“Your time is up. They are coming for you. It’s too late to run, don’t pray to keep your life, pray it’s taken from you swiftly and painless.”
The Shadow Sanctuary
Born from people’s darkest desires, the shadow sanctuary acts on the feelings of those that want to remove someone from this plane of existence. Whether it is for personal gain, jealousy, or simply anger, any reason can lead to contacting the Shadow Sanctuary. They are made up of people from all over Azeroth, whether they are Trolls, Forsaken, Humans, man or woman, they all serve one purpose: To complete the contract with the least amount of savagery possible.
“You wish to contact the Shadow Sanctuary? Be careful what you wish for boy, once that life has been taken, it’s the guilt that rests upon your shoulders that will bury you along with him.”
Not everyone wishes someone dead, others wish to do the killing themselves and seek to join these assassins. They can make this known to the Shadow Sanctuary by making the trip to Witch Hill in Dustwallow Marsh at sundown. If your intentions are sincere, there will be a prisoner there. Slay him or her in any way you see fit. Then leave. You will be contacted.
Ranks
Master Assassin: This is the highest rank within the guild given only to the GM and Officers. People can attain it after proving themselves to the Sanctuary by completing the most dangerous contracts.
Assassin: The rank of a fully fledged member of the Sanctuary, trusted with the more dangerous contracts. These members can operate without the need to be supervised, and can take on contracts by themselves.
Murderer: You are well on your way to becoming an Assassin. Your contract difficulty will increase but you will have to wait until one is given to you. Remain patient, don’t wash the blood of your hands just yet.
Disciple: Having completed your first few contracts alone, you are taking the first steps into becoming a feared assassin on the lands of Azeroth.
Initiate: You have had your first contract together with your assigned mentor and you have been found acceptable. You show promise, but you have a long way to go.
Proven: Was it easy to kill an unarmed prisoner? You’ve taken your first step into joining the Shadow Sanctuary. You are not yet trusted, but you have proven your ability to kill. A mentor will soon contact you.
OOC Info
The Shadow Sanctuary is a mysterious assassin’s guild that takes on contracts from all kinds of clients. The setup of the guild works like any mercenary guild in that it either takes on real player targets, or weekly PvE target events.
Important Stuff
- Isolation: As an assassin, you don’t go around cities being all edgy and shady. An assassin of the Shadow Sanctuary stays out of sight whenever they can. If they do move between the crowd they do so in disguise through various means (Illusion spells, civilian clothing, acting non-assassin-like).
- Eligibility: Any race is allowed in the guild, there are no limits on whether you are an Orc or a Pandaren for that matter. (Tauren are frowned upon due to their immense stature, but this can of course be justified by you OOCly or ICly.) Gender also doesn’t matter, we don’t discriminate. It’s your skills that count.
- Class Preference: Rogue and Hunter classes are preferred due to their stealth capabilities. Mages are an option as well as they can assassinate in their own ways. Other classes are allowed in when they can prove their mettle through progressing with contracts successfully. But they will be kept under close watch.
- Responsibility: Joining a criminal type guild brings consequences with it. Should you be discovered during a contract or recognized on the street somehow (No meta!) you will have to make it out alive. Remember though that injury or even death could follow. Joining the Shadow Sanctuary could eventually result in your character’s death ICly.
What Do Events Look Like
-
PvE: I, another member, or an outsider, can write an event by creating a contract and then I select a couple of assassins to take care of it. Depending on the event, we might have to dodge traps, prevent being ambushed, or stay out of sight etc. Should the initial kill attempt fail, an actual battle will ensue. We can also be asked to assist another guild by taking someone out (PvE or PvP) to make their life easier. Death or serious injury is always looming. There is always room for everyone’s unique abilities.
-
PvP: Larger events might involve an actual player kill. This will require coordination on a larger scale and might take a couple of days to complete depending on everyone’s availability.
Where do I sign up?
-
Requesting the death of a PvE target: This can be done by heading to a dead-drop in Ratchet. There is a marked grave near the Broken Keel Tavern. Turn it 90 degrees against the clock and bury a letter there, describing your target’s whereabouts and what they look like. Then, place an hourglass on the sand above, filled with a few milliliters of your own blood and turn it upside down. Then you simply wait. (Please inform us OOCly of your actions so the RP can actually commence).
-
Requesting the death of a Real player Target: This one is a bit more tricky. It goes pretty much the same as above, with one big difference. The target needs to be 100% okay with your contract on his head and we will stay in continuous OOC conversation through whispers/letters confirming the event will take place. We do -not- randomly kill real players, this is done to prevent harassment or powerplay.
-
Joining the Shadow Sanctuary: This has been described in an earlier paragraph. However, it is imperative you contact me Jinkusu OOCly to make me aware of your desire to join. We will then set up the necessary things to make it happen.
