Healers in WPvP deserve a nerf

Let me start this post with an anecdote from a couple days ago.

Some random Alliance PreVoker came to Orgrimmar with a Monk friend and started killing all the NPCs in our city, at some point during those fights we were 3 people trying to kill the Evoker, it was impossible.

Today I ran into a PreVoker somewhere in Isle of Dorn, he didn’t have any PvP gear and he was around ilvl 590 with 4.5m base health.

I’m a SP in full PvP gear ilvl 628 and I couldn’t take him down, I did a total of 100 million damage to him and he just outhealed me to death.

I think I did all I could, used Psyfiend during burst windows, silenced him whenever I could, feared, stunned, and dispelled most of his HoTs and defensives.

So is this how WPvP is supposed to be? You see a healer and you’re forced to run away because he is literally unkillable? And btw this is not PreVoker issue only, I’ve seen Disc do the exact same in Arena, 4 million spammable shields with a built in damage reduction…

I think healers should be killable in 1 v 1 by a DPS, otherwise this game mode doesn’t make any sense. DPS should be able to kill healers, healers should be able to kill tanks, and tanks should be able to kill DPS. That’s a healthy rock-paper-scissors scheme.

You thinking that a healer should die to you in a 1v1 is an absolutely absurd statement.
You believe this because you couldn’t down a healer AND a spec with off heals/bubble smoked you?!?

How many healers does it take to keep an entire raid up?
How many does it take to heal a BG?
You should be able to 1v1 that?!?

Seems like you are just tilted because you lost a 1v2.

You are not a good reader I see, I never was in a 2 v 1 situation, it was 3 of us vs 1 PreVoker and then a couple days after it was me 1 v 1 against another cancerous PreVoker who didn’t even have PvP set.

I understand how you feel but imagine how much harder would it be to heal if 2 people focused and killed you within a stun as a healer. You’d hate them for throwing the game or something, right? Well, essentially what you’re asking for is for them to be unable to recover from this. If they can’t recover, being a healer in pvp would be a miserable experience and you’d hate them too as they can’t keep you alive. Unfortunately the game is not balanced around world pvp and I understand it feels bad. Still, with the increase in player healthpools I do believe healers are weaker than last expansion so imagine what it would be like to take down a healer then.
(Spoiler: I once took 3 people down, though it took stunning them in open world enemy mechanics, not only could I survive but I also could do damage to take them one by one as a priest.)
But please understand that while they feel like gods in a 1v1 situation the actual content healers as they are were designed for are struggling even.

If 2 DPS focus on you they should absolutely be able to kill you, it makes no sense that they can’t.

I suppose you are thinking about this from an Arena or BG perspective, so in your mind you see it as “oh they swap on me and they kill me in a stun, that’s unfair!” but the thing is that you’re not in 2 v 1 or 3 v 1, you have teammates, and it’s those teammates job to peel for you if you’re getting trained, they have CC too.

I agree with WPvP not being the main focus of balance team, but I still think something has to be done, it’s unplayable.

It could definitely be done better than this. And I do think it’s more balanced now with the bigger healthpools than before.

I don’t think that helps at all in PvP, just take the example from the first post.

I dealt 100million damage to a 6million HP character… I numerically “killed” him 17 times and he still won, how is that fair?

In 1v1? Yes, it sucks to dps against that. I just tried to give you a possible explanation why.

Me and a friend, both bis pvp gear lost against a disc priest… it’s actually insane that people are still subbing to this sh’t show…

I’m fine with healers not dying to a single dps.
Not much point bringing one to 3v3/bg if all it takes is 1 dps to take them out.

The main issue is that it sometimes takes 3 dps an overly long time to kill just one healer, isolated and alone.
Another issue, and I guess bigger issue in wpvp is that for some reason some of the healers do comparable damage to some of the worse dps specs.
Which is obviously dumb when they can already survive so well.

My fix would be to just heavily reduce healer dps.
Have them be a healer and support with tools such as cc, healing and buffs rather than doing so much dps on their own.

I think that 1v1 a dps against a healer, it should not be possible for the dps to take down the healer. But it also should not be possible for the healer to take down the dps.

Give them a debuff that reduces healing done when they start doing dmg. Or when they do above a certain amount of dmg in a given time window. There should be a tradeoff.

That would be a good solution, make dampening increase as long as you’re in combat in open world and then slowly remove it if you leave combat.

Or give them some kind of debuff that reduces healing done to self when also doing damage in open world.
Something like “damage increased by 20% and healing to self reduced by 50% while not in a group with other players within x yards in the open world.” Or other numbers. Just so healers wont be able to wear down dps classes while being unkillable themselves.

Why would you need two 40-player raids, unless as others have in 2016, raided Orgrimmar and StormWind at the same time led by the same 5xplayer team?
