Helmix is a cursed beast

Background info:
Helmix is a ZM rare that spawns as a triplet only if a certain number of nearby worms have died in the vicinity (a rather big number). One of the 3 individuals is tamable.

Usually you have to beg people to come for a rare. But each time that I kill maaaaany worms to get Helmix to spawn, it seems that players appear out of nowhere within a few seconds of the announcement of the spawning of the rare and start AoEing the place making getting the taming of the worm impossible…

It is not like if they cannot just fight the other 2 worms and still get the credit and loot.

This is so frustrating…

Was it you complaining on general chat? I’m the one who suggested to do it early in the morning :stuck_out_tongue: which tbh is not a bad idea. Before I go to work there are at least 10 rares up on Nordrassil realm  try that and let me know.

People who don’t play hunters have literally no knowledge of this though. They don’t know that you spawned it. From their perspective, you’re trying to steal the rare they want to kill.

Blame the game, not the players. If it’s going to have a summon and tame mechanic, there should be some way of having 30 seconds where other players can’t affect it.

I honestly didn’t even know hunters could tame it. I guess I’m not the only one. The game doesn’t exactly make it obvious that’s what hunters would want when you’re playing other classes.

I appreciate the frustration. But maybe don’t try and tame a mob which is currently in demand. ZM is fresh and new, and players are trying to get their achievements and currencies etc. and they see a rare and want to kill it.

Maybe try doing it later at night when the zone is quieter (usually after mid night GMT).

its a oondasta style grief-a-thlon again

I think it’s going to be a pet that will be easier to get when it’s quiet or after everyone is done with their currency/rep farms.

You forgot consumption in Korthia? What do you expect by random people exactly?

There were 30+ people in front of Consumption and there still was the usual clowns going in despite an entire raid sitting in front of it waiting.

This.
I had no idea before reading this thread. Frankly if I see a Skull on the minimap I just run over and if there is a fight I jump in, I don’t even look at the name of the rare.
I was questing a few days ago and found a rare (Hiruken or something) near the waterfalls but no fight to jump into so I figured I start a group in LFG. I did so and when a few people joined some asked who had Lure. I had no idea what that is but I assume you need to find something to spawn this fight.

I don’t read guides on Rares. I just go around doing the quests and if there is a Skull try to kill it.
Not sure how the game could do a better job at imforming its players, maybe with quests or something. There should be something that teaches the players about the Rares in a zone.

Just go tame one of the non-rare mobs maybe? He doesn’t even have a unique model, at least according to petopia.

It’s not as if a tamed elite would deal more dmg than a non-elite.

When you are begging the DH aoeing them in white text and he does not even react almost as if you are not even there, it is more than not being a hunter though.

I mean he could had even said something after the kill about how he did not knew (or even to say that I should just do it at a less busy time) instead of … nothing.

It is just like how in the old PvP servers, I was less upset about being killed by the enemy faction than about the allied faction not aiding.
