Heritage Draenei and Troll

  1. Use the new and shiny “coat” models for the cloak instead of the short tunic look
  2. Use the “draped cloak” shoulder armour (as seen on the trading post) instead of the weird floating things. Add crystals or runes or whatever, just get rid of the floating shoulder pads.
  3. Remove the helm and replace with either a hood or the Naaru rune
  4. Remove the bulk around the hips and give them more slender boots. Currently the armour creates an awkward A shape that is not particularly flattering, especially if you remove the weird shoulders.

The concept art had so much potential, and they chose to go with that. I didn’t expect anything and I am still disappointed.

I dont think it was official concept art, not for the heritage set in any case.

I don’t know if it was official or not, it is an old picture back from TBC days AFAIR. This has popped up again because the community heavily requested this look over the usual “we’ll just give them a Paladin set” fare Draenei get from Blizzard.
I will not say the Draenei set is low effort, but it just looks bad. Like some commenters had posted on Wowhead, it looks like some standard WoD quest gear instead of an iconic look for Draenei.

I remember seeing it in so many discussions about heritage. It does look a lot better than what we got.

I’m pretty convinced that the person who made the draenei armor was either overworked, doesn’t care about draenei at all, or both. I don’t know how else you make their helm clip. It’s know among draenei players that 90% of helms look bad due to horn clipping issues. You’d expect that for a draenei only armor they’d manage to avoid that.

I agree, the troll one kind of feels like it’s on the right track apart from that awful sock hanging off their faces. It looks better on the male version than the female.

But the Draenei one is just awful. A robe style would have looked better than this odd short version. And don’t get me started on that daft helm :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

They should remove the helm on dreanei and just make it that rune thingy, I’d be fine with that. The things that bother me the most on the female version is the feet, it’s super strectchy and more unfinished looking compared to the male feet. And then the belt, the belt is awful, too big and clunky looking.

Troll one is fine, better on males because even though they’ve used a bandeau for females it has some cloth below as well which makes it look like a shirt and imo would be better without because Trolls just don’t really wear that much armour. The Orc female version was done very well, for comparison. If you put a basic leather harness on, the outfit looks better (apart from the pixels).

The hat reminds me of a specific loa I can’t remember the name of but an old Tiki mask in game is preferable over this… cloth. Still, I never wear hats anyway. The shield is fine but the trading post one was better and -why- are we not getting a little warglaive?

It certainly feels like the artist in question appreciated the Draenei a lot less than being able to mark the issue as completed and moving on to the next task. A lot of things in Dragonflight feel like they’re the product of a very understaffed and overworked team.

Well for me preferring to play draenei than most other races the armour looks terrible.

Helmet clipping.
The shoulder armour just looks like they felt the need to put something there.
The crystal on the chest is off center, maybe that’s how it meant to look but it just looks bad.
The short skirt doesnt look right either, and it looks to shorter on female vs male.
The hoof armour looks like a lot of ankle armour on draenei feemale, stretched down the leg. Also the female vs male one where the male one stops a bit above the hoof which again just looks really weird.
The gloves and wrist armour again looks stretched on both male and female.

All in all the whole set looks like it was slapped together by someone who did so in one afternoon on a human model. It wasn’t designed for draenei at all. Nor was it designed by someone who cares.

Troll helmet just looks like someone put an Elephant with trunk underwear on their head.

You can look it up and tell me i’m wrong. :joy:

I really like the troll mask.

What pre-reqs are there?
Level 50 probably, Exalted rep with your race maybe?

I have a Troll Shaman (created in 2005) that I started leveling to do this, he’s 45 now so will be 50 very soon. Don’t think he has much rep though as he was sitting at level 14 (then 8) for years. But I can farm TBC dungeons with a tabard if needs be.

I mean, it’s alright…

Thing is, the Concept Artist who made most of the other Heritage sets doesn’t work at Blizzard anymore.

You have to have a level 60 on your account and be level 50. That’s it.

I like them both…they are both a little basic but TBH thats what I want from my heritage armor! Something that looks like an NPC would wear it (that I can then customize and mog with extras/changes).

Only thing is them helms…draenei is just a copy of a questing item from an old expansion and doesnt really ‘fit’.
Troll is ridiculous! Why does it look like they have sneezed and a giant trail of snot is hanging down their faces!? give people the option of mask without snot bubble, please!

Looks like they stopped half way done with the troll one, like leveling set for lvl 10s in classic wow, just go to scetchfab and look at the rokhan model from like 10years ago and once again dream about what could have been. Btw is the Draenie one only for shamans who played wod or am i wrong here?
