Max Heart rewards

I have a question. I have recently maxed out my Heart of Azeroth and as such artifact power rewards from world quests and missions give me gold. Tell me. Does the weekly island expedition reward give gold now or is it still ap which would remove the need for it for me. I mouse over it and I see a circle icon with overlapped writing inside it?

Some rewards seem to remain wasted but others do turn to gold.
