I play on the Silvermoon Realm and I’m really decided to play with Demon Hunter, but I can’t accept the Night Elf model and lore, it’s not my taste.
However, I have always played with the Alliance (mostly with void elves) and all my characters are on this realm.
Although I did a lot of research I found no information regarding the Horde situation on Silvermoon and I had some questions about it:
So… first of all I would like to know if I will be penalized hard at the auction house for playing with Horde here.
Secondly, I know that LFG is cross-realm but what about custom groups? Are they also? I tried to make a blood elf DH and for curiosity I went to see the active groups and I didn’t saw any, so I logged into my main character in the alliance just to compare and there were about 20 just for dungeons…
Lastly, I will be playing in Warmode most of the time, I know that Warmode players are taken to different shards, can this solve my problem?
It’s hard to think of leveling a new character in a different realm just to play as DH. It is in this realm that I have my Characters, my Money and farm my Collections for Transmog.
Just a point: Mythic + and Guilds are not my focus.
As Lxser says, the AH is cross faction so no problems there. Custom groups are cross realm, so again, no problems. And warmode will put you on any old shard so you won’t be on an Alliance-heavy Silvermoon shard.
If you’re just wanting to play solo or pug, Silvermoon should be fine. However, if you end up really enjoying Demon Hunter and do want to join a guild eventually, you’ll be limited in your options on Silvermoon.
Your gold and items can’t be mailed cross-faction so that isn’t relevant no matter what realm you’re on. Your collections (mounts, tmogs etc) will be there on any realm. On way to get some gold together on a new realm or faction is to sell some pets, since they’re part of your collections so can be accessed on any faction, any realm. It helps to get some started gold on a new realm/faction. Good luck wherever you choose to go!
Lxser addressed it, Ceranity addressed it, and I want to hammer it in:
Your Blood Elf will be (almost) as isolated from your other characters as if he were on Draenor instead.
Any idea you had about being to co-operate in some way with your cross-faction alt on the same realm is wrong.
There is just one exception to that. You can transfer gold from your Alliance to your Horde character on the same realm, but only with the help of a friend, and only after losing the AH cut.
Your Hordie puts up some junk on the AH for, say, 100K.
Your friend on Alliance takes 100K from you, and buys the pieve of junk.
Your Hordie gets the gold, less the AH cut.
You can’t buy your auctions from your own account, so you can’t do it without the help of a friend.
That is the one and only way your Belf can indirectly interact with your Alliance characters on Silvermoon that he couldn’t from Draenor.
