Herb/node de-spawn timer

I was wondering what todays function is of the herb/node de-spawn timer.

i know that in the past they increased the de-spawn timer so multiple people can mine or herb a herb/node a few min after he first tap.

but why not remove that timer all together?

reason is for me that its quite annoying if you behind a herb bot all your mines and herb disappear when you try to mine them.

now this isn’t a disaster but just curios what function the de-spawn timer still has of when the first person taps a node or herb and why they just cant remove the time limit all together?

So the bot can just sit at a node 24/7 and just continue to mine/herb?

not really i think you misunderstood.

I’m talking about the de spawn time after the first tap not the de-spawn time for when you herbed or mined the node or herb that would still be normal .

so staying at 1 herb spot after you herb it will still be the same and you have to wait for it to come back just like it is now.

this more about the de-spawn timer after the first tap that I’m curios about
so more for the other people that come after you after you mine or herbed

How would that work? Currently when it’s harvested it starts a timer/harvest limit and then vanishes. This means when it re-appears it can be harvested again.

How would you use it more than once if it never despawns?

just like it is now only without the time limit.

if you herb a herb now for example it will disappear for you but for me it still be around for a couple of min.

i would say that that timer would be unnecessary.

why not let that herb stay for me until i herb it and meanwhile use a global zone timer for it to respawn back for you.

so after you have herb it just like how you herb normally it will come back after a while.

just instead of each herb or node have a individual respawn timer after being tapped or mined it will be a zone timer (saves also processing :stuck_out_tongue: )

this way you wont have what i call the “ghost herb” phenomenon when you want to herb a herb but it disappears before you because some1 already herbed before you a few minutes ago

I fully understand where you are coming from here. Unfortunately, what you are suggesting would mean that bots would have even more access to nodes. Imagine if a bot is behind you. If those nodes don’t despawn then it actually benefits the bot.

I know with addons these days gathering mats is so trivial and simply requires time but if there is no competition at all for nodes, the market values will plummet. Being able to farm all nodes at your leisure would increase the number of mats listed in the auction house by a lot in my opinion.

It’s definitely annoying to miss a node, but if I am flying around a zone farming and I can’t find nodes or am stuck behind another farmer, I usually give up and go somewhere else. If someone has more patience than me then they deserve the nodes.

Personally, not knowing that a node will be there when I am farming, keeps me farming.

well i personal don’t think will be a issue that much since most bots are 24/7 automated so they will continue what there doing now and most are on a timer so they can gather fresh respawned herbs anyway so i don’t see there increase rise by that much.

i got a bit of a feeling bots wont bother either or as they continue either way
kinda miss the mini games you had in legion like chasing the fox or attacked by bees for extra herbs or ores those were often systems bots couldn’t really well adept to

It would be nice if they removed the tapped time limit.
It wouldn’t really change anything, it would just remove the inconvenience and annoyance of Ghost Herbs.

It wouldn’t change that you’ll get less or more, because after you collect the material, its gone for you until it globally resets.
And its not even caused by the opposite faction. So whats the point of the tap timer?

I agree, the node despawn should be removed completely and node taps reworked. The far better way is to move nodes from being taps per shard/phase to tap per account. So if I tap a specific node, it will despawn for me and all chars on my account and I won’t be able to tap in again until it respawns.
However, other players should still see and interact with the node indefinitely until they tap the node themselves.

If this increases the quality of life too much for the players, the devs should at least add a despawn timer pause whenever a different player than the initial tapper is within 100 metres of the node. Nodes should NEVER despawn in front of other players than the tappers.
