Hello all
I’ve been playing priest HOLY for some time.
However, I may want to change the main soon.
I want it to be off spec ranged.
My choice fell on Shaman, Evoker and Druid.
I would love to hear your short opinions about each of these specs, their pros and cons, you can also compare them to the priest Holy.
I know there are a lot of rankings on YT but I would like to know what are your opinions on the forum.
I will add that as a healer I only like to play m+ so I am asking for advice on m+.
Those are 3 very different healers. It really all boils down to your personal preference. Looking at your current holy priest, in my oppinion resto shaman is the closest in comparison, since both basically react on in coming damage by pressing some direct healing buttons. At least druid has to prepare before damage comes with putting hots up.
Thx for details.
What about Evoker heal ?
I am not playing preservation (eventhough i had planned this before DF). But i think it is a bit harder to play. You first have a 25 yard range ‘problem’, and you need to keep combining spells. I think it is a harder to play spec. But someone else who does play the spec can probably give a better response.
^This.
I’ve always been a Shaman healer. I gave Resto Druid a try but the healing style is so different that my old brain found it difficult to adapt. Shaman is likely the closest to Holy Priest out of the three so I suspect you would find that easiest to adapt to. Just my personal opinion (biased though it may be).
If you want to die in long fights because you only have 1 defensive every 1.5 minutes but you like to have a lot of HPS go Resto Shaman.
If you want combo’ing abilities and get tilted because everyone is spread or too far and you can’t heal them, go Prevoker.
If you want your teammates to panic defensives because they drop low on HP and your HoTs take time to bring them back up, play Resto Druid.
So I healed on a prevoker and it was very very fun. The class is designed extremely well, intuitive and you have tons of strong tools and you can also even double your heals with echo, which is fun. Doing damage as prevoker is also very easy. Would recommend for sure. I don’t play it anymore, because of aesthetical reasons. It’s just not my type of vibe, but the gameplay is really good
A convoluted, fascinating and satisfying tangle of combo interactions.
To play it at it’s best, you need to know damage patterns and have a deep understanding of the things you can combo. Typical combo prep is only 3 buttons however, so not necessarily as long as rdruid needs to ramp.
Although you can get away with a simpler healing pattern for everything up to about M+16s. If you have ambitions above that, be prepared to deep dive.
It’s a fun spec, mobile and adaptable, but if I have a criticism it’s that there are a lot of moving parts and it’s hard to remember all of them in any particular session. I usually get to the end of a key/raid and realise there is something I just plain forgot to press even though my UI is highlighting it.
If you wanted a simpler point-n-click healer, resto shaman is very good. Large toolkit available, but you can go a long way with just a few buttons. Ramp time is pretty minimal, but definitely helps if you learn when to put down cloudburst totem. Catching a free million healing during raid damage events is always fun to see
I think it’s designed very well for dungeons that tend to burst the group with damage every 15-20 seconds; which was season 1 in a nutshell.
Less optimised for season 2 where it’s rot damage and often likely that 1 player will get meganuked, but with the ability to remove bleeds and an external stagger, evoker does a pretty good job of handling these moments despite it’s lack of a big ST button.
I still find it a great spec to play with, the mobility and slide-along casting are quite addictive.
Actually though, I’ll revise my criticism above; the problem with preservation is that right now you shouldn’t play it. If you are an evoker, then the party is stronger with any healer plus you as augmentation, than it is with you as preservation and no augvoker. The only time to play preservation is when the augmentation slot is filled by someone else. Any other situation is kind of trolling your group right now.
That may change with time and nerfs, but right now, it’s really hard to tell any evoker it’s ok not to be augmentation. We’ve been pigeonholed hard by the current meta.
Yeah, but I’m talking from a pure gameplay perspective, but I agree with augmentation kind of
Resto Shaman is the most fun PvE healer.
Mistweaver is the most fun PvP healer.
Everything else is irrelevant.
rdruid is the most fun healer imo and very comfortable to play with good groups.
Why Mistweaver is fun in PVP ?
It has fun tools.
Ring of Peace to block escapes, to prevent people from crossing bridges, or to bump people off cliffs.
Transcendance behind walls, or upstairs, while carrying the flag in BGs.
You have fun PvP talents such as a ranged disarm effect, and “Mighty Ox Kick” which sends people flying - type the name of this spell on YouTube, it’s hilarious.
Besides, mobility in PvP is fun in general.
