(I apologize for the noob question)
So I have created a hunter for a few days now and learning about the class. One thing in particular is Hati, the pet from Legion, as I tame it, I see that it only has the tank pet ability, which makes Hati a tank pet. So I was wondering if it is possible to change Hati’s ability or something like that.

Hati, and Spirit Beasts in general, isn’t a tanking pet. Hati is classed as Tenacity yes but it’s not seen as a tanking tree anymore as all pets do the same damage. Scalehides are considered to be one of the best tanking pets now and Corehounds if you are BM. BFA went back to locking pets into a certain spec so Spirit Beasts cannot change their role like pets were able to in Legion.
To answer your question, you can’t change your pets “spec”.
For raiding or M+, people generally recommend using Spirit Beast pets because they, as a Tenacity pet, provide you with a % hp bonus as well as a 20% damage reduction on a 3min cooldown, which is invaluable, Spirit Beasts also bring an offensive magic/enrage dispel and a pretty decent heal on a 30second cooldown.
Generally speaking, with the way things are currently, if you want a tank pet, you’d actually want to go for a Ferocity pet, as these have passive leech and actually have so much more survivability than a Tenacity pet!
