Has anyone completed MM mage tower?

Curious if anyone here has defeated the MM mage tower and could give me a few pointers on what i’m doing wrong, I get to p3 everytime, but I get to a point in the fight about 8 mins in where Raest is only around 40% and Karam has 10 stacks of a buff which basically stops concussive shot from slowing him, so he eventually catches up with me and one shots me.

I would assume this is a dps check? but feels waaay overtuned with everything else that has to be dealt with throughout the fight.

ps. using all sl gear no mass sockets/ insane enchants.

only have done DH and rogue not hunter yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey. I did complete MM a few days ago. It wasn’t the hardest challenge for me to do, but it was rough. I do think it is slightly overtuned, just from a HP perspective since I did go out of my way to get as many sockets from Legion raids as possible and fill them out with +3 agility gems, as they are pretty easy and fast to farm from Sunwell. I used the regular SL enchants and oils, etc. To me, it was a matter of getting as much burn on the boss in the 2 windows you have where Karam is chilling. Then the rest of it is just put slows on karam and the adds when necessary, root Karam on occasion to get some distance for an Aimed shot or 2 or Raest. The hands and runes always take prio as you probably know and using the pet for that job is necessary most of the time. Since the pet only responds to your latest command once you start moving it to specific spots, its important to tell it to attack Raest again. Every bit of damage helps. I didnt deal with the small adds really. Just the damage from barrage and volley talents to kill a few every once in a while.
Once Raest dips close to 10% is where I started throwing caution to the wind and focused him down as much as possible, only interrupting the hand(s) and deeps’ing the boss down, using turtle to survive a hand cast going off.
I hope my poor explanation helps a tiny bit to help you succeed in getting this set.

I did MM too and basically I used all legion gear with sockets and legacy enchant, pots and flasks etc.

Its doable and I had alot fun dying countless times:p

You want to get raest to a certain % during the first burst. I believe i got him to around 70% everytime. If hes too high you get over run in the end.

I took me qute a bit to down this as MM, more then in Legion (and I did it before Antorus patch) since our Legion artifact ability was really handy for the mechanics.

Also, it is sickening how much easier this fight is for a frost mage, their entire toolkit comes together for this fight - constant aoe dmg/perma slow funneling into the main boss (frozen orb ftw).

Some tips which worked for me:

During the first Karam phase, kite him on the edge of the platform, you can try to do this in the second phase as well, but be careful not to miss the hand add and interrupt. This is so he drops puddles far from Raest.

Altough the guide states to use BL on start of ph 3, ive found it was the best to use it when Raest first becomes attackable - together with pot, you should aim to reduce Raest the lowest you can - unlike many MT fights, this one gets progressively harder as you prolong it.

I went full single target build - that means Careful Aim and LnL. Ive only really cleaved the adds on first two intermissions, the rest is just not efficent. Honestly, the number of adds i had at the end was meme lvl.

Put Karam on focus and use the concussive shot macro for him. Remember that staedy shot increases the duration, so in the first two Karam phases. He can also be trapped and binded - dont just use them tho, especially when he gets faster, time them before hands + runes. You can also knock him with Bursting, but be really really careful with that, the hitbox can be easy to mess up.

Keep tar trap for the adds, but they shouldn’t be the problem in this fight…they are slow.

Start the fight without your pet for the Lone wolf buff, summon him either on second Kram phase, or even third if you are comfortable. But later he must be out for the runs - it makes the fight a ton easier. Make sure to macro /move to for your pet and send him immediately to the spot - I’ve noticed pets sometimes dont go straight for the rune, so this is important. If the rune does go off, the add can be trapped for the whole 30 seconds, but it really shouldnt happen, as you need it for Karam.

Dont use Master Marksman - it can break trap on Karam. Either serpent sting or even crows (which are good for hands too because it will reset).

Good luck and dont be dissapointed if it takes you more then 50 tries - the fight is brutal and there are 3 1 shot mechanics. Honestly, 4 becuase even a small pack of adds which got into melee range will obliterate you in 2 seconds.

I also did it with full Singletarget talents 1121232.
Master Marksman ist fine since you dont do any damage to Karam when you want to trap him.

You just beat down Karam on the first phase without CDs, then pop everything including BL/pot when Raest shows his face. Place a tar trap in advance, but ignore the adds completely, only blast Raest. All damage you do here will make the last phase easier and shorter.
Once Karam comes back, you have all the time in the world to clear the adds.
When Raest comes back, i kept on going pure singletarget on Raest. No Multishot, even when he was surrounded by adds. The damage is just wasted since you can kite the adds easily. Kite Karam with Concussive, Binding and Frost Trap and keep on blasting Raest. Since you are doing this, Master Marksman cant break Karam out.
Careful Aim is great for the hands.
I made a macro to put Sprint into the petmove-command to guarantee it will always be there in time. And dont forget to remove your /petattack macros, if you should be using them.

Did it on my MM hunt, full single target build, but instead of carefull aim i took explosive shot, as it does way more dmg in my opinion, carefull aim is useless after you pass % threshold for it. Basicaly just focus on mechanics, trap karam for time to do extra dmg on raest, same with binding shot, you send your pet to soak runes only you never do it yourself. And focus on raest single target dmg, no multishot, it is pointless to kill adds, they never each your anyways. Once you reach 20% on raest you have execute, from that point it should be over quickly. Key to beat this challenge is Single target dmg, small adds do nothing with so much slow pools on the ground in later stage of fight they should never reach you.

Thats the same logic as saying Explo is useless because it does nothing while its on CD.
If you go the ST-route of ignoring the adds, you will be way better off with CA, especially if you use lust during the first Raest phase. If you want to kill the adds constantly for some reason, you can use Explo, but you will lose damage on Raest for it.

When the real fight starts you wont benefit from carefull aim therefore making explosive shot do more dmg on Raest overall as dmg on adds/karam is irrelevant you are not kiling it ever, hands are not an issue to kill with rappid fire+killshot etc.

But the real fight starts when Raest is active for the first time and CA is working perfectly fine there. Any damage you do in this phase is damage that you wont have to do later, it is just as valuable as damage later, if not more valuable since you can mostly just stand there and blast away with Karam inactive and only a few adds.
CA is the superior singletarget talent, you wouldnt go to a ST bossfight with Explo, so you should also choose CA if you want to go for ST damage in this challenge. Every damage on Raest matters, including the damage from 100%-70%.

I took explosivd shot aswell above carefull aim. It just gave me more damage and you can easily kill the adds without carefull aim.

so many good tips here, speacialy the lone wolf for first raest burst.

what trinkets did u guys use? i dont have many on my hunter, crafted a dragonling with 24crit and 12 mastery and serves as dot, but other than that nothing great. sucking it up with a alchemist stone
any “easy to get” trinket?

The best strategy for me was log out my hunter and do it on frost mage. It’s unbelieavable how much easier is on mage.
