Heal doing 0 damage in casual content = Griefing?

I used to play only heals, so i dodn’t notice this.
However, i switched to mainly tanking and started noticing healears doing 0 dmg(and i don’t mean low dmg, literally 0 offensive spells used) during dungeon runs (both leveling and max-lvl). Happens everywhere, MoP classic & Retail.

Please help me udnerstand:

On one hand:
content is casual → who cares about dmg → heals can do whetever they want, if all the party members are alive

On the other hand:
content is casual → sometimes even requires 0 healing (pala tank can heal everyone) → heal is doing nothing = grief?

And i would guess even low lvl M+ keys can be considered casual nowadays, in overgerar, although i don’t do keys so idk.

PS:
Maybe the word ‘grief’ is not the one i should have used, sorry, me english bad.
What i mean is the following:
If a DPS intentionally(!) does any of the following:

  1. does not kick
  2. does not press offensive cds/does not use proper rotation
  3. does not press def cds when they know big dmg is incoming

while in a casual content it most likely would not matter, it still might show that the player does not care & does not value others time?
I thought same may apply to healers, as i way too often see heals just standing there, no casts nothing in focus, nothing.

Lemme know if i am wrong

PPS:
This is not bait nor trolling. When i am playing a healer i always spend gcds either healing or dmging, i find it fun + healer’s dmg, while low, still helps to finish dungeon sooner.

Blizzard defines griefing as deliberately disrupting other players’ enjoyment of a game by hindering their progress or sabotaging their efforts.

Claiming that a healer is griefing in “casual” content by doing zero damage is something no reasonable person could do.

Some people just want to heal and not do damage. If it’s not causing wipes or massively hindering, leave them be tbh.

It’s very simple:

  • If the content is timed (m+) or very challenging (hc/mythic raids, pvp) then not pressing buttons is griefing.
  • If the content is whatever (leveling dungeons, delves, world quests, etc) then it’s not griefing.

I believe that is what the bait were built upon :dracthyr_hehe:

It’s an massive bait and release anyways, definitely gone fishing how the topic is phrased

Only and only if there is no agreement about it beforehand. In premade groups for example, the healer may not be dealing damage and the damage dealers may not be interrupting; as long as they have fun and they want to play with each other, there is no such thing as griefing taking place.

Yea, this is how its done these days. Make some insane assertion then follow up with “but I’m just asking a question” as if you’re the unreasonable one because you didn’t take their :bat: :poop:  thing seriously.

I mean, if they’re straight up just AFKing when nothing needs to be healed I would have kicked them.

Ahh, heres the first “cazual content is serioz bizniz” person.

Can’t have someone taking their foot off the accelerator in casual content. Kick them!

Didn’t you know?
All content is serious-bizniz these days.
No casual scrubs allowed

I’m pretty casual and I do whatever I want, lazy aswell :dracthyr_hehe:

No, it ain’t griefing… being a healer you’re expected to heal. It’s not a requirement to dps.

You saying otherwise and pestering them about it would be harassment though.

It’s no different to me saying why aren’t classes that can off heal [Ret Pala, Shaman, SP, etc] not helping the healer if he’s struggling?

Oh , they’re there to dps and not heal? Pft!

Different story in M+ where timing it matters, every damage counts, but casual content??

Healer should Focus on keeping the group alive.
healer dps does not really matter in 99,9% of all cases.

You barely have to do any healing at all if everyone is doing their mechanics and avoiding damage, you can pretty much afk during some pulls, just drop an interupt and some crowd control at right time and everything will go smooth.

Your job as healer is to support as unfun this can sound this includes healing even avoidable damage or that tank that cannot keep him self alive with he’s self heals even tho he is a death knight for example, just ignore all negative feedback if you know you aren’t the problem, better to just ignore everyrthing going wrong by others if they start blaming you that just means they want to feel good about them self, while those that blame them self wanna just get better.

I just ignore feedback from players that barely have any self awareness, those tend to just blame some one else for their own mistakes, which is not my problem.

You can’t heal “stupid”, sadly.

If I have to damage as well when I’m healing I wouldn’t be able to focus on telling bad jokes and terrible puns during combat.
Which we all of course know is the most important job of the healer.
Also why the healer is the most important role of the group.

You finished the dungeon .you got gold and loot .what more do you want from a casual content and more specifically a healer ?

If they are keeping you alive .they are doing their job in casual setting

If you give them a cookie they will gladly get healed .just like a cat when offered one

I ain’t healing someone that can’t be bothered to run out of swirlies cause they need that 5 extra dps on their meter.

Correct. And it’s the only PoV possible.

You play tank. Take bigger pulls. You could, but you dont. You take the pulls you need to take because you feel like taking them.

A “popper” tank might argue that you are AFKing in the run. But that would be absurd right?

Same thing here.

And FYI: I always DD if I can. I usually do less DD than a “pro” would do. But more than 0, that’s for sure. I do it because otherwise I would be bored out of my mind.
