As I was gathering Fool’s Caps in Pandaria the rewarded XP dropped like 10 times something like from 1500 to 150. It was like I got a Fool’s Cap with normal XP reward and the next one I got was with reduced XP. Nothing changed but that 1 skill point.
I was level 80 and my skill was probably around 65, was trying to max it before I move to Cata herbalism.
I started the quest to go to Mount Hyjal after that and I am currently getting 148 XP per herb.
I’d like to know what’s the issue as this seems very frustrating.
But I was gathering at max exp and literally the next, same kind of herb I got, within the same level and profession skill awarded me less experience. This makes 0 sense.
If I observed this correctly, in Cataclysm and Pandaria the XP reward of mining and herbalism is bound to the profession skill (and the specific herb/ore).
This seems kind of inconsequent as I did not observe this in any other addon (I gain more experience from classic herbs if I recall it correctly).
Another thing I observed was that Heartblossom rewarded regular exp and Twilight Jasmine rewarded reduced amount, this again makes 0 sense as the zone with the TJ requires higher level. Someone was lazy or didn’t care to update values.
Also archaeology in my current level 90+ in Draenor rewards less exp than archaeology in Azeroth, again weird at best…
I just watched, what amount of XP Pandaria and Cataclysm herbalism yields (Level 86 - herbalism maxed up to Pandaria).
Pandaria:
4160 XP: Snow Lily, Silkweed, Rain Poppy, Desecrated Herb
304 XP: Green Tea Leaf, Fools Cap
Cataclysm:
4160 XP: Heartblossom
304 XP: Cinderbloom, Whiptail, Twilight Jasmine, Stormvine, Azshara’s Veil
If this is intended, I am really amazed, it is more then 13 times the XP for a part of the herbs. The lesser herbs reward XP on par with classic herbs, in contrast Golcclover and Lichbloom from WotLK reward 384 XP.
