Has traveling trough dimensions become too trivial?

Anyone else feel that traveling trough dimensions and different worlds has become too trivial ?
What happened ?
I remember in the old lore that traveling to and from Azeroth was hard . There was something blocking it . Hell even portaling from Stomwind to Ironforge was rough .

The burning legion needed MASSIVE amounts of raw arcane energy to just begin entering the world ( Well of eternity , Sunwell ). Stuff that changed the whole world and races interacting with it .
Medvih needed huge portal and millions of sacrifices to reach draenor , enough to genocide a planet .
Reaching Argus needed mythic artifacts and freaking spaceship .
Even shadowlands needed the lich king crown to be shattered ( created by Kil’aedon , Jailor and who know what ) , or to actually die .
Summoning even a single demon required multiple sacrifices .

And here I am doing the intro quest to get the Artifact cloak in Dornogal and this guy just whomp , throws some random portal beacon and we are now on a new planet , on the other side of the universe .
But wait that is not the end . He gives us a new cloak and now we are able to transcend mortality and become beings of energy .

What happened to those energy requirements , or we went into AAA+ energy saving mode or something .
Why the hell did it take the burning legion 10000 years to invade Azeroth ?
Were the orcs just trolling the Draenei or what ?

Crazy stuff .

Travelling in general has become too trivial. The game doesn’t care anymore if it’s about the neighbouring village, the other side of the world, a faraway planet, another dimension or the frickin’ realm of the dead, here is your portal. Gameplay convenience has become shoddy worldbuilding at so many points…
You’ll get your fetch quest for travel necessities, when they want to showcase more stuff or dialogue, not because they respect the difficulty of travel.

So yes, it has become too trivial, and yes, that does undermine a ton of lore. But at this point the older lore has been undermined so often and so thoroughly that looking back there and comparing isn’t a viable way to find enjoyment anyways…

Yea it is true .
Realistically we had portals to Outland , when Khadgar was stuck there for 20 years , but it was kinda explained at least .
It wasn’t just random mage popping a portal . It was the reopening of the dark portal , so you could guess that without the dark portal it would not work .

Same with Shadowlands ets . There was at least some major event that “paved the way” and sort of provided the "requirement " or “key” to unlock this .

Here I was doing it on a couple of alts to get the cloak and it is just … this guy walks slowly , pops a portal and wooosh we are on a new planet .
No explanation how that happened . No explanation how he even got to Azeroth considering that Ethereals had “trouble” getting to it before .

It feels like they totally went of the rocker with this and decided that , whatever , we are not gonna bother explaining this anyway , here’s a portal .

Well, we have a suggestion connected to ethereal wraps that previously helped kill dimensius first time with power enough to shatter whole planet and while we getting our own reshii wraps the quests are focusing us on fact that it’s a very strong magic material of incredible power
but overall I’m agree, a lot of things is not consistent and breaking everything we knew before

I would say that we simply found new ways to use magic energy, think it as opening new spell levels in dnd as time progresses. As for the examples..

Burning legion required those wells as by lore stronger a being more energy you need to drag them, which is why they wanted to use the well to summon sargeras and KJ, but without the wells he was just able to nudge in an avatar of himself.

Medivh created a permenant portal, it was so potent that even after the frame was destroyed at the end of warcraft 2 there remained a PERMENANT rift. (until wod time shenanigens)

Argus in lore is notoriously hard to find due to how thick it is shrouded with magic, before Alleria and Trulyon discovered army of the light didn’t even know of it’s location.

Shadowlands is fickle as before the retcon shadowlands was simply the veil and we had plenty of solo portals there (dk death gates), sylvi destroying the helm was to shatter the entire veil.

Summoning a demon used to require sacrifice that is true, though even in vanilla that was just a single soulshard if memory serves right, and even then more potent fel beings does not require such due to having well, fel as is.

That dude you mentioned is ethereal ever since tbc they were known for being intergalactic travelers due to being masters of technomancy.

As for the last bit there’s a lore book about the state of being, it’s essentially a net that exists to stop beings from falling through the realms, it’s a net. Getting there isn’t supposed to be hard but rather it’s a safety mechanism. As it is explained in the in game lore book, there are higher and lower energy planes (light high, void low to give an example), going from high to low is easy as just by losing energy you can drop through them (Which is why the said net exists).

In general simple version of it is: Stronger or higher number of things you need to summon bigger portal you need, hence more energy, also not knowing where you are portalling makes it A LOT harder if not impossible. It is why it took legion ages, as they did not know the general location of Azeroth (if memory serves right).
