Helya, Naga, N'zoth and Sylvanas

A Youtube-Video I watched mentioned some relationships I hadn’t really thought about. The theory in there seems quite convoluted, but I do think the situation itself is interesting enough to warrant discussion. I have no theories myself, but I would be interested to hear if others can make more of this puzzle.

Helya’s Kvaldir have directly opposed Azshara’s Naga for quite some time, as we learn first in Northrend, then in visions of the past in Vashj’ir.

Sylvanas struck some kind of deal with Helya that included her binding Odyn’s Valkyr. And it seems like Sylvanas knew about this before she came to the broken shore. Her first real act as Warchief is taking a Forsaken fleet to Stormheim, it really seems like she went there explicitly to make her deal. Now considering that some dark force kept the Loa from Vol’jin at the broken shore, and made Sylvanas Warchief… I guess Helya is a prime suspect.
Oh, we also know that she didn’t die a final death in Legion, from an island expedition quest.

Now in 8.2 we get Azshara and her Naga. But no hints of Kvaldir yet, as far as I know - except that they are gathering azerite like everyone. If Helya is meant to have a role in WoW’s future I would think is is a bit odd. The Naga seem to still follow N’zoth, with Azshara actively trying to free him.

And at the end of 8.1.5. the player character was compelled in the Crucible of Storms to bring Xal’atath’s empty dagger to Sylvanas, who gleefully took it up. It would be strange if the compulsion didn’t come from N’zoth, and if there was no void-ish planning going on.

All the while Sylvanas thinks that the faction war is “serving its purpose”, and has undisclosed goals that go beyond it.

That’s… a lot of moving parts. The video theorizes that Sylvanas is trying to doublecross Helya and catch her in the dagger, or something like that. I’m just not sure.

So… any ideas how this fits together in a way that is not too convoluted for WoW’s story? Does Helya have a role at all, or should we just ignore her? Does her beef with Azshara matter? What the heck is going on?

We also know that Azshara is seemingly being N’zoth’s jailer. Does that explain the enmity between Naga and Kvaldir? She did get betrayed quite hard by a Titanic Watcher.

I do remember Loken, when he we corrupted by Yogg-Saron, making a deal with Helya to imprison Odyn within the Halls of Valor. The servants of the Old Gods are hardly the most disciplined and unified lot. Though whether Helya is allied with the Old Gods is speculation, though.

TBF, we don’t really know what Helya’s goals are other than the fact that she hates Odyn and wants to make more of her own forces. There is a lack of hints to speculate what her exact deal with Helya is.

This does not seem to be the case. This plotpoint seems to have been fabricated by a wow media site. Dialogue from 8.2 all indicate she seeks to free N’zoth.

If that is so, I stand corrected, of course!

The moment of his ascension is near. Repent unbelievers for the Kingdom of the Deeps approaches and will drown all who oppose the Grand Master. Glory to N’zoth :octopus:

Shame, it’s a cooler spin than the generic “aughh come forth my master” thing

From the dialogue, continuing from her Warbringer, she seems to think of herself as N’zoth’s equal, rather than a servant and wishes to rule the world beside him. It makes more sense for her to want to free him.

Thats quite IC for Azshara, she did want to be the consort of Sargeras.

She will go for any guy as long as he can bury deep into a planet.
