[H-RP] The Beastmaw Warband - Pyrates Ye Be Warned

Our trolls are oddly fine with that.

Guild update! Our associate from the war, Ricket Steamhealer, has signed up Beastmaw volunteers for a fighting tournament in Stranglethorn Vale where we have so far faced several richly varied teams of different backgrounds.

All was going well, but we are now slowly being exposed to behind-the-scenes underhanded shenanigans and corruption plots, because who really thought a goblin-run tournament would be fair? And as our fighters are being poisoned or attacked in alleyways, our shaman begin warning us that death is not exactly an option right now since the spirit realm is not as it should be…

Wanted posters soon make their way to Booty Bay and Ratchet, likely to reach other Steamwheedle ports in time. A pirate is wanted, a goblin woman, to answer for crimes of theft, piracy, murder of honourable combatants, and attempted murder of Beastmaw warriors. The Beastmaw Warband offers a reward for bringing her alive and is willing to pay for any substantial information regarding her whereabouts.

The Warband currently makes camp at Grom’gol Outpost, Northern Stranglethorn, after qualifying for the next phase of the tournament - whenever that may be, given a recent pirate attack and the theft of a cartel zeppelin.

Oh heck. Beastmaw back at it with even more awesome content. You won’t find a finer bunch of such quintessentially Horde warriors. :drop_of_blood: :zap:

Having answered their pal Ricket’s plead for help, The Beastmaw Warband found themselves in the anual Cartel Jungle Rumble, a gladiatorial tournament hosted in Stranglethorn by the goblin cartels.
Finding themselves in the tournament’s fifth bracket the beastmaw saw themselves square off against five other teams of combattants.

-The Dark Stars, a ragtag team consisting of a Gilnean druid, a Nightborne spell blade, and a Drogbar brawler, all of which had been blackmailed into fighting in the tournament by the criminal organization The Family.

-The Totemic Warriors, Gor’lek the Dire frost troll, Jukupo a Hozen warrior, and Manu the elder tauren, three friends who had come to the tournament to give Manu his last fight before retiring to a life of kodo herding in Mulgore.

-The Lab Rats, a young orc, and older blood elf warriors crippled in the fourth war given new mechanical limbs by the mad goblin surgeon Dr. Spritzel, and the young Mag’har girl Tatzy who had been born weak of body whom the good doctor had supplied with a potion of distilled pit lord’s blood.

-Alaeon’s Musical Marvels, a blood elven mage and entertainer who had created a team of Illusionary entertainers, the Naga Princess Shas, the Furbolg Yek, and the Dryad Tysa, all of which had been projected to look as attractive and cute to an elven audience as possible.

-Team Coins and Daggers, The hired goons of Gindri tasked with the execution of the Beastmaw warband, consisting of an Ogre simply known as “The Fist”, the Gnoll Reggi, and lastly Oscar the swashbuckling Human poisoner.

Now having foiled The Family’s plan, made friends with the Totemic warriors and lost two to Gindri’s assassins, and almost died to foul play numerous times, The Beastmaw Warband have managed to qualify for the Quarter finals!

Seems like N’Zoth’s forces were not enough to use up all of Beastmaw’s knuckle sandwiches, so additional poor bastards had to be served some as well just to fill a quota. That said, Alaeon’s Musical Marvels is such an awesome concept. Illusionary entertainers? Shameless pandering to the elf gaze? Brilliant.

I love Beastmaw’s updates. Good stuff, gooooooooood stuff. :star_struck:

I wonder if they ever caught that goblin gal…

The goblin gal is still on the loose, alas, but our Wanted Posters remain! The rewards for tracking her down are still relevant very very real too.

As for what the Warband’s been up to!

After the Jungle Rumble tournament, the Beastmaw remained in Grom’gol Base Camp. Once ready to depart, their (Well, Ricket’s) steamboat was attacked by a surprise swarm of undead bats, which damaged the vessel and forced it to return to Stranglethorn to undergo repairs.

In that time, the Beastmaw came across signs of even more undead, suspecting some foul jungle sorcery to be afoot; ot was it perhaps a rogue necromancer or some witch doctor playing with powers he should avoid?

But the undead kept coming, to the point where the Beastmaw had to aid in the defence of Grom’gol against a swarm of troll zombies directed by necromancers in purple robes. What’s more, Scourge assets happened to be in the midst of that swarm, types of undead minions not seen in a battlefield since the war in Northrend. Odd, and quite worrying.

The concerns were truly realised when the Beastmaw received delayed letters from their envoys stationed with the Coven in faraway Venomspite. The Scourge, though not uncommonly seen in Northrend in the form of shambling zombies wandering without purpose, was once again showing active aggression and moving with purpose.

The Warband now sails for Dazar’alor to take a direct portal to Orgrimmar and regroup in order to head north and reinforce their allies…

In the Tundra, it has begun to snow.
The mammoths outside huddle in the cold. :mountain_snow:
The halls are touched by the torchlight glow.
And all seems peaceful up at Warsong Hold. :snowflake:

Rangira slept across the wooden throne; :lizard:
It wasn’t hers, Overlords sat there,
but she hardly cared, so much she had grown
that no one could move her; twas now her chair.
:star:
It was truly peace, so much so indeed,
it was easy to forget that Ty’rok,
once Warlord, now demoted, did here lead
what still remained of his fallen flock. :star:
:christmas_tree:
Twas quiet, until a cry did sound,
long and shrill, a roar! The stillness all but burned.
A Grunt scrambled swift as he came around:
salute, then said, Gorath’s Tide returned! :sailboat:

The merry bunch were happy to arrive,
to find the Beastmaw very much alive. :wolf:
They’d raced for time, careful not to take a dive,
to make it here and see their friends survived. :star:
:snowflake:
With them was Ricket, the Unsunken too! :cruise_ship:
They had met at sea as they had planned
to rendezvous again as a fleet of two
and thus reach Northrend as a sight so grand.

Clever Gorath, captain of the vessel,
knew exactly when his ship would come. :star2:
He packed presents, in the hold did nestle
Winter’s Veil gifts: meals, trinkets, so much rum! :gift:
:rhinoceros:
And the beasts he brought, all the Warband knew:
Stinktusk, Strike, Dag’or, Snaggles, kodo bold,
to join their friends and be again a crew,
all but Zarras - for him, Northrend was too cold. :snowflake:

tl’dr: After rushing to Northrend aboard a zeppelin in order to reinforce the Coven, who were being hunted across the wilderness by feral Scourge, the Beastmaw have managed to reach Warsong Hold, one of the few places they have come close to calling a home in years past. They have now decided to remain there and aid the Horde in hunting down feral undead.

Happy holidays!

Facing the Scourge yet again!

Operating from Warsong Hold, the Beastmaw Warband has launched two separate hunting parties into the cold tundra. One, led by Sergeants Koll and Azukuni, is tasked with the tracking down, sabotage and, if possible, elimination of feral packs of undead that roam the land. The other, under the command of Centurion Ronto, follows the trail of a rogue Ebon Knight that has already cut down a caravan of innocent Taunka. And on the side, as a result of renewed Scourge activity, there is a rescued wolvar pup that needs a new home…

The hunt continues!

The rogue Death Knight has been hunted down and slain, but not before she emerged from the vault of Wintergrasp Keep, carrying a strange stone cube. It is almost like a puzzle, revealing different cryptic words whenever the Beastmaw Mystics would feed it raw mana. Its secrets have yet to be revealed in full. For now, a group of mystics and diplomats ventures into Coldarra in search of sources of mana which could feed the cube, while trying to avoid the unnecessary attention of the Kirin Tor and the Blue Dragons.

Meanwhile, another hunting party ventures into the frozen wastes in search of Yela Feathersky. Until recently a skilled Tracker and Outrider for the Beastmaw, she fell in battle during the previous trek into Dragonblight and was raised into undeath, made to face her former comrades in battle. They were denied the chance to slay her and bring her peace then, but that opportunity was given anew. And although Yela’s ghoul was tracked down, someone else claimed that kill, leaving the Beastmaw half-buried into a Nerubian tunnel and stealing the hammer of Vrakk Icehowl, previously claimed by the undead Yela. Who is the mysterious warrior? What does he want? Where has he gone?

Story update time!

The Coldarra mission resulted in chaos. In their quest to obtain a source of mana, the Beastmaw under Sergeant Shakela accidentally destabilised the arcane elemental they had intended to either capture or obtain the elemental core from and a potent arcane explosion took place, finally drawing the attention of the Blue Dragons. Though the Blue helped the severely injured Beastmaw heal up, they also held them as unwitting guests for about a week, until their fate was decided.

The wyrm Ethalagos wanted nothing more than to seize their cube for study and safekeeping in the Nexus. However, through his agents, he knew what dangers the dragons would be faced with if that was to happen, so he shed light on the situation to the Beastmaw:

Though the cube was not dangerous, it had the eyes of a being who was. His name was Henduo Jian, more simply known to the dragons as the Collector. Once a servant of the Thunder King, he did not partake in the chaos prevalent among the mogu following Lei Shen’s death, to grab for power and fill the void left in the wake of the assault on the Thunder Isle. Instead, he took off and walked the world, seeking out items of power - weapons, artifacts, scrolls and trinkets - to one day return and solidify his place as a powerful warlord. His collection had grown much, according to the wyrm, who feared what artifacts the mogu might unleash if he knew that his desired cube was held in the Nexus.

So an accord was made - the Beastmaw would keep the cube, but they would also hunt down the Collector and deal with him themselves, eliminating this threat for both their own sakes and the dragons’.

The party caught up to Sergeant Azukuni’s team, who had tracked down and besieged the mysterious warrior at a magnataur den. However, that was where a dead-end was reached. The magnataur and their snobold servants had no idea they were housing an unwanted guest, but were unknowingly acting as his perfect guard. Nor would the warrior easily come out of hiding.

Shakela’s party was quick to bring their comrades up to speed, that the warrior was indeed the Collector and his intention was to claim items of power - presently the cube. He had already taken Vrakk’s hammer.

After lengthy attempts to draw the mogu out, at one time even invoking the ire of the magnataur, the warrior-minded Henduo Jian finally agreed to face the Beastmaw on his own terms - two days hence at twilight, in the faraway arena of the Scourge-infested Zul’Drak. There he would have his honourable combat with the blademaster Azukuni herself.

And so the Beastmaw scrambled to somehow reach Zul’Drak in two days…

I am sure that trusting this Mogu completely will result in a fine and upstanding single combat, as a matter of honor.

Zul’Drak was a trap. Fooled by the treacherous Mogu, it was not him that Azukuni faced in single combat, but a Zandalari henchman of his, a Dire Troll with strong loyalties to Zul’s old pact. Though difficult, the fight was won by Azukuni, but not before the Troll managed to alert the hordes of feral undead.

The Beastmaw were forced to flee from the ghouls, zombies and abominations, maneouver past nerubian ambushes and secure a safe, secluded shelter for one night, in which they recovered as best as they could. On the next day, they made their way across Zul’Drak in stealth, past plague-soaked ruins and the shambling remains of Frost Trolls. At last, Grizzly Hills offered a safe haven.

When the Warband finally reached the anchored Gorath’s Tide, they were met by an alarming sight: the ship was on fire! It turned out that while the bulk of the Warband was busy surviving in Zul’Drak, the Collector had approached the Tide, set the upper deck on fire and, amidst the chaos, entered the ship’s hold to loot items of value. Though confronted and forced to surrender Vrakk’s stolen hammer (and the arm which wielded it), he managed to flee with a number of other items, stored away in the Beastmaw caches of supplies…
