Have you been humbled?

SoloQ solo shuffle is a great thing for casuals like me. I have to say though, I’ve been humbled. I used to think I had the potential to be great at arena, but never cared to find a group to push rating with. Now that soloQ is here (and yes I’m aware it’s different from grouped arena in many ways) I’ve had my ego pushed back quite a bit

Tanking rating at 1400 has been a pretty stark realization for me.

I’ve always been the kind to flip flop between my characters, level new ones, start over and whatnot, but never really considered how it might’ve ingrained some bad habbits. For example, I’m way too concerned with peeling. CD trading is also just a bit of a mess, I rely far more on whenever my health drops low.

The UI is pretty much supplemental to me haha.
I used to think I could at least get to 1800 with a bit of effort, but now I see it’ll require a lot more play on a single character. Less flip flopping, more practice!

To my pleasant surprise I don’t trash talk my team mates though. It’s ideal to set that standard for yourself, but in the heat of the moment it can turn out nasty. Fortunately I don’t do that, so great I guess.

Anyone had a similar experience? Or maybe the reverse, you absolutely blew your own low expectations.

I’ve been humbled many times, yes, and often even whispered people after the solo shuffle to congratulate them for outplaying me.

I’ve underestimated players of weaker specs and paid for it many times too.

There have also been games where I didn’t expect to win anything at all, but I managed to get 3/6 and lose no rating, which in itself felt like huge wins.

IMO if you’re willing to learn, don’t blame teammates and right click → ignore people who are toxic, solo can be a very fun experience.

Very true mate. This mentality is everything.

Most people don’t get humbled. If they fail its because their class is underperforming. Or because another class is OP. Or because the healer sucks. Or someone else is a noob.

They come on here crying that melee have too much mobility, or ranged have too many kiting abilities. Or there is too much cc in the game. The burst is too high. This game is retarded, fkng blizz wake up, fire the pvp devs etc etc etc.

The mindset of owning your mistakes is indicative of a maturity that a lot of people don’t have.

I have mixed feelings. On my healers I thought I would do better, on my dps I thought I would do worse.

I think it’s mostly because getting rating as dps is just objectively easier though.

Considering that 3k in Solo Shuffle is equivalent to 1.4 in 3V3, DAMN you must be having a real rough time. Looks like you have indeed been humbled…

Haha yeah

I almost reached my goal in shuffle last week witch was 1800 since my highest is the same in 2s

For me reaching 1800 in shuffle have been harder than when I peaked my rating in 2s many years ago.

Yes it happens, in BFA first pvp season, we played Rated bgs around 2,7k mmr and managed to loose to 1,5k team we got matched with in early morning hours cause there was noone else in Q. They were not realy good but they had two rogues who carried the game for them with impressive ninja caps and blunders on our side when guarding the bases did not help either haha. Was nice -21 rating for us and that game became a meme on the discord

How long ago approximately ? People’s general knowledge of the game has improved so much since for example TBC when arena was new. I remember it used to be very easy to tell when someone was going to be a free kill because they clicked, backpedaled, keyboard turned or got confused when you broke line of sight etc.

Nowadays, those things barely happen anymore. Those who are left playing the game have since learned.

It was when you had to reach 1750 or 1800 if you wanted to buy a better weapon, it was so long ago I don’t even remember

I was also stuck at 1400 for a long time, it’s pretty rough to get above 1500 if you haven’t played a lot of arena before.

Yeah really just gotta stick to a mindset that asks yourself what you can do better.

yes many times.

I can get 2.5 RSS in many games, some people need 150-200.

Highest peak in 2s and 3s is 2.1k

Ive accepted the fact i will probably never bee glad. Not without stable partners at least and it seems i cant improve past the point of being proactive, instead of only reactive.

So it really is me…and that is fine.

Well, I didn’t think I could get 1850, but as soon as I got it, I basically quit, bc I don’t wanna get addicted too much to push 2100, bc I know it would need a bunch of more games to get to that level, and I’m actually happy with my elite transmog. Good moment to stop

Absolutely. Should only push yourself if you get something out of it. Probably not a good reason if it’s just out of ego alone.

Soo much lol :slightly_smiling_face::+1:
I reached 1600 for the first timed and bragged to a friend of mine. Next day I lost 4 matches in a row, 5-1 all of them.

But I’m the same as you, don’t flame, try to learn from mistakes, and take a break if needed.

I hit 1800 2 days later, and was extremely proud. My first elite mog, and on my hpriest! Haven’t seen a single hpriest besides myself on my journey, so I feel a little special :innocent:

Would love the Legend title, but I’m not sure if it’s realistic with my set of skills.

Anyways, gl on the climp, and have a nice evening :slightly_smiling_face:

I haven’t been humbled. I didn’t queue shuffle until 2 weeks ago and got 2.4 on 2 different speccs in 2 days. I had bad lobbied here and there and went 0-6 twice now but i usually just blame myself and try to carry better next time.

SS was my first trip into rated and I’m very low skilled.

It was the first time I’ve had to learn macros, tricks, the best talents etc properly and also actually understand enemy specs, so it’s elevated my game from the simple target something and do my rotation on it style of BG play:)

I was pleasantly surprised I got over 1200 rating - I know this is peanuts but for me it was a huge deal as was being able to get conquest gear.

I was going to try to push higher but then bugs wiped my rating (joined queue, entered arena, system threw me out, got treated as deserter). Then the queues were so bad the time of day I play I just gave up.

If it was bug free and allowed 2v2 to kill the queues I’d be all over it again.

That is brutal! Never even heard of it. rating loss like that is just ridiculous. I’d try to contact a GM if I were you. Pretty sure they have some system logs that can prove you reached that rating.
