Havoc and the AOE Cap changes

With the AOE cap changes announced, what kind of changes would you like to see coming to havoc.

Personally I would like to see the following;

  • Glaive Tempest included
  • Eye Beam Reverted to how it was in BFA, but adjusted for the new AOE cap “rules”
  • Fix the conduit “dancing with fate” so it properly applies to Death Sweep

would also like to see Metamorphosis CD be reduced to 3 minutes. This cooldown is not big enough to defend it’s 4min CD. Compare it for example Ashen Hollow, which has a much greater impact and is a much more impactful CD.

Meta at 3 minutes would make it feel more fun to use, it would align with 3min trinkets.

Return the dodge to blade dance. Remove it for pvp scenarios if that’s what annoyed everyone. it added fun, I really miss it.

Remove Fel barrage from the same tier with Demonic and Momentum, it kills the talent.

First blood baseline.

This is probably too much, but make the GT have a larger cooldown, but more damage, as it was in the Legion, but not at the cost of talent.

Yeah, agree, especially with Fel Barrage - DH already have so few abilities, and having that behind a talent seems silly. It’s a cool ability to hit, but not worth it over demonic or momentum imo

I think DH will fall behind with all these changes so far. Ok, no AoE Cap for Blade Dance anymore but it’s damage is so silly low compared to a Paladins spammable uncapped 20k+ critting Divine Storm. First Blood should at least also push the aoe damage of Blade Dance so the Blade Dance Conduit would be an option there.
I wish they would also rework the formula for Eye Beam aoe damage a little.
DH talents are generally bad designed, excluding each other like Trail of Ruin kinda useless without also using First Blood or Demon Blades useless in any Demonic build. Demon Blades is even minus dps compared to not having any in this row talented, this is a damn joke.

Agreed, right now havoc survives because of the AoE cap - but there’s not a lot of AoE dps going forward. NF and Kyrian class abilities wont save any havoc in m+

I also feel Meta is very underwhelming as well. Compare Meta to Ashen Hollow, and compare impact of it.

Yeah DH really has no meaningful burst but Meta is still a strong CD for Momentum but not for aoe dps, sad. Demon Blades could get a secondary effect like splashing some 1k’ish aoe damage when it proccs while in Meta, makes it at least worth to pick for Demonic.

I guess that once 9.1.5 hits, we won’t be in a good state unless blizzard implements huge changes in our class…

We’re being nerfed? I thought the only change was the removal of the AOE cap on blade dance, which is a small buff.

Its just blade dance with like 1000 damage per target. You won’t notice it since fel rush is still the better option for uncapped aoe burst.

Yeah, I get that, but everyone on this thread is acting like we’re being nerfed.

DH are not directly nerfed as the change is an overall buff for DH, however, the buff is a lot smaller than compared to other classes - so it’s nerfed in relative power.

The largest change is to blade dance for havoc. For vengeance spirit bomb is changed from soft-cap of 20 (do the same dmg to all targets up to 20, then split) to square-root (lesser dmg per target after 5), but have the hard cap removed on soul cleave.

It’s not the end of the world, but DH will fall ever so slightly more out of favour since AoE is mediocre for DHs and ST isn’t that great. Rogues will do more ST and AOE - they’ll need to prioritize between funnel dmg or aoe dmg though.

So it’s still very much all up in the air, but the AoE cap removal isn’t great news for DHs (also not terrible news).

I can’t see that as a bad thing, to be honest. I’m usually top dps in M+ groups where we’re all around the same ilvl. As far as I can tell, the only dps spec that’s going to be significantly buffed by the changes is WW monk, and they’ll be nerfed again pretty quickly once it goes live.

Could make it work like in the anima power, 15% dodge chance, perhaps a talent that increases this to 30% along with the enhanced blur? could be interesting.

yes.

Honestly, I’d love to see Fel Barrage be reworked and replace Eye Beam as an enhanced version, while they remove the cooldown reduction effect through talents, because that always feels mandatory to pick.

Yes, i agree with the return of the 100% dodge on Blade Dance. That was such a nice minigame to play with in pve. I dont care if it does not work in PVP, but at least in PVE it should stay.
