Disgusting, an engl*shperson in this wholesome Christian forum thread
Still waiting for the Bilgewater cannon to be fired like he promised. Also undead paladins.
the bilgewater canon is going to be fired directly into the hole in the sky in icecrown to destroy the shadowlands and break the cycle forever
I would be very surprised if they didn’t drop some ‘positive’ WoW/OW2/HS news in the coming week or two as deflection. Maybe some easy QOL WoW changes that they could’ve done months ago but have been sat on.
“Hotfix: all allied race weapons are available for transmog”
ion frantically patching in high elves as a race option
I’d love to see those, to be fair.
It’s not a Blizzard thing specifically, but this has already cropped up with Activision actually:

Crash’s 25th anniversary isn’t until September. Pushed out this bundle early it seems.
It’s sad that in a sense, the RP community is also affected by this (directly or indirectly) in time. Most people really are involved and passionate about it. A few months ago, hoping that one day Blizz would invest into some more RP features was a naive thought, realizing that the core is much more rotten than ever. #sadreacts
ok i’m coming back
Funny you mention that - because in my big campaign starting today…

Tbh one should remember that WoW isn’t just the product of rotten apples, but also of passionate people who loved world building and fantasy, including the very people who were abused. It has turned into a wide community that is more than Blizzard’s employees.
Much like we don’t judge a product of art based on the moral life the author had (or didn’t have; ie. we still read alice in wonderlands to children) so we shouldn’t judge WoW on the potential crimes of a group of people who made it.
The people who made WoW are [/might be] to blame, not the game.
unfortunately, these people directly profit from continued engagement with their commercial product that allowed them to sexually harass and exploit the people that just wanted to put their creative energies into it
For me personally, it’s that I can’t morally justify giving my money into the hands of a company which allegedly allowed this to happen for years - and may still be happening. That this happened within the WoW team itself taints the game for me.
However, I absolutely don’t judge people for wishing to keep their subscriptions; as this game (specifically roleplaying and the friends we make here) can have such a positive impact on our lives.
But I can’t keep up mine, without thinking of the people who were made victims by this company.
but we do. lovecraft is a controversial topic for a reason, and a lot of his works (shadows over innsmouth) are impossible to separate from his moral character and beliefs.
we also don’t tend to watch the cosby show anymore.
I’ll say this because it’s my personal peeve. Lovecraft said some wild stuff in his books and outside of them. But my man was also plagued with mental illness and later in life deeply regretted all the racist stuff he said and tried to be better.
That is all. Carry on.
I can’t wait to see how he approaches his apparent comedy tour
Its either gonna be a Louis C.K situation or something wild
I’m not sure what is the point you’re making here, at least in relation to mine?
Well, you* do. The risk is that you damage artistic products and devalue art by reducing it to a conflict of interests, a superficial approach in my opinion - even if Lovecraft is a peculiar case, I’d say, because Lovecraft’s racism is found in abundance within his works.
Then again, even with Lovecraft, most people do not unilaterally condemn his artistic products because he was a racist. Quite the opposite, Lovecraft’s legacy has been re-purposed in anti-racist media and forms of expression (ie. Lovecraft country).
Not sure why you use the term “we”, who else are you speaking for? I have no idea what that show is, so technically I never watched it.
What makes this topic all the more sour for me, is that working for Blizzard and its games has been seen as ‘the dream’ for so many skilled people trying to make a living in the games industry. I feel particularly bad for individuals who moved countries to work for the company, or spent years trying to get in hoping to work on their supposed dream project - only to leave because the work culture wasn’t at all what they expected.
