Has Chatbox/Combat functionality changed with 11.1. and is there a way to restore it to how it was?

Up until the release of 11.1. the way the WoW Chatbox functioned (for me) was that you could start typing up a message and if combat was suddenly occuring you could just click outside of the chatbox and cast your spells etc. and then hit Enter and resume chatting once more until you send the message off for good.

Ever since 11.1. however you are now essentially locked into the chatbox; there is no fluid “tabbing out of chatting” anymore and you are forced to send off the message unfinished or waste time deleting it so you can pick up combat again.

I don’t see anything in the options that references this change and it’s honestly been rather disruptive so I wanted to ask whether anyone else has had a similar issue. It’s made communications with pugs during hectic situations rather difficult and I am eagerly looking for a solution, so if anyone knows an AddOn or such that’d help that’d be great as well.

Thank you for your time <3

Oh good, it’s not just me having an issue with that. It’s driving me a bit nuts. Now we’re back to typing 11123111 into chat. XD

See if this fixes it

Yep, the chat entry box has been changed back to how it used to be a long time ago. i.e. You are locked into the chatbox; opening a chat and running forward results in ‘wwwwwwwwwwwwww’ once again.

People used to use the Unregisterglobalmouse addon to restore the game TO this behaviour after it was changed in BFA?

Possibly someone has merged incorrect Classic code into retail.
