I’ve just noticed that while the essences of the Heart of Azeroth used to work in any zone (at least in Chromie Time), now they only work in BFA zones. (Showing a “You’re in the wrong zone.” message)
It seems like such a weird thing to restrict, so many years after. It literally just kills a part of the fun for some of us, that have alts locked in Chromie Time.
Blizzard does not like fun, they tend to nerf everything not related to current expansion, this change is most likely done on purpose. Im still mad at them for disabling legion legendaries and nerfing bear tartare. I had so much fun running old instances with my speed twink, at 280% movement speed, but they totally killed that. Its not like i could abuse current content with it anyway as it was locked at level 45, but alas, fun was detected and nerfed.
I stil have both the necklace and the cape to work on so i know that the thing does not work outside of BFA. It started saying that on the item as soon as SL dropped. Something about a legacy item and being disabled.
You can get it to work as long as you stay in BfA zones. I still am adding essences to the necklace that are missing and i still want to get a rank 15 cloak one day.
The mechangon trinket is also needed for a few things if you are working on some of the junkyard achieves. If you accidentally deleted this then you can just make another one.
Might be related to the upcoming FUN DETECTED nerf, or could be it was never supposed to work in timewalking at all. Hard to say when there’s zero communication. It blows, that is for sure. Scaling is really weird as well, I’ve been close to death on multiple modest pulls (6-8 mobs) in the Botanica yet the mobs die pretty fast.
The nerf which is on the 20th anniversary PTR is:
“Timewalking dungeons will now scale enemies to your current level as opposed to scaling you to the level of the dungeon.”
It was fun while it lasted but everyone understands that scaling in legacy timewalking content was a complete mess, sometimes up to a point that it would completely invalidate the challenge in question.
You may have noticed how broken the TBC gems are this week. Most often the drop are +2+2 in stats and occasionally you’ll see one with +12+12 as a boss drop. This value is almost triple of what basic stats you receive from an appropriate TBC era piece of gear.
I won’t name a current stats exploit for the mage tower scenario but I have had a full legit armor with 20+ gems for some time now which would trade off a minor amount of secondaries for almost 60% boost in main stats, effectively increasing your damage output BY A LOT.
There’s many other problems with scenario scaling itself but with the upcoming change all of that could become evergreen content with less frequent need for fine tuning.
Why do you waste time on nerfing something like time walking? Items that took a long time to get such as Shadowmourne and the legendary MoP cloak could be dusted off for a short time for FUN but ofc Blizzard has to nerf fun. Reverse this change please.
