Heritage armour annoys me

Not because it’s taken loads of expansions to get thru (still waiting on panda!) but it’s how erratic the philosophy is.

Some races have robe options, some races have multiple colourations (hello purple light forged set).

Some races have some weapons and some don’t.

Some suit certain classes and some don’t.

I love Draenei but was so disappointed in the new set it’s like a mish mash. I love the shoulders and gloves but the rest of set doesn’t go. It should’ve been a full crystal set and another set that matches the old bc concept art. It’s like they took a bit of that and a bit of justicar set and pieced bits together. Compare that too light forged and it’s like it’s from different games. Also would’ve been nice to have an updated hammer of the narru with different colour crystals similar to the prot paladin skin from the artifact weapons.

I really hope panda isn’t a disappointment I hope it looks like a lu bu type of set.

It would also be nice if the similar race type could cross wear heritage, there’s no reason normal Draenei and light forged couldn’t have shared their heritage. But let’s be fair it should’ve just been subraces anyway.

I agree, heritage armor is all over the place, and varies a lot in quality, and the lack of matching weapons is so annoying. It honestly feels like heritage armor was a innitially good idea Blizzard locked themselves into, and didn’t really wanna follow through on. At the very least each set should have come with a arsenal of weapons, and class appropriate pieces such as robes ect. Not to mention some of the more recent sets are just bad and low effort compared to the BFA allied races and some of the early primary races sets.

Draenei one is the worst in the game imo. What makes this the most shocking to me is Draenei npcs have some of the best outfits in game. The theme Draenei have with all the crystal stuff etc could have been glorious instead we got that… Even the Draenei in the TBC trailer looks amazing, even going for that style would have been better.

vulpera heritage is also very “meh”… I Don’t like draenei either.

The end result is I just don’t use any heritage armor for my chars so far. They aren’t good. Luckily we have 10’000+ tmog options to suit all our needs.

I think the heritage mog is more about journey than the mog.

Same for my goblin. I dont think it looks bad at all. But a pilot outfit fits wich class fantasy exactly?

Of all my characters i only think the orc one works with most classes?

Yeah I wasn’t really a fan of it either…

It’s one of those sets that doesn’t really match anything else in game, except maybe some zereth mortis sets… so you kind of need to wear THAT full set, to appreciate it. So really… the new Draenei set is more for “hardcore Draenei lore people”, who would wear it for “what it symbolises”, and not for “how it looks”.

I really like the Daenei heritage armor on my Draenei mage, so I disagree with comments in this thread. Probably my favourite heritage armor so far.
I agree however heritage armors really don’t suit all classes/specs, for example the Draenei one won’t suit most classes imo. Same with lightforged one doesn’t suit casters.

I actually just seen the priest tier set in TWW and im jealous that this a priest set and not a lightforged heritage set lol

Yeah, I wish there would be a more standardized formula for each race.

  • 2 weapons (1hand/2hand each) / 1 shield
  • Armor set with and without robe

The fact we dont have that lightforged spear from legion is frustrating too!

pokes complaining Draenei with a stick

You got a gorgeous hearthstone! Where is a riftwalker hearthstone for Void Elves, eh?!

actually im stuck at last tauren heritage step. the enemy hit like a truck. and i need an alchemy quest in TB!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What I specifically dislike about the set is how it fails to be either casual clothing or armour. Out of all the heritage armours, we have a couple of really standout designs

  • The Mag’har and Orc armours have really been designed with Orcs on a battlefield in mind. No frills, just what you would imagine an Orc to wear into battle
  • Both Gnome and Goblin armours are more than a nod to the respective race’s engineering prowess, with a cleaner industrial design for the Gnomes and dirty backyard look for the Goblins. But both are still functionally armour and would be what a Gnome or Goblin soldier would wear.
  • The Blood Elf and Zandalari armours are clearly more ceremonial kit. They’re not designed for frontline combat, but rather worn on special occasions or when patrolling the capital city. But they look spectacular.
  • Taking this a bit further, the Night Elf armour is clearly not designed for a battlefield either, but rather acting as a guerilla fighter in the forests where bulky armour would hinder you and make too much noise while moving about.
  • The Kul Tiran armour set, I think, is on the extreme end of the spectrum, where it is not armour but rather just clothing to protect you from harsh weather at sea. But like the others it fits the racial theme perfectly and while I do not like the Kul Tiran model I adore their heritage armour.

Buuut… all of those have been designed with a clear mission statement in mind. What is the race all about when it comes to their particular form of warfare? Whether it is the savage simplicity of the Orcs, or the highly disciplined regiments of the Blood Elves or the seafaring Kul Tirans - the armour always reflects the particular specialty of the race. And this is what I miss from the Draenei armour. While I am glad they didn’t just put out another Paladin/Priest armour, there is something lacking about the heritage set. And I think I know why it feels weird. Like I had mentioned at the beginning, it is trying to be both casual clothing and armour while failing to be either. From the heritage quest we get that this is supposed to be traditional garb worn for the Tishamaat, but I do not think it should have heavy armour parts. It should be soft and flowing, if it is supposed to be sacred ceremonial garb.

Someone on Reddit mentioned adding the TP sarong/cape combo:

It’s not perfect, but it helps to balance the set, where it used to be very “hip heavy” before, with skinny little legs and a smol torso sticking out from both ends of the belt/skirt combo :dracthyr_nervous_animated:
