Shows an arrow to your current target, with a distance indicator.
Basically just started trying to heal in bg’s and I find it so annoying when I’m trying to heal people that are just out of range and in the mayhem I can’t figure out which way to move to get in range!!!
If you have a person targeted, they will get a circle around their feet as a highlight… Other than that just check the enviroment around you and you see who you can run in range of(and raid frames should tell you who are in range, and who are not).
That should be all you need. If you can’t see that, I am not sure an addon will help you, 'cause the game basicly tell you where people are.
Healbot won’t do presicely what you ask for, but it can replace raidframes and then you can set it to have the frames show as transparent for players out of range.
I have been using “hover over” heal macros and raid style party displays which do go transparent when target is out of range. It’s just when there’s a big ol’ team fight going on and I see someone go transparent right as I’m about to cast on them, then look back at the screen and its just a big mess I sometimes don’t find them fast enough to keep them alive XD
I think you might be suffering from newbie tunneling. You’ll learn to read your screen eventully, if you don’t just give up straight away. Like I said, if you are insecure where your player is, target it, and you will see it highlighted by the default UI. Perhaps it could be even more obvious, but the highligt is there, and will help you to locate your player if it has ran away.
I use mouseover too, but will target a person if I lose track of them in the game world to get that help from the highlighting.
if it does not exist its a good idea for an addon though, i know tom tom has an arrow that points you in the direction of objectives, perhaps it’d be easy to reverse engineer that logic and apply it to players instead of objectives, especially since targeted players lights up on the mini map and could be used as an input
