Has Activision created a Call of Duty account for me?

I’ve started getting emails from Call of Duty indicating that I’ve opened a new Activision account. They started several weeks ago. I supposed someone had accidentally used my email address and I didn’t verify the account, so I assumed it would be closed automatically. It hasn’t.

I can’t contact Activision without opening an account, which I don’t want to do. I understand this is not an Activision forum, but if Activision have just randomly started opening accounts for people based on an internal email database I’d like to know. And I’m guessing agents here would be able to confirm.

Hey Merlinbot,

Sorry to hear that you’re having some issues with your personal information.

Battle.net and Activision accounts are two entirely separate accounts / systems, and our teams would only offer support for Battle.net accounts. Sometimes, a third party can create a Battle.net account for someone else (fraudulently - if they have access to your personal information, or by mistake). When that is the case, it is possible to contact us.

If you have received news or offers for Call of Duty games, it is possible to change this in your Battle.net account settings, under Communication Preferences.

If you have received emails about an Activision / Call of Duty account being created with your email address, you would need to contact Activision directly. I’m not sure if you can contact them without creating an account, sorry.

Finally, and if needed, you can review our Privacy Policy on our website.

Good luck to you, I hope that you can get this issue sorted without too much troubles!

Thanks for the detailed response! I reset the password on the account, claiming it “back” I suppose.
