Have you ever noticed there is no night in game?

hello guys
i really like this game,i mean the gameplay is great,i enjoy playing
but visually this game needs alot of work
i know its an old game ,but i am sure they can do what ever they want on it

i dont understand one thing in this game
why Technically the sky still turns to night at night time but the landscape itself stays basically as bright as it is during the day?
why?
i liked when the time cycle in game is at night,i see darker fields, grounds, mountains, cities, buildings, roads and things and i see torches campfires light bulbs lanters are lighting them.thats beautiful right?like other games.
and i know in earlier expantions this feature had existed, not perfect, but better than these days,i mean the time cycle was changing darkness and brightness of landscape not in a perfect state but better than the retail expantion.but i dont know why they removed night completely.
so sad,i wish we could have this feature back and even better than old days
whats you idea guys?

I’m standing in Dalaran at the moment, the Moon is up and the stars are out. It’s night.

Edit:

Just went to Orgrimmar, and it’s the same.

The buildings are lit up, and the general ambient light is darker. It’s not like it’s day time, but I wouldn’t want it pitch black.

Exactly, but you could play the Unbridled Darkness event, OP. Now that is pitch black on your surroundings, all you’ll see is your UI and the enemy nameplates.

The downside is, it isn’t up all the time - just every few months - and is the only way to play pitch black baseline. Maybe some addons can help with this…

Keep in mind that Azeroth do have two moons, so the nights won’t be that dark to begin with.

if anything nights in legion last a bit to looong :stuck_out_tongue: i was farming meat for the order hall on my hunter and it felt like the night never ended

Back in the day it used to actually be darker at night, the landscapes were duller and you couldn’t physically see as far but it was seen as an unfair disadvantage to those who, due to IRL reasons, could only play at night as opposed to those who weren’t as time restrained.

It’s another one of those areas where there has always been a large clamour for a toggle option to allow those who want the darker nights for immersion can have it on and those who don’t for gameplay can have it off.

If I remember rightly there is a potion you can buy when Darkmoon Faire is up to make it darker - can’t remember what it is called

Edit - found it

This sounds a good, easy to use option which allows player choice.

Not in favour of a permanent set up, as I have difficulty seeing tiny mobs with matching background colours during the day. :mag: :fly:

I really like the immersion of rain and enjoyed seeing a smokey Dwarven District when Classic was re-released.

The night time ghost effects in Maldraxas are pretty spooky too. (Maybe they could consider adding that around Brill or Darkshire cemeteries?)

It does have a day and night cycle but it’s not dark enough, I wish we could decide how dark we would like it to be in our settings.

There is a night, but it’s not dark enough. However, it should not be too dark, because it would be unplayable.

First time I was in Boralas it was night and I was struggling to see my way around. I was so relieved the next day that when I went there that it was daylight and I could see ok.
Drustvar was pretty dark at night too.

Personally I’d like options (put it in Accessibility maybe) to turn off Night darkness and weather effects (I know there is a console option but it doesn’t seem to remove it entirely).

There is a night it just lets you see. You want a darker night go drink an inky black potion- have fun questing in that.

I hate games with mini day/night cycles. It feels like it is dark most of the time.

It’s like why casinos are all so brightly lit and don’t show clocks.

It’s basically to feed your addiction.

2 moons the silver lady and blue child

I compared that potion to regular night, for mainly in Stormwind. The sky texture is much different, but the light levels decreased only slightly, even though it seemed much darker, nostalic like the oldschool nights.
I haven’t tried the potion in the notorious Duskwood, though.

I mean it’s like the darkest it gets is like an hour before sunset kinda light. Vanilla/TBC used to have actual nighttime and variable weather to put modern wow to shame.

Inky Black Potion - literally a necessity to play WoW.

My potion expired the other day after I took a portal to Silvermoon
and oh my god - my eyes nearly melted.

Way too bright everywhere

I loved the night Azeroth had 16 years ago. It was dark, but not too dark and even a torch in the offhand changed the whole lighting around your character. At least they brought back weather in some zones after a lot of player tantrums on the forums.
I think weather and a good day/night cycle are mandatory to create a good world and the last expansion lacked that totally.

The potion is sadly just a lazy band-aid, because it creates stars but it doesn’t really look realistic.

Yeah it’s far to bright at night for my tastes. The reason the guards in Duskwood have torches is because it was meant to be even darker in that place. But they changed this before vanilla launched which is a shame.

I would love the option to switch these effects on as well as more weather effects too as the game could do with more atmosphere. Instead of what is more like a bland movie set that makes the zones feel sterile imo

Don’t get me wrong I really miss those days but I can understand the frustration if you could only play during night time hours and felt at a disadvantage to those who played during the day.
