Hacking Attempts

Hello folks, i’m getting requests from my Blizz authenthicator that someone from Malaysia is trying to enter my account, i’m getting similar notifications few times per month, from different countries, does anyone else have this issue? or i’m chosen one for hackers?

Is Blizzard anti-hacking protection good enough or should i start to have concerns about being totally hacked one day?

I would say if you’re getting authenticator requests it means they know your email address used for log in and your password as the authenticator request comes after email and password screens.

I would change password and raise a ticket to advise recent login attempts are not you.

I’ve changed e-mail for brand new one and password also, i hope i won’t be bothered anymore.

I use the outlook alias system, you use a second email address linked to your original to log into your mail account. If the hackers try the old email they will be told it no longer exists. You continue to use the old email on your stuff like WoW, only you sign in with the alias for your mail.

If you use same password over multiple websites/games then chances are one of those sites gets compromised and somebody can access your details, happened to me also many years ago.

This website can show you if any details attached to your email have been compromised and what those details are if u never heard of it before. Always use different passwords!

Definitely the right move. By changing ALL the login criteria it should sort it out.

If you’ve changed your password and are still getting attempts done you might have a keylogger on your computer.

w00t, pwned on 4 breached sites, dammit, thank you !

Are you sure you aren’t using a VPN/Proxy? to said places?

If not, then someone knows your login information and quite possibly your email and email’s password.

It’s best if you change your information & email password.

WoW, I’ve never known such a feature to exist. Thanks Anna that’s going to be pretty neat.

I used it after checking login info because someone was trying to reset my email password… so many attempts to get into my mail account from all over the world!

I have had no issues since setting up an alias

Blizzard should typically auto block all login attempts that differ from your usual login places/country. At least thats what they do for me and caused some issues for me in the past when i was at a mates place to login and my account got auto locked or the system going haywire with D3 preventing me from logging in even from home (blizzard had to whitelist my account for a week or so in that regard)

But even IF you get hacked it wouldnt matter since you could just contact blizzard, give them one of your previous xpac keys or simply scan in your ID and send it to them. They will then change your email or whatever you want as well as rollback your account to the aprox date you thought you got hacked. Unless this happens frequently blizzard wont complain.

Also don’t use that email address for anything else at all.

You should slap your email in here once in a while:

About 3 days after putting my authenticator on my account I had a ping around 3AM UK time, someone from China was requesting access. Thankfully I hit no and not yes, my vision will still blurry. :stuck_out_tongue:

Checked if I had been in a data breach and there was a 2018 December Town of Salem data breach, steam game I used to play. Password hashes were exposed alongside other things.

Changed my password just to make sure and not had a problem since.

Always always always use a different password for different accounts under the same email. Changing it every few months is no harm either.
