Help with mount collecting

I love collecting mounts and I wanna get more mount collecting achievements but I am no longer sure which mounts count towards that achievement and which do no (I know that all of them count but they need to be on the same character…)

I know its best to collect mounts with a paladin because he has the most class mounts up to 9 class mounts, and I believe I have all of them except the Argent Tournament paladin mount.

But what about allied races mounts. When I unlock a new allied races I get a mout that only that allied race can use, but do they count for that achievement on all characters or just on that allied race one. and when about the other faction, if I unlock allied race from the other faction will that mount also count or no?

Do legion class mounts count on all characters or just on the class where I got it?

Dark iron dwarves have another special mount if you level one to lvl 50, (why is Dark Iron Dwarf the only allied race with a specil mount) does that mount also count on all characters?

Is there a website that shows if a mount count towards mount collecting achivement on all characters?

https://simplearmory.com/ is a good website to use for tracking collections, such as mounts.

The achievement says that you need to have X number of useable mounts on a given character. Allied mounts can be used by non-allied races, once collected, but they’re locked to a faction, not race.

Legion class mounts are locked to the class (so all Hunter alts can use the Hunter mount, but a Monk can’t use a Hunter mount).

There are quite a few Glory mounts for doing achievements in old dungeons and raids. These are mostly soloable (you might need some help from friends for a few). Can be fun figuring out how to do some of them.
I’d rather go for a Glory mount than pay 10,000g for one.

There are a bunch of mounts that drop in old dungeons and raid too, you might get some of these doing the above. But you can farm them. Easiest ones are from the single boss raids like Onyxia or Malygos. I tend to stick a alt (sometimes more than one) alt outside these raids and just run them all through it.

i do have the same question. do mounts i cannot ride (faction/race/etc) count towards the achievment? cause im confused otherwise.

if they do count, then it will be easier to get to 100 mounts as im doing this for the dragonhawk mount gift.

I took a quick look at your collection (jealous of quite a few things you’ve got in there!), and I noticed you don’t have any Zereth Mortis mounts yet, asides from Deathrunner. If you’re just trying to look for ways to inflate the counter for the achievement, grinding the materials to make those mounts can be boring, but the mounts are at least guaranteed at the end of it. Alternatively, farming the BfA-SL rares that drop mounts is also a good move.

To answer the question properly - your achievement counter should automatically update when you sign onto the character with the most usable mounts. For me it’s of course my pally. So, say if you drop a mount on your Warrior and hit 349 usable mounts, then swap to your pally, it should bump up to 350 and just flat out give you the achievement. I wasn’t even aware how close I was until I just hopped onto my pally one day after not touching him at all for a few weeks and then I got handed the Lord of the Reins title.

The achievements work on the basis of how many mounts that character can use. So you can have more mounts account wide than a character is eligible to ride.

Some characters have more mounts than others due to their class or professions etc. For me my Paladin has the most, she has all those extra horses (class mounts) and some carpets from Tailoring.

Thanks for your help guys. I know I am missing quite a lot of mounts from BfA and Shadowlands and I started working on BfA now and later Ill start working on Shadowlands soon, but I hate that because some mounts are only obtainable while being in certain covenants and its too much work atm.

I made a list for what I need to do from older expansions so its easy to keep track of everything.

And I know that basicly mounts only count if one character can use that, but I believe I read somewhere that Legion class mounts count on all characters even if you cant use tham on every class…

I am missing my vial of the sands (among other mounts) since i came back from 8.5 year break and the response from blizzard was, “Mounts don’t just go missing”, “You can farm one, since you have the recipe”. Ok i accept the fact i am crazy and you can do no wrong. All hail our mighty infallible overlords.
