[H-RP] Wolves of Strife - The call to all Warsongs! ⚔ [Recruitment open]

Wolves of Strife
Sub-force of the Warsong Outriders

Fierce orcs of the Warsong Clan, locked in battle against the Kaldorei sentinels in Ashenvale, protecting the Horde’s lumber operations.

The Warsong clan is one of the more aggressive and reckless orc clans from their homeworld of Draenor, if not the most. Their thirst for battle and conquest is legendary amongst the Orcish people, and perhaps most legendary is their former Chieftain, Grommash Hellscream. To be Warsong, means to be unbreakable. Indomitable.

The tales of the Warsong are known by all Orcs, and they will never be forgotten. So vast is the legacy of the Clan, that Grom and his warriors forged with their deeds during the wars.

To this day, a presence of the great Clan still exists in the shape of a force, known as the Warsong Outriders. Lead by Battlemaster Gargok, the Outriders strike swiftly and decisively against the bases and outposts of the Kaldorei, much like they did against the Humans in the past. One of their purposes, is to protect and maintain the logging operations of the Horde. Established by Grommash Hellscream himself, the Warsong Lumber Camp is their main base of operation, and from there, they lunge out against the sentinels that seek to thwart the Horde from claiming the resources of Ashenvale.

Who are they?

The Wolves of Strife is a sub-unit of the Warsong Outriders, ultimately under the authority of Battlemaster Gargok. It exists to aid the Horde in battles across the world, as a unit of mobile wolfriders, capable of delivering a swift end to their enemies.

The initial idea is to amass a band of Orcs in the spirit of the Warsong Clan, during the first, second and third wars. Much like the current Dragonmaw situation, there is no pinpointed leader, so to stick with what the game has led us to believe, the conclusion fell upon Battlemaster Gargok, as the most prominent figure of authority.

A little OOC info

I have a long history of roleplaying Orcs on this server, and more specificly, a Warsong Orc. The Clan has always held a special place in my heart, especially Grommash and Garrosh Hellscream. The idea sprung to my head, on a random day at a random hour, to create a guild focused around this last remnant of the true Warsong Clan.

What do I expect from this?

In truth, I imagine this to be a smaller, side-ish project. A hub for fellow Warsongs to gather, and do battle in the way they prefer the most. On wolfback. I have yet to determine a few things about the guild. But to avoid the ball coming to a halt, best get it rolling now and see how it goes.

Warsong Orcs, Warsong Orcs and Warsong Orcs

The subject speaks for itself, really. Orcs only, Warsong only. No Orc clans out there rival the effiency of the Warsong wolfriders. Both green and brown Warsongs are welcome.

Events, Campaigns… You name it!

Personally, I have a lot of experience in hosting events. But it’s been a while, and there’s bound to be some rust in the wheels, but that can be worked off. If the wind catches the sail of this project, I would want nothing more than to go with the flow. If that means joining Rp-PvP, Rp-PvE campaigns, so be it. It’ll up for the guild as a whole to decide, though.

Ranks, i.e Hierarchy

  • Packleader (GM)

    • Through fiery determination and unwavering duty to the Warsong Clan, might you then be granted a small opportunity to be named such. A pack of Warsong is a terrifying visage to behold, let alone spear-headed by an equally ferocious figurehead. A skilful tactician and renowned warrior, it is he who ultimately leads the unit both on and off the battlefield.
  • Overseer [Officer Role: Occupied]

    • The judgemental gaze and extended arm of the Packleader - it is he who will be your first obstacle within joining the unit. An Orc who’s remained steadfast at the forefront of Ashenvale for many years, seeing untold amounts of conflict within the looming gulch. You will learn, and learn fast else to falter under the weight of the Warsong standard.
  • Den Mother [Officer Role: Occupied]

    • You’ll not easily find a more protective presence to both orc and wolf alike. Many have bear witnessed to such an Orc, being able to fashion a strong bond with the most stubborn and fearsome of beasts. It is believed that her heart truly lies within kinship and loyalty, always seeking to better the Warsong name, revered always for its skilled Wolfriders. Though these primal instincts usher into savagery with little hesitation, following her children proudly into battle.
  • Warsingers

    • Mighty heralds of battle and death - they’re the hand picked, ascending from the Outriders to dispense command and teach discipline amongst the ranks, answerable to none but the Packleader in battle. They’re the symphony of the thundering Warsong of old, their will unbreakable, their songs legendary.
  • Outriders

    • You’ve survived long enough to be deemed the elite of the unit - be this by skill or sheer luck it comes without apology, recognised by the Packleader for your steadfast ferocity amidst countless battles. You’ve reached the pinnacle of Warsong standard, earning unwavering respect from those beside you and those who’re below you.
  • War Riders

    • When a rider of the Pack further solidify their place, with deeds and proof of their indomitable will, they become War Riders. These bloodthirsty warriors are beacons of Warsong might and fury. Nothing stands in their way, and anything that does will be struck or ridden down.
  • Raiders

    • For those who’ve asserted themselves and found a beginning to their song - they’re the very foundation for the unit and the bulk of the Warsong forces, however still applied with relentless scrutiny to uphold the standard expected of them. They’ve a long way to go.
  • Newbloods

    • They’ve sought out the Warsong and found themselves at the first steps towards a path of glory. Though make no mistake, you will be weighed and measured for worth, should you even survive long enough to find it.

Uniforms?

No strict suit of armour. But the Warsong travel light, that is a fact known to all Orcs of the Clan. Favouring quick and elusive manouvers, so all things “over the top” heavy, is likely to be frowned upon and cause issues.

HQ, Main base of Operations

Warsong Lumber Mill, and Mor’shan. Such is stated on the lore pages of the Outriders. If it’ll only be one, or shifting between the two, time will tell.
Maybe even go as far, as using settlements in Draenor for potential hubs while “IC being somewhere else.” It’s all up for discussion.

Absolutely! The Warsong theme interests me a lot. Because of having many irons in the fire right now I’ll just keep an eye out for how things takes off, good luck! I hope this goes well and hopefully we’ll meet in-game somewhere.

Also I have a question! Would you be able to tell a bit more of the alignment you have in mind for the guild? Borrowing D&D terms would you imagine its operation lawful evil for example - and where would they fall within the current Horde?

Also what kinds of activities might you have in mind to add more depth and life to the guild rp outside skirmishes or would the focus as a small guild (’side-ish project’ as you put it) be on events?

Seems like a solid and fun concept! Best of luck!

Very cool initiative, reminds me of old Warcraft 3 days.
Also i second what Manata said.

By the way, do you have any special view about what kind of wolf the members should use?
For example, only Garn Nighthowl, Warsong Direfang and Mag’har racial mount. And about the armor aswell.

I won’t deny that raiding and pillaging does sound mighty tempting indeed.

For wolves it comes down to each individual player. Much like the NPCs, they all ride different type of wolves, as I imagine people will have their “favorite” wolf.

For now I think my initial response will be, let people use what they want, there is of course a backstory of how they acquired the beast, that I’m certain ties into the Warsong character.

Im a very, very happy to see this guild come to fruition! Currently in our guilds story we are travelling through Ashenvale enroute to Stonetalon with the help of Warsong NPC’s. It would be great to collaborate though, I love seeing more orcish clans come to light.

Lawfully evil, indeed. A warsong’s fury in battle is undeniable, they will not cower from what must be done, but there is a touch of honour behind it all. As I believe Grom has proven a bit here and there, despite the demon blood. That’s how I imagine most Warsong are, and how it will become with the guild.

Currently the Horde is a mess, but the Army of the Black Moon is certainly not going to give the Warsong in Ashenvale a holiday over that. I believe more than ever, they must tighten their grip on the southern part of Ashenvale. Despite Sylvanas’s rampage, and the increasing friction, someone has to take care of business, or it’ll all just fall to ruin.

I want Warsong traditions to be present within the guild, in terms of depth and values. The Clan might be scattered to the winds, like the rest of the old Clans, but someone has to make those traditions endure, and keep those values alive. I want the Wolves to be a factor in that department, for the Warsong.

Activites are still being thought of, as I go about it at this very moment. Initially, I want the Wolves to be where the fire is at. To be a presence amongst the rest, and do their part. Participate in campaigns regurlarily, when they do appear. Keep the forests clean. Form alliances with other forces, assist them in their times of need. That is what I currently have on my mind.

May I also bring to your attention Manata’s guide on the Warsong Clan here: [Guide] Warsong Clan: May the Warsong Never Fade

I see. Thanks for the reply!

I will give this some thinking. I’ve been happy being guildless so far but this one really sounds like a good match for my character, even if I couldn’t play super regularly.

It is a very good point you bring up that post/guide, as I intend to direct any insecurities potential players might have about their Warsongs, to that post.

It is flawlessly written. :crossed_swords:

I enjoy this, I really do.

Good to see a guild fully focused on an Orcish Clan described in the lore - a breath of fresh air amongst the tide of self-invented Clans. As someone not keen on roleplaying Orcs, I doubt I could be able to (at the moment) accompany this guild.

I do wish you the best in all future endeavors.

The ranks have recieved a fresh polishing, still subject to some changes, maybe even new ranks! But so far so good! Recieving a lot of good feedback both in-game and on these forums.

I’d very much like to meet you guys ic and perhaps tag along for an adventure, even if Rukkha’s shaman responsibilities stop her committing full time to a battle unit like this.
Fleshing out Warsong culture in rp is always so much fun, more people to do it with will be great.

I’ll deffinitely be looking to join up with my own warsong, then! It’d be cool as well to have clear bits of clan culture and rituals in there(With it being Warsong-only and all), there’s some very cool stuff from WoD as well as the RPG about old warsong/Orc culture and it’d be interesting to see a take on how it has developed in modern Azeroth in a clan that still has an actual clan distinction.

I bet you could do something really cool with the wolfrider ritual mentioned in Nagrand in WoD and how Warsong rituals have adapted to a new world.

I personally imagine that in today’s Azeroth, the trial of the wolfrider would only really apply to orcs yet without a wolf of their own who passionately believe in the trial to prove their worth and want to honor old traditions (and maybe the bragging rights) among their clan members. It was originally done to gain status among the clan, which today is vastly scattered, and I imagine while it may sound impressive some Azeroth orcs might even scoff at it as an unnecessary tradition of the past. It’s down to the individual I think.

Edit: especially during hectic wartimes such as now I imagine many would lean towards making use of a warrior soon as possible on the warfronts vs. sending them alone somewhere to a possibly perilous trial to obtain a wolf.

I would perhaps put more emphasis on training with their wolves, practising tricks and maneuvers and cooperation on wolfback as it ties to the guild concept. I think this is what Roklor had in mind too. Learning what the orcs can (and can’t!) do with their individual wolves. Perhaps making some games related to practise to play in the guild (as events outside battle missions).

These are just suggestions!

PS. music classes. We’re the sweet minstrel clan. Also use of the screaming bullroarer!
