These days, while playing in Hellfire Peninsula, I wonder… did the original Warcraft devs really think that Hellfire was supposed to be a jungle?
Or this was a later idea?
What about Zangarmarsh and Zangar Sea?
If Hellfire was really a jungle, I’d expect to see tree trunks. And I remember that there were giant mushrooms in Warcraft III?

Originally, in Warcraft 2, draenor as a whole was portrayed as nothing more than muddy badlands and mushroom forests. The Red World had no jungles to speak of and roughly tracks with the conditions of hellfire peninsula and zangarmarsh even before the world was shattered.
