Herald of the Titans - Algalon Achievement

I’d like to make a suggestion, incase relevant WoW Classic decision-making Blizzard staff frequent these forums, then here is my voice regarding the achievement Herald of the Titans.

Can you please remove this epic achievement when you nerf Ulduar and Algalon to the ground, by not making it possible to get this achievement on the nerfed versions of Algalon, or by making possible only with a toggle to the unnerfed version of Algalon?

The title is epic, and a lot of players put effort into killing Algalon with the required sub 252 gear criteria for this Achievement. If you allow players to get this achievement after Alagalon is nerfed, it’s not going to be special or feel the original sense of accomplishment. It will greatly lose it’s real value.

People who kill Algalon after the nerf, can still enjoy Starcaller title, but Herald of the Titans really stands out, and I wish Blizzard will either remove this achievement after nerf, or make it possible only by switching on the pre-nerf version of Algalon.

It is already nerfed, why nerf it more?

You misunderstood me, I’ve edited my post to make it more clear.

OP probably refers to the nerf rumors that have been going around a few weeks now. These nerfs would make the boss basically free.
significantly less dmg
significantly less HP

It would put him even lower than a classic MC boss.

As far as I am concerned, there should be no title whatsoever for killing it with aforementioned nerfes.

I don’t even play wrath anymore. But this is a good suggestion. Getting that achievement when / if Algalon becomes a sponge is negative indeed.

Exactly, although I wouldn’t go as far removing Starcaller as well, that’s a bit too harsh in my opinion. Herlad of the Titans though will lose all it’s worth if people get it when killing Algalon at such an easy state, and there won’t be any differentiation with everyone else who has Herlad of the Titans, so I really hope blizzard doesn’t degrade the worthiness of this achievement. The players who put the effort for this extra edge deserve for this title to preserve it’s worthiness permanently.

Won’t happen. The elite class cried that the same thing happen to P1 titles once P2 released. Raid titles don’t make you special, only the grinding ones do… if you need to be validated then just brag about your title ingame saying how elite you are that you got it before the nerf and everyone will be impressed.

Blizzard already took the initiative to make achievements that correspond to killing bosses in Hard-Mode pre-nerf, example the Cutting Edge: Ulduar feat of strength achievement, original wrath didn’t have that, and I am glad Blizzard added this time. This indicates that Blizzard is indeed rewarding the players who accomplish hard mode content and might further consider rewarding players. Cutting Edge: Ulduar is nice, but to further compliment that, my suggestion goes with Herlad of the Titans too.

Ah yes the achievement that you can still do on retail to this day surely feels special

As I already pointed out, Blizzard are doing things differently, and my suggestion is towards classic, not retail, so your point is irrelevant.

They didn’t remove mounts from T7 meta achievements with release of Ulduar so the trend is to keep rewards available. Also, the whole point of ilvl requirement is to preserve value of this title. Removing it because of the nerfs would go against whole idea of achievements requiring specific items.

No one was saying anything about removing the ilvl gear requirement of Herald of the Titans mate.

There wont be any value to that title if the encounter needed to get it, falls over if you look at it wrong.

Killing algalon-10 with 245 and 239 items. OMG that’s some huge effort right there. Wtf am i even reading

I understand it’s easier than back in the day due to the increase in item stats / ilevel, but my point is about how cheese it will be if people get this achievement with their eyes closed doing a nerfed Algalon. The idea is to maintain challenge relevant to this achievement.

Curve already has this pre-nerf statement in it

This.

Also, Cutting edge.

I personally do not care for taking off my 252 pieces just to get a title. Also why remove that title in perticular? Just remove Starcaller Astralwalker instead? Its not like having a handfull of HM Items makes a difference.

Ya but curve is not as visible as a Title, unless someone inspects and compares achievements.

It probably won’t make a difference for hardcore players, but I am advocating for the title to be granted in non-nerf environment, I am not necessarily asking for it to be removed completely, I am also suggesting a toggle if possible. The title is unique, in addition to Starcaller but with gear criteria.

Considering titles are purely cosmetic and like 90% of people who have them never actually did raids it doesnt really matter … if you want proper people you are going to inspect them anyway …

Herald of the Titans can still be achieved to this day in retail.

Originally Herald of Titans allowed a maximum of ilvl226 for armor pieces and ilvl232 for weapons. Now it allows ilvl239 for armor and 245 for weapons. In the original WOTLK you couldn’t get any ilvl245 items until Trial of the Crusader.

Herald is substantially easier, all you have to do is not equip your ICC quality ilvl252 gear, who cares. It’s a joke compared to the original achievement.
