I’m a healer.
I needed on cloth, leather, mail and plate if it had int on it while I was lvling.
It’s another thing once you’re 60 and items drop with ‘healing’ only on it.
You are in the right for this, as it is your primary stat for healing.

yeah i mean, communication is key after all.
There is almost no healer leather in classic. Healer gear is healer gear, no matter the armor type. If clothies get their panties on a twist because you need on upgrades, that’s on them. It’s not like they keep their grubby hands away from spirit cloth items lol.
Unless youre in a guild that has pre discussed this stuff and youre all in agreement.
Need what you need and greed what you dont.
Lmao it has not only spirit but also damage+ healing done effect bonus on it. It’s for both casters and healers.
Mage was salty you snagged the loot he was after. Too bad for him, he’s not entitled to loot that drops in a pug.
If it’s an upgrade for your mainspec you need it, regardless of the armour prof.
The preraid bis chest for most healers is cloth. Ofcourse a paladin will want it instead of an inferior plate chest.
It’s like saying I can’t need on leather armour as 90% of my preraid bis is leather.
Suck it up rogues that gear is mine.
Itemusation sucks hard in classic, you better get over that now or you’ll get angry alot for no reason at all.
That makes no sense based on the fact that leather caster gear is extremely rare and only offer armor that is useless for a caster outside pvp.
healing gear for leather/mail/plate barely exist especially before endgame.
tell him he can find a priest to heal instead if he doesn’t want druids taking his clo- oh…
2 Mages seems to like your post.
Yesterday we did a run to Maraudon. A very long run that is. We had a 50 Mage, me a 47 Lock, 46 Hunter, Healer/Tank . The run was smooth and nice and mostly … helpful, I reckon that , but …
…almost at the end of the run, Healer Ninajed Need on that Mace which gives a chance to get mana per attack ( or was it spell? ). I mean, the guy had a 2h staff with 10int/10spirit + increase healings by 21 or 24. His answer was “…why not?”.
Good, we continued to the Princess. I got that lovely Neck. All good.
Now, we head to kill Rotgrip and it drops the Shoulders. 17 int / 11 Spirit. My Shoulders had 8 Int 8 Stamina and, of course I rolled and won it. Next thing I know, the Mage, which also rolled Need along with the Healer says “…that is not really a Lock item.” ! Oh the irony “Why not?” I replied back. "17 Int and 11 Spirit is a very good upgrade for me. " . He keeps it with “…but Spirit” stat. Yes, I also need health/mana reg as Lock, so what’s wrong with that?!
Point is, Mages should really stop saying to people what they need to roll on and not. There is no such thing as “…has priority”. If is an upgrade you roll on it. You want …loot priority ? Play with friends, guild members and they maybe understand this … “request”.
I’m not. So even if my main stats are Int/Stamina, I will roll for that juicy Intellect/Spirit cloth item, even if that means i will lose some health from my previous item which has Stamina
and bonus healing/+healing. even though a lot of the gear will be “bonus damage AND healing”, anything with bonus healing you are well in your right to roll for if its an upgrade.
If people want loot prio they should state it at the start of the run.
If something drops with the right stats and it’s an upgrade? Roll for it.
I was healing SFK and BFD on my Shammy, and I asked if I could roll on the cloth whenever an uograde dropped. At a certain point the Mage said “Dude just roll”
It’s not your fault that itemization is the way it is in Classic.
Paladins run around in a mix of cloth/leather mostly as their pre-raid BiS. It’s just how it is.
Funny that mage who needs on int/spirit item would say it’s not a lock item, because as mage he wants the same stats as lock, int/stamina and only later will there be hit, crit and spell damage bonus items available. Spirit is a bonus but mages will want stamina if they wanna aoe grind since it gives you a bigger health pool.
What a big hypocrite.
Itemization in Classic WoW does not allow Shamans/Paladins/Druids to be picky when it comes to gear.
If it is a upgrade then you roll on it regardless of the Armor type.
If Cloth-Classes are still whining about it then remind them that Blizzard is the one that made the items (or rather lack of items for specific speccs) and that you have the same right to roll on an item that they have if it is an upgrade.
“But you can wear more than just cloth, It is not fair to us” - Well tough s*it, the other leather/chain/plate gear pieces are garbage for this specific specc.
If they don’t like it then they can head back to Retail where everyone only gets their own armor type.
That aside: As a Tank/Healer duo you can just kick people with that kind of attitude before the run starts.
Thus far priests have been the most greedy, literally needing on every cloth piece no matter the stats. Had a priest need on a blue cape that gave worse stats than his but had a big bonus to FIRE spells. If you need on BOP gear and I don’t see you immediately equip it then you’re going on ten peoples ignore list.
Druid, shaman and paladin healers roll for cloth if it’s an upgrade. Hunters, shamans and warriors roll for leather. This isn’t retail, and players who don’t like this will have to adapt or play among themselves.
everyone has a use for spirit in classic and every mana class would not mind some mp5
Had a bad experience last night in SM where a rogue was rolling on all mail pieces and STR/stam rings because they ‘have an alt’. What is this bs…
As a resto Sham. There is no mail +int gear. It’s almost entirely cloth and a tiny bit of leather. I am rolling on cloth gear or I would be wearing all enhance. You really want a healer with no mana?
Frankly being a healer is obnoxious enough without dps whinging we took your loot. In raids fair enough there is gear to go around. In levelling dungeons, sorry but sod off.
I replaced my Robes of Arugal yesterday (level 48), and it was only a tiny upgrade.
As a resto/balance druid in classic, you need on cloth.
Same goes for resto/elemental shamans, and holy paladins!
Aylish, holy priest in classic, who gladly share my cloth!
It really depends on class.
Int is better for shamans then for priest for example.
A blue post from 2005:
Obviously, for melee the numbers are somewhat irrelevant. Sorry that I don’t have the exact numbers for Paladins, but the trend is illustrated. Here are some other numbers to that end:
At level 60, these are expected numbers of INT and points per Crit%
Warlock 200 - 60.6
Druid 192 - 60
Priest 250 - 59.5
Shaman 160 - 59.2
Mage 286 - 59.5

Thought I’d use the shaman healing page. Might have some tips for you
It’s one of the reasons I prefer to start my own group and only ask for non-plate classes to join the group. Don’t want a dps warrior to need on a chest piece I need.
