It has been soooo long and people have been requesting this since the beginning.
A lot of us wouldn’t even care about clipping. I really, -really- want my character to wear some awesome hats and have long hair showing underneath. It looks cool, it looks badass. When can we get this, Blizz?
Already, there’s a Silverleaf tea buff you can get from Valdrakken that gives you a HAT WITH HAIR buff for 2 hrs and you can use it infinitely. Why can’t we use that with pirate and cowboy hats?
Please let us keep our hair under hats. 
Let us opt in and out of it in a barber shop or something.

Yeah I back this. My goblin characters have also suddenly lost their ear jewellery whenever they wear a lot of helms and hoods.
This sort of lack of attention to detail was ok 15 years ago, it’s just lazy and bad quality now.

Yeah, hated helmet/hat make “bald” hair 
Need let hair look normal. But if hair had ponytail or mohawk would little edit hide

I really want my Gunslinger-like char to have hair under his hat. It’s been -years-. We deserve hats with hair. C’mon Blizzard q.q

Who remembers lord Godfrey of Gilneas in the Worgen cinematic where you get caught and put in a cage? He’s dressed like a victorian-era gentleman, rocking his 1870s drip with spectacles, a top hat, and long hair underneath! Legend.

Class all hair cuts as short, medium or long. When a hat or hood is added it goes to a generic style linked to one of the 3 lengths.
Is it a perfect solution? No. Is it better than all hair vanishing with head gear? Yes.
