enforcer tasked with teaching and disciplining the pitfighters, usually a role filled by an experienced champion.
Champion - Revered fighter of the pits. This person has been victorious in many battles and has proven to be one of the best Rustknuckle Pitfighters alive. Defeating one of these will seriously boost your reputation.
Mender- Healers making sure that those who aren’t supposed to die stay alive.
Pitfighter- A fighter trying to make a name for him- or herself in service of Dynk Rustknuckle.
Jobba - A rookie who is considered dead meat unless proven otherwise.

Does one need the Gladiator title to apply?

On a more serious note, though… it’s a cool idea! I like the concept, hopefully you find the people to play it out with.

Having the gladiator title is nothing compared to the Rustknuckle Approved stamp you could get on your resume!

Thanks

Was just thinking about such an idea! Hope you find some interesting fighters!

Do make sure you pay your taxes when fighting on Orgrimmar soil.

Gladiatorial deaths in Orgrimmar are still deaths in Orgrimmar. Keep your paperwork ready for when the grunts come to collect… :sunglasses:

Cool initiative!

Death tax will be paid on time if the collectors ask for it in time

I imagine actual deaths will be a rare event unless people agree to it. At the end of a fight the Arena Master will always decide if the loser lives or dies allowing the player involved to keep full control over their own character!

Pitfights hey? Interesting….

The largest gladiator guild loses half its members in a single day, more at 10

Sounds like a good bit of fun.

Makes sense from a business angle as well. A dead fighter won’t make a single copper from that day onwards; a vengeance rematch on the other hand?

Somebody give this guy a raise!

How will combat proceed? Rolls? Duels? Emotes? Duels with conditions (like wearing only looms for equal stats), All of the above?

I have a warrior who may be suitable for involvement but I’m not a fan of emote fighting. I’d much prefer duels with conditions (even if weighted and scripted) than alternatives.

I honestly think that the classic roll system will be best for this environment. If anybody has a better suggestion, however, I would very much like to hear about it because I do feel like it can be improved upon.

Please recreate this somehow https://youtu.be/FtZcy2ay1ac

Could let the players decide between rolls/emotes only/duel.

A little suggestion, if you haven’t considered it yet: themed fights! I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to see two orcs - the one dressed as a gnome, the other a goblin - duking it out.

Or maybe something like in Highmaul, where the battle is meant to tell a story of sorts (in Highmaul’s case, the fight between the players and the saberon was meant to tell the story of Imperator Mar’gok’s victory over the orcs in the Battle of Red Spires).

Agreed. If you need a fight to be equal surely this can be achieved via set gearing, or combine rolls with a duel. I just think if you’re wanting fights to be spectator sport, then having something to watch other than reading text will probably work best. Not all duels have to be random outcome pvp, you can still script them!

Definitely something I won’t stand in the way of. As long as both parties agree to any way of combat it’s all good in the hood.
