HC+ Makes wotlk not new player friendly

Hey, as you might have read from the title. HC+ makes the game really unfriendly to newer players.

Recently i managed to get a friend of mine to start playing wow wotlk classic with me.
We leveled our character up to 80 and wanted to start doing heroics. Now the problem we ran into is, there is literally no one that’s doing normal heroic anymore. It’s all Heroic +, GS ‘####’ required. It’s even hard to find people for a daily heroic.

All in all we were like okay if we can’t do heroics let’s just focus on leveling other characters. But it just takes ages without a JJ event or without heirlooms.
The next problem follows, if you want heirlooms you gotta do heroics for badges.
Impossible really.

My friend ended up quitting because of this and I just hope we get a fix to all of this. It’s really not fun to just not be able to play the game unless you got gold for gdkp’s etc.

At the very least make it so you can buy heirlooms with gold that you get from leveling up one character… make it like 500-1000 each idc.

RDF would completely fix your problem. but the playerbase is not ready for that discussion yet

Since they introduced hc+ (and soon hc++) they should just introduce RDF, and keep RDF for normals/heroics. Let the lfg be for hc+(+)

hc+ is just gatekeeping people and occupying the LFG atm.

I agree it’s not new player friendly, the whole system has a knock on effect to diminish normal HC’s. They should add RDF at this point, maybe they should have by Ulduar already, to counter the issue that adding HC+ created.

What a new and interesting topic, finally someone mentions it.

HC+ doesnt matter, you can just skip it completely and go straight into raids with some ah gear.

Gona be great when we have HC+++ for new players. The problem is only going to get bigger

Who would invite someone who did that? I wouldn’t. Unless you’re a guild heavily invested in a specific player, you’re not going to carry people through raids to gear them up. So what are you suggesting players buy gold and get boosted in a GDKP?

With how HC++ is looking on the ptr right now, I wouldnt want to go in there with someone who is not decently decked out in ulduar HM gear, tbh.

Thats how most people starting chars now without guild backing do it. Either that or use gold from your main, or use gold you farmed otherwise. Bottom line is, gear is gold now. I’m sure you can also muddle through with Naxx SRs or making your own runs if you care enough.

This process would be a lot easier if a reliable and consistent way to climb the ladder of HC > HC+ > HC++ existed. There is a lot of friction between hitting lvl80 and being strong enough to reliably pug HC+ with current game design. That solution shouldn’t really have to be “throw masses of gold at it”.

The RDF would improve this problem, and you could still have HC+ exist outside of the tool.

And that’s a good solution right? Swiping card and throwing gold around solves all problems. No need for proper catch up mechanics, just throw gold at it.

Things look bleak you know? This here is my main, capable enough for HC+ but considered not enough for Ulduar Runs at the start of the Phase 2. Planned to try and get her off the ground but what are the options? NK doesn’t really do GDKP and even if they did this main is dirt poor with maybe 1k to her name at best. Gear is a mixture of All sort of Phase 1 raids with and tier pieces from Ulduar I could get via tokens with GS considered low enough that most runs of Ulduar rejected me. No serious guild would take me in mostly due to my work getting in a way of raiding weekly so there’s no point to invest in me.

Great experience really. And yet Blizzard plans to make it even worse with HC++ and ToC and ToGC sharing lockouts.

HC+/++/+++ is not the problem here. People are not doing regular HC because regular HC has no rewards for them, while HC+ has at least up-to-date emblems for daily. You would still not be able to find groups for regular HC if you can’t find them now.
Don’t even mention getting carried, 99,99% of strangers would not do that.

But all the fresh 80 alts want you to carry them through the hardest content, stop being toxic.
Yes, this post is not serious.

And yet the rewards from doing it are Ulduar10 gear and approximately 1/60th of Ulduar10 HM gear. See the issue? The rewards and difficulty don’t match.

Yeah they’ll even pay you for it. Oh wait no that’s GDKP and the only way fresh characters can gear right now unless they by some miracle join the guild that cares.

Guilds that care are the heart and soul of this game and the only reason it is still worth playing.

You are correct, the current situation is subpar.

I have a pretty strong feeling they won’t add RDF at all, not even in cata classic or when/if we get there MOP classic.

I will personally be running it with a guild group for at least a few world tours on a few characters to get hands on trinkets, rings and other miscellaneous 10 man Hardmode Items I was unable to get this phase, or in the case of balance druid, that are BiS even in Phase 3.

Having to rely on others boosting you, because the appropriate (originally intended) content to gear up is not actively played any longer due to custom changes, is definitely not an improvement in my book.

You mean non existent? Every guild I found recruiting on NK around Ulduar launch wanted already geared character, preferably Warlock that would devote itself to raiding. Hell before Uld I ended up getting cucked out of Naxx raids because our guild was too small and the other guild we joined with already had all the slots for Tanks and Healing Paladins covered.

This is true of regular HC as well, the only difference is that HC+ has a daily extra reward that pushes the emblem of conquest reward up to 5 instead of the 2 you’d earn from just doing the daily. And ofc, people will naturally gravitate towards the most profitable option available. Had HC+ never been allowed into the game, most people would have still done the regular hc for the two emblems, and in this way offered a much better chance for new players to catch up. Even on pservers, nobody ever really asked for GS in hcs other than for FoS/PoS/HoR, given how faceroll regular hcs are.

Introducing hc+ the way it was only introduced an unneccessary barrier to entry, solely for the sake of “keeping dungeons relevant”, which they largely failed to because of how overtuned these dungeons are relative to the gear they drop - most ppl doing these mostly do so for the emblems and gold as they have no use for the gear that drops there. If they did, getting invited to a group, especially as a DPS, would be incredibly hard.

As usual, Blizzard fixed what was never broken and, in the process, made things that much worse.

So, with the 200 ilvl dropping in H+ what should be the minimal GS to enter RDF? Hour long runs with many wipes are guaranteed if 2/3 dps and a tank would be at 3-3,5 GS, however healer’s queue would be only 2 minutes.

Problem lies in bad tuning for the reward given.
