Help me understand

Hi

I’m relatively new to WoW - played consistently for a couple of months, and inconsistently here and there for a couple of years. Wasn’t around for the first run of WoW which i understand was the real golden age

Anyway, please help me understand something

WoW is a vast game, with a lot of side media, and a pretty well established lore. There are multiple ‘ways’ to play between classic, hardcore, classic MoP and retail as well as, i believe, private servers (?) with various different rules and parameters and then within each game type, various ways to play - pvp, pve, collecting, exploring, guild stuff etc

So, with all this, why do people who seemingly hate the game, and blizzard, persist in engaging with the content?

The forum, and youtube, is FULL of people moaning about how awful the game is, how dead MoP is, how unimaginative new retail stuff is, how classic isn’t the exact version they wanted or, thta classic is just that and they wanted more. The game is dead, a few month later, the game is dead, a few month later still the game is dead.

If these people hate the game, and its creator, so much - why stay?

There are other MMOs
There are other game genres entirely
There are non gaming hobbies you can partake in
There are outside activities you can engage in
And, there are human people you can make friends with in the outside world

Why stay, pay the pleasure and then be billious about it? It makes a really unfriendly, and uninviting welcome to new people like myself - like, be free and frolic guys, you aren’t tied down here :man_shrugging:

Sorry to say but Guilds are dead. Its all about play correct class

a lot of them are retail only andies , on youtube and twitch they are seething runescape andies that were mad when their favourite new runescape content creator (from WoW) wanted to play some MoP
some people just like complaining, this is how the forums have been for a decade and still pretty negative two two decades, its usually negative not positive because positive stuff is just… enjoyed, no need to make a forum complaint for stuff you like

It’s not so much that people hate it for being back…

It’s more about people being upset with Blizzards current incompetance like… Culling of Straholme chest is bugged for loot so you cannot loot it when you cleared it… It’s been ongoing for 4 months to this day…

What kills alot of the joy out of the game for me is the fact they implemented Celestial gear… I’m an anti-LFR person but even i would prefer LFR over Celestial runs because it ruins profession markets aswell as raiding progression. Nothing feels special and they returned back to the exact reason that made me flee retail in the first place: Gear pursuit scaling with no meaningful means to get it. I’m also a recruitment officer for my guild and find it contradictory that people has last boss loot despite never setting a foot into the raid.

As i said… you/they don’t have to be here :man_shrugging:

Why pay for, and sink your time into, something you’re not happy with? There are other games to play

Why financially support a company that you believe to be incompetent?

This is the bit i don’t understand - this is entertainment, a choice, an extra… You can just leave anytime you want

Terrible Company, Terrible Community, Un-Fun mechanics but its all we have from our favourite game thats left to us.

Please stop calling LFR a raid. Any of the MS/OS normal raid tuesday PUGs are better organised, despite people they not knowing tactics either. LFR is more of Lookalike Fake Raid with mechanics cut in half, stats lowered and 30 people still no able to complete it due to pure chaos inside, so they need extra damage and HP stacks from buff they get on wipes to ignore the rest of the boss abilities.

Yes the darkmoon cards and all of 476 crafted gear got very cheap, since it is easier for fresh main/alt to get 476 one, than pay aseveral WoW Token prices for a few pieces. However crafting for progression now moved to 496 ilvl bracket and everything below normal raid ilvl is now a cheap catchup, as it was during release of ToES in original MoP.

Even in a post about people mindlessly moaning - commentators are still taking the opportunity to have a moan?

Bizarre

90% of whines fall into 1 of the 2 following categories:

  1. An invested customer who has been playing the game for 10+ years. He will cry about anything because WoW is basically a second life for him and every issue is very important
  2. The PvP andy. He will always complain about PvP (im)balance. He doesn’t understand that balancing PvP is very hard and isn’t the priority to begin with, because PvP is just a side show and most normies outside of forums do not even care about it.

The rest is usually legitimate feedback. Remember that the main purpose of these forums is for people to literally complain so that the devs get feedback and adjust the game accordingly
