First Day Events
Evocation Contest
Location: Ranged Target Area
Start time: 20:45
Officials: Zyretha Snowdawn (Zyretha) (H) / (OOC Raid Lead: Auxélie) (A)
This competition revolves around control and precision: the goal is to score as many points by passing your spellcast through smaller and smaller rings, with each ring you manage to pass through unbroken before hitting the target gaining you a point!
All competing casters are divided into groups, and when called upon, will cast three spells at the targets: the top scoring casters of each group advance to the next round, with ties decided by tiebreaker spells. After several rounds, only top notch evokers will remain, who will be given prizes and crowned the winners!
Any spell school may be used so long as the casting is safe and controlled.
Second Day Events
Archery Competition
Location: Ranged Target Area
Start time: 20:30
Officials: Phaenette Starquill (Starquill) (H) / (OOC Raid Lead: ) (A)
This competition revolves around accuracy and finesse: the goal is to score as many points as you can during each arrow volley; the closer to the center of the target, the higher your points!
All competing archers are divided into groups, and when called upon, shoot three arrows at the target: the top scoring archers of each group advance to the next round, with ties decided by tiebreaker volleys. After several rounds, only three excellent archers will remain, who will be given prizes and crowned the winners!
You will also be provided with a high quality bow and arrows for this event to ensure fair and optimal competition. (You may keep the bow afterwards)
Third Day Events
Traditional Joust
Location: Championâs Ring
Start time: 20:30
Officials: Kalthoren Snowdawn (Kalthorén) (H) / Darius Agrovane (Agrovane) (A) / Brimaz Bronzeforge (Bronzeforge) (A)
This traditional, straight line joust is a single elimination tournament that will comprise of a best of three lances, or first dismount to be declared the winner. Whomever lands the greatest strikes or unseat their foe first will advance!
Each participant will tilt towards the other three times, and attempt to land and break their lance upon their foe. Depending on whether the lance lands, points will be allocated accordingly. The knight who has the most points after three passes will claim victory and proceed to the next round! The points are allocated as such:
A lance broken upon the arms, shield or legs: 1 point
A lance broken upon the torso: 2 points
A lance shattered upon the helmet: 3 points
Dismounting the opponent: Victory regardless of which pass
Lances will be provided for the event by the organisation team in Argent, Horde and Alliance colour schemes. You must wear head protection, but plenty will be freely available in all sizes.
Fourth Day Events
Single Combat Duels
Location: All Arenas, Initial meeting at Argent Pavilion
Start time: 20:30
Officials: Kalthoren Snowdawn (Kalthorén) (H) / Dairin Soltalon (DairÏn) (H) / Izyra Cinderspear (Izyra) (H) / Darius Agrovane (A) / Zerphan Bladeguard (Bladesmasher) (A) / Brimaz Bronzeforge (Bronzeforge) (A)
In this contest, every competitor will be entered into a single elimination bracket to find the greatest traditional combatant at the tournament! A winner will be decided with whichever opponent lands three strikes on their foe first.
Competitors may use any weapons or armour of their choosing, but may not use magic of any form, including enchantments. Kirin Tor Magi will be checking each competitorâs equipment to ensure they are not cheating before they engage in their bouts. For those without access to non-magical weapons or weapons that cannot be made safe or dulled, there will be a plentiful stock of sparring weapons on hand.
Strikes to the head, neck and groin are banned. The use of foreign objects or projectiles of any kind is banned. Any banned actions will result in a disqualification from the event and the other competitor being treated as winning three strikes to zero.
To help with organisation, a small badge will be provided to every competitor that will change colour based on the arena they need to report to for their upcoming bout. (OOC Note: This is an explanation for some OOC organisation we need to do. During the earlier rounds of the event we will have multiple active groups with different leaders to reduce spam. Please join the group of whomever invites you and go directly to them!)
Final Day Events
The Argent Joust
Location: Championâs Ring
Start time: 20:45
Officials: Kalthoren Snowdawn (Kalthorén) (H) / Zerphan Bladeguard (Blådesmasher) (H) / Brimaz Bronzeforge (Bronzeforge) (A)
The other competition of the day, in the Championâs Ring, is an Argent Joust. This is a single elimination tournament using the Argent Crusadeâs jousting rules wherein each competitor starts from pre-assigned marks. The first to dismount their opponent in a duel will be the winner!
Lances and pilums will be provided for the event by the organisation team in Argent, Horde and Alliance colour schemes.
OOC Game Rules
Arriving Late
If you arrive late to any of the games, it is at judgesâ discretion to either attempt to wait for you by moving your bout or participation later into the round or disqualify you from that contest. The maximum any judge will wait is 10 out of character minutes for you.
If you are late to round 1 of any event where the event is full, you will be replaced with a member of the waiting list. Make sure to arrive slightly early, even just to be present online!
Judgesâ ruling on your lateness is final and not up for discussion.
Duels
Duels will be a D20 roll-off between attacker and defender to decide who goes first. The players will then take alternating turns of attacking and defending until 3 hits have been scored by a competitor. Rolling a greater attack roll than the defenderâs defence roll will cause 1 hit. If a roll is tied. Re-roll, discarding the previous result.
An attacker rolling a 20, or a defender rolling a 1 causes the attacker to gain 1 additional hit scored. E.g. on a roll of 20 to a defence roll of 5, The attacker gains 2 hits on the defender. In the case of the defender rolling 1 and attacker 20, the bout will immediately end with the defender taking 3 hits.
An attacker rolling 1 or a defender rolling 20 will allow the defender an out of sequence attack as part of their defence emote, giving the defender an additional hit scored. E.g. if the attacker rolls 1 and the defender makes a defence roll of 5, the attacker takes a hit, then the bout continues as normal. If the defender rolls 20 and the attacker rolls 1, the attacker takes 2 hits, then the bout continues as normal.
From the 5th round onwards of attacking and defending for each competitor, defenders will start to show fatigue, and their defence rolls will be reduced by 2, increasing with each round that the fight continues by a further 2. This is to ensure single bouts donât last too long.
E.g. on the 5th attack roll the player going first makes, the defender after their roll should subtract 2 from the roll, on the 6th, subtract 4. If this value reduces your roll to 1 or below, you count as rolling a 1. You must roll and manually subtract the modifier as a result. Note this means you cannot roll a 20 to get an out of sequence attack on defence once fatigue is active as you must subtract from the number and the result would no longer be 20.
Due to the number of competitors, this will take place across multiple arenas, each of which has clear in-game boundaries. Donât emote a head, neck or groin blow, use of a foreign object, magical ability or projectile weapon unless you expect to be disqualified. We will be forced to for in character reasons disqualify you and score the bout three hits to zero your opponent.
Traditional Joust
Each person will roll out of 20 as they pass each other, following the margins below to determine how well it lands. Should both end up on the same points after three tilts, then both players should roll to represent a coin flip. The highest roll will win the flip. Should both dismount the other at once, the one with the highest prior points wins, else if they are the same, then both players should roll to represent a coin flip. The highest roll will win the flip.
1-5: A miss, your lance fails to make contact (0 points)
6-10: A hit, your lance breaks upon the legs, arms or shield (1 point)
11-15: A hit, your lance breaks upon the torso (2 points)
16-19: A hit, your lance breaks upon the helmet (3 points)
20: A dismount, you immediately win your tilt (Instant win the match)
Your mount should be a ground mount that is appropriate for jousting. Good examples are racial mounts or variants of them. Bad examples would be a shredder or Infernal. If youâre unsure, contact an organiser in advance or send a whisper to the judges at the start of the event. Your character must also wear some kind of head protection for IC safety reasons. You can get some to use for free IC from the event.
Evocation
A /roll will be used when you are called up to determine how many spells your rings passes through

Argent Joust
You will be set a raid floor marker to start from, and allowed to get three stacks of shield before the bout begins, then should on confirmation both are ready, use the mountâs Duel ability. First to be dismounted is the loser.
To take part in this, you must have access to a lance and mount vehicle. This requires completion of the initial quest âThe Argent Tournamentâ from Justicar Mariel Trueheart. You may then acquire a lance from a rack within your faction pavilion and access a mount just outside your pavilion, or just inside Trial of the Champion for a neutral appearance lance.
You must remain in the main jousting arena at all times. Straying outside will draw a disqualification from the judges.

OOC Information and Important Reading
Donât disrupt ongoing events: While this event is often very large, itâs run by a small team who donât have the time to resolve individual drama. We have to focus on providing for the majority of attendees first. The organisers will treat you as having been removed immediately by guards and move on in the event of disruption to the event.
No fighting in the grounds: This is Argent, aka neutral ground and a major event. Guard presence will be treated as highly active, even if the player number of available guards may be limited. Anyone starting unsanctioned fights or other noticed criminal activity will be treated as removed by guards by the event organisers so we can focus on delivering the event.
Pay attention to time and place yells: You should always be able to refer to this page, however the event may have to make changes on the fly when things go wrong. Weâll do our best to broadcast, but make sure youâre paying attention.
Try out the Listener addon: This will help you pick your name out, or when the target sends a message in chat, Very helpful for competitors and traders alike to get information to you!
You MUST use the CrossRP addon: This is so the judges can see rolls cross-faction and facilitate OOC communication. If you donât have it, you canât take part in the games that require /roll to be used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are there no modifiers for the rolling events?: We want the event to be as accessible and easy to follow for as many people as possible. We also tend to see people pick the highest ones anyway, which negate each other. If you need to explain any issues your character may have, remember youâre on a freezing cold glacier, warmed only by magic and whatever gear you have!
Do you think the Argent Tournament grounds are safe for this event In Character?: As seen in the aftermath of the Shadowlands prepatch, the Argent Tournament grounds are secured by the forces of the Argent Crusade. This fact, along with the aftermath of Shadowlands, made us consider the Argent Grounds to be safe territory. We ask everyone that wishes to attend to take this into account.
Will there be an In-Game community to enable cross-faction grouping?: Yes. Link will be added nearer the time.
Is there a discord server?: No, there will be no public discord server. We have no desire to manage a discord server and the event due to the public nature of the event.
How do I sign up in advance to events?: Contact the provided discord account with a direct message, or reply to the forum thread.
Are there in or out of character attendance/participation costs?: No. The prizes will also take the form of medals, trophies, and other roleplaying based rewards, not gold or items as a result.
Can I reserve space for Trading?: We would prefer people use the trading spaces that are not being used for the games on each day on a first come, first served basis. In some rare cases for required services the organisers may place some specific traders in advance.
How do I sign up to give a class or perform?: Please contact the provided discord account to organise this. We will then add it to the relevant pages.
Will we be able to track the tournament organisation somewhere?: Provided with the events are the judges in-game and in character names, as well as links to the brackets where we are able to provide.
Can I sign up other people to the games on their behalf?: In the interest of making sure everyone has a fair opportunity to sign up to the games they want to take part in, we will not be allowing people to sign anyone other than themselves up for a game.
Werenât there more spaces in the games last time?: Weâre being responsive this time. Weâll start with 16, if demand is high enough, weâll expand to 32. Otherwise weâll be keeping reserve to account for people being unable to make it.
