Heirlooms are even more terrible now

I enjoy levelling alts and casual content. With the recent patch everything is scaled up. Boss and mob health, quest rewards, dungeon drops etc. Not the heirloom items.

After investing so much time and gold in these things to get them, I feel like their only purpose is now to remind me that I am an idiot. Especially since levelling time is shortened as well. There might be a lot of things to fix with the patch and expansion, so this is not a high priority thing but, it would be nice to see these items beefed up a little. Thank you.

Like you said with the exp was halved .
The point was that Heirlooms was added in Wotlk 1st time because the Grind for experience was to high.

Leveling an alt in Wotlk required quite a lot of effort spending more than a week to lvl since ( at 36 lvl in Wotlk you need it close to 20 quest 144k exp and 5.6k exp per quest while now you need like 5 quest of just a dungeon ) I remember i spend 4/5 days =20-25 hours to grind for 70 to 80 .

In Dragonflight you need like 4-5 hours

Another thing that Heirlooms removed is the gear grind in dungeons .
Was 2 overpowered at the point that people never bother with loot . (The same reason you started this topic)

Does the Heirlooms are still viable ?? Yes .

You have the choice of a set with heirlooms that are still viable(and you don’t need to change ) or dungeons item that have less effect after 5 lvl from the heirlooms .

You still are overpowered since you no longer need to pick up gear and never bother until max lvl with the gear …

At 25 lvl the difference in gear is 102 ilvl heirlooms vs 110 ilvl dungeons .
The difference with green items is the same .

So a minimal difference that make the actual content worth doing it .

I think all those things you said are correct, but less so with the recent patch. The heirloom items are trailing behind quest rewards, and I am talking about 40-50 (sorry, I just checked, and it turns out more like 30*) ilevels. So, yes, they are barely viable, but I don’t think this is an intended design. Like, why wouldn’t they be scaled up like the rest of the items and mobs and stuff?

Heirlooms are only a gold-sink for completionists. That’s their entire purpose of existing at the moment.

Now if they changed their purpose and made it something like, for example, 5% gold increase from all sources per piece equipped, then they’d become something worth having.

It is correct that the heirlooms are ‘worse’ than the quest rewards.
However they are good enough to overpower even the regular elites.
At present I am leveling a lock and pala with mostly 3/6 upgraded heirlooms (only the weapons are 5/6) and I use most of them up to lvl60 without major problems doing 5 levels or more per hour.

Sounds great! But why should they be that way? I am not saying game is hard, or levelling is hard. Like, am I not paying hundreds of thousands of gold to get them and rank them up? Am I not doing silly serverwide competitions or laborous old content to acquire them? Why should they be sub-par? I could have a very easy time levelling without them, but that is not the point.

I dont know why they changed it. They used to have ‘blue’ ilvl. Perhaps pvp/battleground players complained?

I love(d) heirlooms… because when it was good I could just go ahead and do what i wanted without having to change my gear.
I used an obseenly amount of gold to upgrade it … and now it is useless…
I am not a rich person… in RL or WOW and it actually took alot of time and effort to upgrade them
all which is now wasted…

ugh… wish there were a money back thingie…

Exactly! I feel dumb for investing so much on these things. That is the point actually: I am not complaining that levelling is troublesome or something. I consider time and gold invested, and I cringe so hard at myself.

Weaker than they have ever been tbh, probably need a buff.

iirc weren’t ilvl of items in old content bumped up, like MC gear by like an additional 100?

Maybe they forgot to bump up heirlooms to reflect that? Not used heirlooms or levelled an alt with them in eons.

It definitely seems like they need a tweak. Hopefully something they can look at when they have cleared all the critical issues.

Still good starting gear for a new character, but that’s about it.
