Yeah it definitely will . And it makes perfect sense to be considerate with each other, it’s good that you discussed it.
Let him complain, and lifetap at your own risk!
As a healer myself, when i see a warlock lifetapping im casting a heal on him now and again, but if i cant due to hard pull or oom, im just letting him die! No worries, you can always ressurect the warlock after the fight
I don’t bother healing them unless:
I have so much mana due to my fast mana regeneration and downranking spells that I might as well heal them so they can burst down enemies faster (90% of the time i do this with Divine Favor anyway so i’m not losing any mana on them).
They are being attacked.
Haha, its all good ^^ Healers don’t heal you, you just bandage and need on the healing gear, since you are already healing yourself xD
On a more srs note, some people need to relax and actually do their job, or don’t cause drama and make sure everyone gets bummed out, would not be the first time.
It’s simple:
Use Lifetap (in moderation) during a fight, but outside of it you should sit down and drink like the rest because I sure as hell will not heal you while everyone else drinks/eats.
“But you are here to heal!” Yeah, but if everyone sits down to eat/drink then so can you.
Both the healer and warlock need to just use their brains to work effectively together. If a healer has spare mana and the group is going fast so there is little drinking, they shouldn’t feel bitter about topping up the warlock. All it does is speed things up overall. If a healer has no mana, the warlock should not expect to be healed. TBH, the warlock should not expect to be healed anyway, just see it as a bonus. When necessary warlock should use bandaging and other self-healing tools to bump himself up. No need for either a warlock or priest to get bitter about what the other one is doing. Unless it is wiping the group or either person is expecting a certain thing, shouldn’t really expect anything. Groups that I’ve been in where a warlock (me or otherwise) and a priest has been able to work together supporting each other are always better groups. Just need some common sense and some teamwork. These angry healers complaining about bad behaviour, well it’s also bad behaviour to just leave a player real low health when you are full mana and it will only use probably about 5-10% your mana to heal them back up to full or close-to full. Warlocks shouldn’t EXPECT to be healed, but healers need to understand that it really does help a warlock out a lot to top them up. Warlocks also need to check the healer’s mana bar. If everyone is drinking/eating, then a warlock should too.
In short, it works both ways that’s what I’m trying to say.
Yep, that pretty much sums things up rather nicely.
Just don’t be that lock that shows up with no food and no drinks and expects to steal all your mana from your healer.
Life tap is a core mechanic for us Warlocks.
I always tell healers to not waste mana on me. I can life drain/siphon life to regen hp. Also demon armor.
If I get a renew or some other hot now and then, great. If not, also fine.
A lock abusing life tap, will stop doing that if you let the bugger die a couple of times.
Just want to say a big thanks to all the healers out there. You are doing a great job!
Does stuff like this really need a forum thread? Use some common sense
Exactly, you’re expecting the healer to subsidise your mana pool. It’s incredibly selfish to expect the healer to manage your mana issues - no other class has that expectation.
I’ve had one warlock already through a wobbly at me for not constantly keeping them topped off - even though they had plenty of chances to eat/drink with the rest of the group. Hilariously, I mained a warlock in vanilla and I’ve refused to play the class since as I personally hated it. But I guess that’s besides the point…
Point is, if you life tap in a fight where the healer cant leave you low, you are not actually generating extra mana, you basically steal mana from the healer.
There are some fights where you can ignore the Warlock that just dropped to 10% for mana, but judging by the high threat Warlocks generate, a low HP warlock is a death waiting to happen.
I had Warlocks who did this at the boss fight, got killed by an AoE and gave me the “HEAL???”
Heeey Peppe!
I think it is entirely dependent on how the dungeon run is proceeding and how reasonable people are. I play a healer and after first two or three packs I see how the group is doing and whether or not will I have excess mana. If I do have extra mana I actively tell the warlock in group to feel free to life-tap unless there is a heavy fight and I keep renew on him. What both need to bear in mind is that life-tap in essence is nothing else than the mana of the healer being transfered to mana of a dps. So in the end it could affect everyone in the party if handled badly. The important thing is that warlocks should not take it for granted. If you are not healed immediately after life-tap or after every life-tap it could mean that the healer is playing it safe and prefers to be careful for one reason or another.
So life-tapping often is not a bad etiquette. Life-tapping excessively, dying as a result and blaming the healer is.
I will always try and keep the lock topped up when conditions permit, the more hp I give him/her the more dps they do and the better for all. The problem can be in many groups we have a fury-war tank with no shield and another fury war dps taking agro and making no effort to drop back and bandage themselves, these take all the mana to keep up, so the poor lock ends up wanding. In a group a prot-tank, keeping the lock chugging is no problem and there is also less drinking and faster runs. Your prot war rule!
There is more drinking, if the locks are using life tap OUTSIDE of combat.
You have to drink > then heal lock > drink again as the lock is too lazy to bring food/water.
