Hammer of Wrath loosing execute function in Midnight

How do you guys feel about this?

I am fine with making HoW passive, but really dislike loosing the execute function.
Casting HoW on low HP targets is so iconic for Paladins…

Only Warrior should have an execute function.

Good riddance.

Like warriors, Paladins have had this since vanilla. Always weaker then theirs tho on several fronts. Like having a cast time and doing far less dmg.

They did this in Legion aswell, removed HoW and made judgment animation having a hammer to “keep the feel” of a diablo-ish hammer thrower that their version of what a paladin is. Only to give it back in BFA.

So a ranged attack is removed and compensated with what? Sure as hell wont be a gapcloser, spammable AND strong slow nor root.

it is absolutley terrible they have pruned ret too much they need to keep judgement and hammer of wrath just the way they are. Ret got reworked this expansion it has never been more fluid to play if they go ahead with this in midnight they have undone that work.

In all honesty, I won’t miss it terribly.

In the end its a ranged attack/builder we will lose while gaining what exactly? Our melee uptime will be all the more important with the rework for CS aswell.

So the ranged is lessened while melee is upped and nothing new added to keep us in melee. Same ammount of talents for Pony as on retail (should only be one and that is the second charge).

The BS brainfart that they came up with in the DF rework is atleast gone now with Holystrike and Radiant damage.

The wording is still there on WoA doing radiant damage for some reason, but gone are the talents that made some attacks HS/R dmg + those that increased their dmg respectivly.

Edit: Just saw that Final Verdict does Holystrike dmg so thats very dissapointing. So its an attack that scales with mastery but will not bennefit of being a magic attack nor physical attack just like on retail.

Wont dmg a Rogue in cloak, dmg a player with BoP, BoSpellward, can be parried and dodged, cant be used while silenced or dissarmed.

We get a talent in the class tree that increases it’s damage against lower hp targets so it somewhat keeps its execute function I’d say. I like that HoW got pruned, at this point it’s not a very exciting ability and overlaps with judgement too much.

Sure but its still a ranged attack we will no longer have while being kited. You think they are gonna bake in the HoW dmg into judgment? Then it would do near/or more dmg then FV even pre low health target.

So a ranged attack/generator gone and Rets get what? Btw, i noticed that Boundless Judgment no longer gives 2 Holy power.

Its clear they want to reign in on Rets ranged capabilities with fewer attacks and the attacks genearte less Holy power.

They are ping ponging on Ret design from melee to semi ranged spec and their reasoning is probably more “well if they generate less Holy power they wont go oom so fast when healing” then anything.

Becasue actually fixing the recourse system to a functioning one is far to complicated, but creating new classes with thought behind them is super easy, barely an inconvenience!

We want to have different builders doing different things. Hammer of Wrath became too similar to Judgement. If we have gaps in our rotation in Midnight I’d rather have a 2nd charge or lower cooldown on judgement then to have Hammer of Wrath at this point.

Its the other way around tho, Judgment didnt have a hammer animation until Legion. The expansion they removed HoW on. Oh and the charges…. do expect that to be the set bonus several times untill they make it a talent point.

Ret is getting worst in midnight as it stands hope to god they revert the changes to hammer of wrath and judgement finally getting some no pro blizzard streamers saying it on youtube also.

Revert cs change too!
