I am in not an über experienced demon hunter player but I did level up 6 of them and loved it until now. The Havoc spec was my favorite but after Shadowlands release it’s almost unplayable and completely destroys my keyboards. No other class and spec even comes close to the horrible button mashing Havoc forces you to. The good thing is that Vengeance is much, much better now. Both to level and grind. I have a slight disability and perhaps I think it’s worse than it actually is.
What do you guys think?
Havoc and Fury make you develop diseases like carpel tunnel, nothing new though.
So, I created an Alliance DH the other day, she is now at level 21 and I feel like deleting her.
I can fight normal mobs without too much issue, even two at a time but but try a rare or anything other than a normal mob and it’s another trip to the graveyard…
One second she is on full health then the next my screen is flashing red and her health has evaporated, HOW did that just happen in the twinkling of an eye?
I have played wow forever and can’t remember ever playing a more frustrating character.
So far my keyboard hasn’t paid the price…
play with demonic apetite so you can drop healing orbs while using chaos strike.
insatiable or burning next. you should be fine with these and defensives.
these are the best for solo content till endgame. even then until you get more gear.

Thanks for the advice, I have already switched to Demonic appetite, since my post, but I will certainly try your suggestion as she goes
Also, I briefly switched to the other, tank, spec to try that out, and she survives a lot better , somewhat obviously, so am about to go try her again.
I can accept, to a point, that Blizz have designed the class to improve as they get higher level and all, but feel, that the way the health drops is a little too extreme at times, especially in fights with rares or tougher quest named mobs, which is a shame as I can usually do them without much issue with any other class.
Of course it MIGHT just be that I need to get my head around the class more, or maybe DH just isn’t for me, but I suspect it isn’t just me by the amount of DH class is rubbish posts I pulled up on google ^^, anyway, thanks again for taking the time to try to help
well after again dying horribly to the very next rare, even in tank form, I have deleted her, I refuse to play a class that causes me to become so annoyed that I feel like throwing my pc out the window.
Imagine trying to survive in pvp
Blizzard should really consider if it’s better for players to potentially develop diseases such as carpal tunnel syndrome yet have more “engaging” gameplay from more button pressing or if they should make a more relaxed combat system (like FF XIV has 2.5s global cooldown) which prevents the emergence of diseases to the player but can be less engaging if not balanced correctly.
I liked the relaxed combat of FF XIV, but the graphics were a deal breaker. I know it looks good with mods and in certain scenarios but while leveling and in general no.
Odd that you had so many issues in the early levels with your DH. I rolled a new one in the pre-patch and ran through the TBC expansion. I only died twice on the way to lvl 50 - once against the Corehound elite in Shadowmoon Valley and then to a pack of 5 mounted knights. So I didn’t find it tough at all after the nerfs.
Go Demonic Blades/Felblades build it’s way easier on the fingers.
Since dumping mine, I have seen a few other people playing DH and somehow managing to kill rares etc, makes me wonder if I was doing something terribly wrong, but I am damned if I know what it was.
I have another DH that is around lvl 40 ish, from way back when Legion was launched, so I really am quite confused as to why my new one was so poor.
The one I still have is Horde, the one I dumped was Alliance, if that makes a difference I dunno, but it’s probably me…
So after making the above post I tried my other DH and started the falling star quest, got to fight the giant murkbreath or whatever his name is and died the first time, I only died once before on this guy with any of my other characters and that was the very first time I fought him, probably done it 7 or 8 times since without issue.
I rezzed then went back and threw everything at him just barely managed to complete the fight but I think I realise that this class is not for me, way too stressful.
I think in the normal fights with ordinary mobs they die and I can collect the self heals, but with tougher mobs the self seal just doesn’t happen so as the class seems VERY fragile, I get wasted, AND frustrated/annoyed.
Shame really as I quite like the class until I try to do something…
