[H-RP Storyline/Noticeboard] The Quilboar Raids

A piece of paper is pinned to the Noticeboards in Orgrimmar, Razor Hill, Sen’jin village as well as Crossroads. It has been signed by the Durotar Pig farmers from region of Southfury Watershed and Thunder Ridge.

To all citizens, farmers and members of the Horde, as well as to the mercenary groups, adventurers groups and warbands. During the last months a Pig Farmers from Southfury region had to deal with the threat of Quilboar raids. While this isn’t something out of the ordinary.

The raids which we hadto deal with are highly organized and brutal. It all started week after the ceasefire between the Horde and the Alliance. When some of the farmers from the regions were dispatched home. Among them was a long-lived veteran of many wars, Korfar Steelteeth as well as his sons and his son’s wives. Mate of Korfar took care of his five grandchildren during the War. It was a big and respected family in the Southfury.

That was until the dawn, where Korfar and his mate were found dead and mutilated in their own pig farm. The scene of crime was all with then fresh blood. To put it well, it was horrible scene. But there were three details which the investigator grunts who meet our milita shared with us. One, there were no corpses of Korfar’s sons, son’s spouses and their children. Two, the pigs of Korfar’s farm were nowhere to be seen, there were vague trails which lead nowhere. Three, there were a strange mugs all filled with the blood. While it sounded occultic to me, the investigator later said that there were thorns, floating in the mug.

Suffice to say, this case wasn’t solved. Aside from reasonable suspicon that these were Quillboars behind all of this. Farmer militia and the grunts found one of the nearest Krauls to Korfar’s farm and then we cleared the whole place as well as captured few quilboar prisoners.

After the investigation form the grunts it was revelaed that some of the Quilboar followed some sort of the Warlord. But they were somehow unable to reveal the name. All that grunts learned was that warlord was he. That he was known by title of „The Cunning One.” and that he was very feared.

Due to circumstances in which we’ve learned about this Quillboar warlord, we’ve decided to call him Mug the Cunning.

Southfury Farmers militia organized further raids to Quilboar Krauls around Korfar’s farm in search for answers. Much to an irony quilboars understanding our tounge caught up the name of Mug and even started to refer to the Warlord by that name as well. Suffice to say, this didn’t yield any further details and the case was on hold until more resources could be spared on Soutfury Region.

But, this wasn’t over. Nine more attacks followed from this time. Each brutal and horrible. But as we write this announcement to you, it is November Nineteenth.

The eleventh attack took place. The night between Eighteenth and Nineteenth a fire was spotted on farm of Widow Argma. Argma was widow with two young children and because of that she was assigned three Milita guards consisted from her own friends or friends of her dead husband.

The group of ten Southfury Militia was also dispatched to deal with the fire or any threat which might have caused it. As one of the survivors describes:

„As we headed closer to the farm. We heard screams, orcish and trollish screams. And the smell of buring flesh. And soon the squaks followed, from far. They as if… laughed at the scene. As we drew closer we saw. The whole farm building was enveloped in thorns, and these thorns were on fire. Inside we were hearing the screams of the Widow, and others…

Then we saw them. The group of nine quilboars, all armored in some sort of very durable metal, perhaps mithril. As soon as they saw us their leader screamed. These quilboars, they formed ranks. We… knew that they were organized and disciplined. But, they were so swift. They surrounded us and started to stab others who were in front of me, they tried to fight back. Zen’kaj even killed one with a pitchfork into the skull, but they killed him. They killed all, except the two of us… I was wounded and then… I woke up, here.”

After the night ended, we’ve sent the group twenty of militants along with five grunts. What we found was house burned to crisps. Only stone foundations remained as well as skeleton of Quilboar thorns. There were no bodies of militants or dead quilboar to be found. Pigs were also gone. There were no leading tracks to be found. The only corpses which were found were the ones of the Widow, her children and the three militia guards which were meant to protect her.

The second survior’s words give some light on the motives of the Quilboar.

„I was noked out colt at de beginning of da battla. Den I wake up, colt around, feel no clotes and see da piggamons standing before me. I turn ma head and see Hemur(note: The first survivor.). Den da piggman lookah at ma and sais. Deliveh da message that da raids won’t end till all of boar loa spawns are free. Den remember notin aside from waking up here.”

The two survivors were found four kilometers from the Argma’s farm. The investigation is still in effect. But that is clear that the Quilboars under Mug have motives related in freeing what we believe are Pigs. Which are considered by them to be children of their god, Agamaggan.

Now you all might wonder why the Southfury Pig Farmers went this far to place this extensive report on the Noticeboard. That is because these attacks will continiue if nothing is done. The Horde doesn’t have resources to care about the Southfury threats unless it becomes a large one. What we’ve seen that is what the raids indicate. Mug and his Quilboars have declared the war on us. With the today raid. The eleven farms were lost to them. With casualties of sixty-one people! What previous night and the all raids have shown us is that they are disciplined. Can form organized unit and are well-equiped!

I call all units, adventurers of the Horde, warbands or else to help us deal with the problem! The Southfury region is at stake! Those who wish to visit Southfury or pass the region without intention of fighting should avoid it. As long as Mug the Cunning ans his Razormane followers raid. None of us will be safe.

That is all, the citizens, the adventurers and the warbands. Let us hope that this threat will be dealt with, and no more lives are lost.

For the Horde,
Southfury Farmers and Southfury Militia Representative Helkar.

OOC Info:

This piece of report which you had a chance to read was about the thread of the Quilboar Warlord in Durotar. His deeds were now announced by my Ogre Crier for two days in a row. With new information about them comming each day.

The purpose of this is to create a roleplay events in which everyone be it a guild or individual can take part in. It was inspired by my Ogre Crier character which announced all these news to the public in Valley of Honor. But what if these were real? Rather than spoken tibids to fill-up the purpose of the Crier?

What if the thread of organized Quilboars was real and what if the roleplayers could go out in the world and encounter them, even fight with them?

That is why from now on the new reports about the case will come to Orgrimmar and other places close to the Durotar so that the Roleplayers can see that the world is somewhat alive and breathing, struggling with its own things.

There is also another thing. I need YOUR help. I need somone who can become NPC Quilboar and help me or from his/her own initiative make random event of their own in Durotar. I would also like to encourage the other guilds to play with the idea and engage with the plotline and the storyline themselves. If you are interested in more details about it, as well helping me out in NPCing and DMing as well or perhaps creating a plot relating to the whole situation of your own. Feel free to post it here!

This is a first project of such scale for me and I hope you can all provide a feedback as well as have fun roleplaying.

Note: If you spot any editing mistakes make sure to tell me. I will edit the text as it goes because in such a wall of texts there might be more than few mistakes.

As the investigation continues the case files are sent.

The Hand of Conquest have took upon themselves to see the threat of the Mug’s Quilboar destroyed. The same can be said about Kezuga of the Painted Shields who asked for the case files of the eleven cases in which the Mug’s Quilboar took part in. It seems that the Horde is gathering forces to retaliate. But what will be of it? How many more will be claimed by Mug’s lot, how many more missing?

This will be only a matter of time as the cards are revaled…

OOC Info:
The storyline has begun. A few guilds as well as few independed individuals will now try to seek out the threat of the Quilboar. As such, I would like to encourage all who wish to take part in the plotline to post their individual progresses over there on the Post forum which can be later evaluated!

Though for oblivious reasons if somone wishes to chase after Mug himself! I invite them to the events DMed by me. I would like to thank all who engage in this storyline, it is great to see that the community can take an idea and make their own things with it! I hope we can create a grand story for those in Durotar and see how the story reveals.

So to all who obliviously I know have expressed wish to participate or to those who I am not aware, please post here your own progress and events which you’ve came up with!

The Razor Hill Raiders are infuriated by the reports flooding in of Quillboar violence in Durotar. Keeping these lands safe was their top priority and immediately units were dispatched from the Hill, to deal with this problem. Several wolfback Raiders now patrol by the settlements and wilds along the Gold Road, specifically searching for any leads to the Quillboar menace. They would not rest until these spined bandits were captured or killed.

On night between November 21st and 22nd a group of Quilboar from Mug the cunning clan has attacked our closest outpost. The closest relative to South Kraul of Razormanes. The outpost had twenty-five men inside. By the time of tomorrow check-up none were found. Not even bodies or blood. They are just gone and all that is left are thorns.

However upon the further investigation we have found out the message written in Common. It was message written in some sort of magical ink very familiar to that which mages use in their sorceries. The message contained following content. „For the ones lost in Razorwind Canyon.” It might be realted to the ambush which Quilboar did on the day of 21st of November.

The armaments and equipment of Quilboars were investigated. Gathered from the earliest subjects of Mug the Cunning to the latest. The jump in technology which quilboar posses was astonishing to us. They started out with simple breastplates and armors out of steel. And not even two months later they have steel-mithril alloy with magical alloy which absorbs mana and probably works as anti-magic equipment.

Not only that, but few of corpses even had full-plate armor of the same alloys.

Upon investigating their weaponry we’ve found out that they were made from mix of magical and mithril. The edges of their spears were polished.

Not only their armors contained mana-absorbing properties but so did their weaponry! It seemed that it might have even been used to make Quilboar stronger just by absorbing the mana.

Though now the future and boldness of Quilboar raids is uncertain. As the Razor Hill Raiders and other organizations look into the case. It seem soon menace of Mug might be over.

Aha! For some reason I thought it would be a good Idea to stack up on a bunch of Celebration Wand - Quilboar some years ago. Who’s laughing now, mom?
This sounds great! Sadly I am not much of a DM, but would love to help in anyway I can.

The Raiders left as the night fell, to investigate the Quillboar reports. They used the cover of darkness to remain unseen, as they travelled on foot by the marshes of Durotar - where their wolves would struggle. With the help of their scout, Thrald, they tracked down the location of pigmen in service of Mug the Cunning. They were drawn out by Arn’ot and Karrogg’s taunting yells, whilst the rest laid in wait. Upon taking the bait, the battle begun. The Raiders attacked swiftly and with ferocity - eliminating all seventeen Quillboar and capturing one for interrogation. The night raid ended with a fight with a huge Boar of theirs - which The Raiders then ate to celebrate their victory, back in Razor Hill.

The night of November 23th saw the massive progress of from the side of Razor Hill Raiders. Notified by Southfury farmers milita representative Helkar they were able to learn about the meeting between the sponsor of Quilboar weaponry and Quilboar officer responsible for interception of the shipment.

In the peaks south of Tirgarde Keep, the quilboars have been tracked by the Raiders. As the Razor Hill Raiders climbed upwards the peak with intention of Ambush. The mysterious sponsor and Quilboar officer exchanged the shipment.

Then Razor Hill Raiders struck with surprise! And found out that mysterious sponsors were in fact Void-infused Ethereals! The fight broke out between the Raiders and Quilboar supported by Ethereals. But as soon it was clear that the battle was in favor ot the Raiders. They slaugthered the Quilboar and even managed to kill one of void ethereals before they escaped through the Void-rift.

After the battle they managed to capture the Quilboar Officer - Hogglesnout the First as well as four crates of void-infused weaponry along with the mysterious black box which bursted the void energy upon the opening.

Sergant Uragar realized that the box was dangerous and only capable warlock from the Cleft of Shadows could open it safely or at least help understand the contents of it so Raiders Sergant rushed to the Capital. As for the others, they secured the cartes with weapons and took Quilboar officer to Watch Tower of Razor Hill for interogation.

Interogation of Hogglesnout revealed that Mug will is deliverd by mysterious Heralds. Which contact with the officers about what they should do. The ideology of Quilboar is also revealed as the interogation moves forward. Along it a ramblings about orcish slavery of Agammaggan’s children. Yet aside from information about the Heralds, Quilboar offficer wasn’t so useful to them.

The new revelations saw light of truth as Dragonmaw Warlock from the Cleft unlocked the box safely so that they could see its contents. It turned out to be an egg of infinite dragon. Then it all came to the Raiders, the reason of how Mug the Cunning was so evasive. Though a theory in mind of their Sergant, the egg of infinite dragon allowed one to see the visions of future. And theory was that Mug was abole to avoid getting tracked for so long was because he used time itself to see into the future.

The Razor Hill Raiders have a great power in their hands. But how will they use it?

The information has been pinned to the Noticeboard around the cities of Durotar, Mulgore and Barrens.

The information has been reveled. Between November of 29th and November 30th. The group of the Criers looking personally for the information about the Barrens problems were kiddnapped! On the night between two days upon which the three cries and their escort of six grunts tried to make their way back to Durotar and the capital were intercepted on the road by group of void ethereals. The fight broke out between the grunts and around eight void-infused energy beings. The result was the kidnapping of the Criers, death of four grunts and survival of two which were gravely wounded but survived to tell the tale. The survivor grunt described attack as swift and precise. And the fight was over as soon as it begun. Whoever these void ethereals were, they were most elite fighters these grunts faced.

Soon, the further investigation of the kidnapping of three Criers and death of four grunts have shown that that the ethereal responsible for the case were known as the Shadowguard. Or at least that was stated by the Ethereal Protectorate and Ethereal Consorcium members which helped the investigation. The case of kidnapping is still to be resolved by the Authorites.

List of kidnapped Cries:

Zerikk Steelvoice, goblin crier in the Valley of Strength.

Jujro, Zandalari crier in the Valley of Spirits.

Mar’tok, Ogre crier in the Valley of Honor.

The investigation also yielded that the same void ethereal proivided void-infused weaponry and items to the soldiers of Warlord Mug the Cunning. A notorious warlord which scourged the region of Southfury Wathershred. Hopefully, the threat of Mug and his follies will end once and for all. To enforce that, a prize has been raised. Mug head is worth five hundred gold pieces to anyone who will find and slay him. The same about the leader of the void ethereals which kidnapped the Criers. To all adventurers, to all grunts, to anyone who is capable. Hunt down the Scourge of the Southfury.

After a bloody battle, the Raiders rejoiced. They had lost a couple wolves, but looking past that heartache, they were glad to know they had slayed the wife of Warlord Mug the Cunning. After intercepting two arms deals to supply his army, killing countless Quillboar under him in all shapes and sizes, stealing his farseeing tool and now lopping off his mate’s head - the Raiders hoped he would fight them face to face next. Mug the Cunning would pay for his crimes and with the death of the wolves, it had become even more personal…

To taunt the Quillboar Warlord out from wherever he has been hiding, the head of his mate has been stuck upon a spear and planted in the dust. The mangled head, with bloodied spines, stands in the plains of Durotar, by the marshlands near Razor Hill. As the warm winds flow through the red canyons, they’d brush against this cruel reminder to Mug, to not mess with the Horde. Hopefully this display will be the perfect bait.

The last two weeks weren’t fortunate for the both sides of the conflict. The bait of the Raiders forces wasn’t as effective in drawing out Mug as they hoped it to be. Instead the small forces of quilboar openly skrimished with the Horde forces in the Southfury Watershed and by Southfury River. The blood of the Horde and the Quilboar were spilled in many skrimishes over the course of two weeks. Around twenty farms and four minor settlements were lost due to the conflict. On the sides of conflict stoood the Farmer Militias, Grunts and Raiders from the Durotar. Many adventurers and groups of interest be it military or para-military saw the conflict with quilboar as a chance to hone and upkeep their abilites.

The bloody skirmishes were evenly-matched at first. That is until the Razor Hill Raiders and Grunts of the Horde struck at the facility where quilboar came into possesion of precious materials and used them to their advanced forces. The attack heaviest of loses to Mug’s Forces, as after that the Quilboars begun to lose more and more. They even lost one of three Mug’s Heralds during the facility attack.

But the conflict was yet to be resolved. One large raid arrived as a hopeful last breath of the Quilboar. The spotted warband of over hundred raised and undead quilboar with limited sentience. All equiped with the probably remaining magical armaments and weaponry of Mug. The scouts reported that they were led by the one claiming to be the Death Herald of Mug, a quilboar necromancer.

The Warband moved and engaged swiftly through the last two days. But now, the forces of the Horde move towards the Central Razormane Kraul where the necromancer took his residence. To end Mug’s months of attrocity once and for all!

Now, the Razor Hill Raiders will head out to the Central Kraul to finish the Death Herald of Mug accompanied by those who can spare their strength and time to aid them.

This night, the heroic battle took place between the forces of the Horde and Mug the Cunning’s Herald.

Riplung, Death Herald of Mug and powerful necromancer sought to dominate region of Southfury with force of hundred and fifty undead minions, some of them being quilboar equiped with magical items, others being animals or Horde farmers and militamen raised into the mindless state. The necromancer wasn’t alone still, as he had four death-knight like undead quilboars with sentience of their own to fight and protect him, not to mention the abomination which posed as his mount.

This force stood against the seventy-five of the Horde force. Sixty milita-men and fifteen grunts. This was all forces that could be spared to deal with it. But the special force was formed to kill the Quilboar Necromancer while others fought.

Consisting of the Razor Hill Raiders, Painted Shields and Prelate of the First Empire, the strike group had to move through the army of undead minions to reach the centre.

Suffice to say, after battle long-fought and the monstrous transformations of Quilboar Necromancer, the battle was won. All of the undead forces were defeated, but, the price was high as the Horde forces of the seventy-five were lost as well.

Yet in the final strike of unity from Razor Hill Raiders, the Painted Shields and the First Empire’s Prelate the Death Herald was defeated once and for all.

With that, remaining assault forces of Mug were defeated. Wherever the Warlord hid, he was no longer Warlord, he was the prey to be tracked and brought to justice.

Southfury Watershred might see the end of the menace for a long time.

The ending of the storyline is near, the heroes are one step more in defeat of Mug the Cunning.(Help from an alt.)
