Harder dungeons

Hear hear!

No, I was simply implying that raids are more enjoyable than dungeons, and thus making dungeons even less “worth it” makes little sense to me.

I’m pretty excited for the new dungeon mode, some sort of mythic+ or challenge mode with wotlk classes would be fun to try

You’re getting excited over nothing. This won’t be challenging content by design. It’s going to drop Naxx10 gear for pete sake. At best it’ll be clearable in pre Raid BiS and at worst with just random heroic gear.

I see, dungeons in general are shorter and can be done with fewer people, no stress in organisation either. So I guess it just appeals to different niches.

Ah, but it’s a gateway update! Once they see how these dungeons are received, it is of course very possible they will make more and different challenge modes, akin to mythic.

The fact that we got this for a game that was supposed to be a copy-paste museum piece of the past, actual development for some “new” content, is a huge step.

We’ve past a treshold here that means they’re going in a new direction and expand beyond and above original wotlk. I guess it would only be a matter of time before they introduce hard mode for raids as well, provided people like these changes.

My cynical self can already see how they’ll be received. First week the people will rush them, stomp them in their shiny Naxx25 Gear and then complain they’re too easy. Afterwards only those that need Naxx10 gear will do them. Unless we’re get a black scenario where max level max geared players will start offering “boosting” sessions allowing client to keep the gear after paying.

You make it sound bad, truth is that kind of interaction and market movement makes the game fun for client and seller and gives people reason to do stuff in-game.

I wanted to make real comment … but by slaaneshi blue balls this dude is completely insane, not worth even reading …

Exactly. The intended reward for the dungeons is naxx10 loot. This means it is aimed for players that are pre raid geared, similar to heroics, maybe something inbeween. As I see it, it will be easy content and reducing naxx10 id timer to 2 or 3 days would have a similar impact.
If the dungeons were harder than naxx10, it would be too hard for those, who try to use it to gear up, and lose its main purpose.

Anyone, who already has good gear and is looking for a challenge, will be disappointed. There wont (cant) be a challenge. It will be cleared a few times to gear alt chars, but thats it.

Where do you get that gearing up is its ‘main purpose’?

Consider this appeals to people who don’t like doing raids, but do like doing dungeons.

It’s quite large a substantial barrier to form a 10/25 man raid and organize it with everyone being happy with their roles, loot distribution, communication and the schedule that everyone logs into.

While forming a dungeon group only requires 4 others, you can come to agreements more easily, start whenever you want without commitments and you have more impact as an individual player.

Also consider, not everyone plays for raids and have no intention of doing raids after getting what they want from heroic(+) dungeons. Similair to retail, people enjoy doing mythic+ dungeons with ever incrasing difficulty, but don’t do raids.

I see the upsides of 5 mans, primarily because its, as you said, easier to build a group.

However, the content will be even easier than heroics are right now. The main reason will be the huge Ulduar itemlevel buff. The current plan is to buff non-heroic items by 6 ilvl, heroic items by 13 ilvl. Players will have access to items that are equal or better an icc10 man loot. Even if players do not raid at all, they will buy boes, because they will be incomparably better than the naxx10 loot and this will impact any heroic+ run. Crafted Ulduar items and possibly the ones from the badge vendor will be buffed, too.

It might still be a challenge for players do not want to raid at all, but any casual raider will face an easier difficulty in heroic+, than they face in heroics right now.

Thanks for a solid reply, if heroic+ dungeons after gear buff end up being easier than heroics now (is that even possible?) that would be a huge disappointment.

But I can’t possibly imagine that happening

I can see the difficulty marginally increasing, and maybe after its well received, they may implement a retail system with several levels. But that’s too far in the future to really say anything about.

I think its good improvement at least that doesn’t take away anything.

Heroics already drop “pretty much Naxx10” gear. As others have said, I think they’ll build upon it. They’d be stupid not to, people love wotlk classes and want to do more with their characters

#1 Its catchup mechanic, not increased difficulty, it has to be easy/easy-ish so people can actually do that … whats the point of doing content for 10m naxx loot, if you need 25m ulduar gear …

#2 Its not going to be difficult, it will be only HP/DMG bloat, we have seen this with naxx … and we have seen how hard blizz failed with adding new abilities with their season of muppetry …

#3 What items is it going to drop and where? Tokens, trinkets, weapons + few very specific offparts, will be must have and will be focused 24/7. While dungeons that will drop some armor pene wands will be completely ignored. Imagine 8 minutes long AN dropping KT weapons. While Oculus drops plate boots with spirit.

#4 What will be the actual drop chance, blizz said it will be just addition to the loot table, not replacement (or something along those lines) too low its pointless, too high all other content is pointless …

#5 Blizz needs to figure out all of the above, and we know their failure rate, and we know they so far dont give a zog about some stupid classic … and even if they figure it out …
All they will manage to, is kill naxx after one season … and thats AFTER they praised Karazhan for being farmed for whole TBC …

So blizz needs to put effort into something and the best outcome is kinda meh … with the worst outcome is completely ruining whole gearing up … dont forget it will not only mess up gearing for PvE, but also for PvP … and PvP players are already getting borked enough without garbage like this …

#6 Its retail garbage, the whole point of classic was to not be retail …

Boosting, GDKP etc aren’t really healthy or helping community. They just emphasize that with gold you can get anything and sadly there’s a way to get gold

Eh, there are excesses, nobody liked the LFG channel being spammed by non-stop boosts and gdkp. On the other hand I also recall classic hunters selling their loot at diremaul entrance from solo clearing the dungeon in tribute runs, I think that added to gameplay and interaction.

having a blast on ptr at the minute, the 100% extra mob health is great for living bomb
