I used to play only heals, so i dodn’t notice this.
However, i switched to mainly tanking and started noticing healears doing 0 dmg(and i don’t mean low dmg, literally 0 offensive spells used) during dungeon runs (both leveling and max-lvl). Happens everywhere, MoP classic & Retail.
Please help me udnerstand:
On one hand:
content is casual → who cares about dmg → heals can do whetever they want, if all the party members are alive
On the other hand:
content is casual → sometimes even requires 0 healing (pala tank can heal everyone) → heal is doing nothing = grief?
And i would guess even low lvl M+ keys can be considered casual nowadays, in overgerar, although i don’t do keys so idk.
PS:
Maybe the word ‘grief’ is not the one i should have used, sorry, me english bad.
What i mean is the following:
If a DPS intentionally(!) does any of the following:
does not kick
does not press offensive cds/does not use proper rotation
does not press def cds when they know big dmg is incoming
while in a casual content it most likely would not matter, it still might show that the player does not care & does not value others time?
I thought same may apply to healers, as i way too often see heals just standing there, no casts nothing in focus, nothing.
Lemme know if i am wrong
PPS:
This is not bait nor trolling. When i am playing a healer i always spend gcds either healing or dmging, i find it fun + healer’s dmg, while low, still helps to finish dungeon sooner.
Only and only if there is no agreement about it beforehand. In premade groups for example, the healer may not be dealing damage and the damage dealers may not be interrupting; as long as they have fun and they want to play with each other, there is no such thing as griefing taking place.
Yea, this is how its done these days. Make some insane assertion then follow up with “but I’m just asking a question” as if you’re the unreasonable one because you didn’t take their thing seriously.
You barely have to do any healing at all if everyone is doing their mechanics and avoiding damage, you can pretty much afk during some pulls, just drop an interupt and some crowd control at right time and everything will go smooth.
Your job as healer is to support as unfun this can sound this includes healing even avoidable damage or that tank that cannot keep him self alive with he’s self heals even tho he is a death knight for example, just ignore all negative feedback if you know you aren’t the problem, better to just ignore everyrthing going wrong by others if they start blaming you that just means they want to feel good about them self, while those that blame them self wanna just get better.
I just ignore feedback from players that barely have any self awareness, those tend to just blame some one else for their own mistakes, which is not my problem.
If I have to damage as well when I’m healing I wouldn’t be able to focus on telling bad jokes and terrible puns during combat.
Which we all of course know is the most important job of the healer.
Also why the healer is the most important role of the group.
You play tank. Take bigger pulls. You could, but you dont. You take the pulls you need to take because you feel like taking them.
A “popper” tank might argue that you are AFKing in the run. But that would be absurd right?
Same thing here.
And FYI: I always DD if I can. I usually do less DD than a “pro” would do. But more than 0, that’s for sure. I do it because otherwise I would be bored out of my mind.
