Hero talents

Anybody else dislike their hero talents and feel that Blizz probably shouldnt even have bothered??

As a BM hunter I obviously went for pack leader and was hoping for some real class/spec identity…

what I got was a bit of a DPS boost and some extra utility. Nothing that screams ‘master of beasts’ to me!
You honestly could of chucked those abilities in the regular talent trees.

When I think of what it could of been…
we should of been like demolocks, but with animals instead of demons! Summoning hordes of rats to gnaw at ankles or a sudden swoop attack by a giant eagle.

just feeling sadly disappointed right now. :frowning:

I don’t dislike Pack leader, but I don’t think it’s particularly thematic either.
It just makes my standard build a little better. That’s fine. I already knew not to expect much from hero talents.

In a perfect world that Hero talent would have been a Rexxar fantasy come to live.

I’m not a fan and they don’t seem to add anything for me.

Rogue ones seem especially unlikeable, or maybe it’s just me. Who knows.

I would have preferred a more customizable character, more options, not a soulbind or artifact-like path where you end up getting all nodes anyway. Are they even talents anymore, besides the branding?

Hero talents feel like one of those things, where the devs have a really good idea for a couple of specific class fantasies, then realize they gotta do it for all classes, and then they just come up with a bunch of random stuff to fill the gaps. Same as with Legion artifacts, covenant abilities and heritage armors.

hero talents are divided into dog and looks good. mine are boring af passive abilities

we got convoke during shadowlands which was BIG and now passive dot you see on the nameplates.
there is a talent that trash deals arcane damage but they never thought about changing the color from red to blue. for example. its so lazy done

I do think they’ve created a rod of their own back by calling these Hero Talents.

They could have managed expections slightly better by calling these something less grand. Hybrid talents, Flavour talents, whatever…

Totally agree. The name did set our expectations way too high, everyone thought we were getting all the little sub classes we’ve been requesting for ages (at least some of us)

I’m playing with DK and picked the Rider talent. I really like the feel of it. Finally we get to play on our trusty steed. I don’t know why this wasn’t a thing back then since War2, War3 and even previous expansions of wow showcased DKs on a mount all the time, but better late then never. Playing in a group with other riders will be strange tho.

Hero talents combined with the new talent trees open up such an easy avenue for evergreen progression that isn’t borrowed power

It’s so easy for them to just make 2-3 new hero talent sets, or to add two rows of regular talents for a new expac and then it’s done, no more artifacts, no more azerite, no more whatever. They even get to explore more subclasses to boot and make more underutilized ways of playing a class/spec more viable. It’s a fantastic feature

You might feel like that now, but what about 3-4 expansions down the line, when all the classes are so bloated, they are gonna have to do another pruning and rework the whole thing yet again. Dont get me wrong, im not saying borrowed power is the answer, it deffinitly is not, and i have no desire to see it make a return.

I think the real question is, do we really need new talents and abilities every expansion? Isnt it enough to raise the level cap and get our increased power from higher item level gear?

no blademaster = it sucks

After levelling my druid I was like ‘what is even the use of hero talents?’ because they literally add NOTHING new to my class (balance). Then I looked into other classes and… the disparity is INSANE.

Here you have classes with cool added visuals AND added functionality, like DK or Warlock, and then you have… a few passive changes. … That’s it. That’s literally it.

I really hope this gets amended. Because right now, even though I will always main my druid, I am contemplating switching to Warlock for the coming time.

no, i like them, and the fact, that there is no grind behind it.

easily to pick up. just a slight passive power creep, what isnt as bad as bfa corruptions for example

Some hero talents are just terrible designed, like pack leader, i think the only “okayish/cool” hero talent when it comes to hunter is maybe dark ranger

hunter was a bit unlucky when it comes to hero talents

Bm hunter is a Joke with the current stats-performance and show the Intelligence of people behind development of the class-spec.

I mean look at this spec …

Aoe ??? 1 multishoot and the pet is doing cleave…nothing else … and just doing your rotation … has synergy with kill command .
Most of the Specs have 3 skills+ improvement talents while Bm hunter has the cleave …and you can pick 1 skill that is explosive shoots ) (Don’t forget that the difference from MM~Bm is near 1.7x )

  • Comparing hero talent’s ?? Multishoot increase dmg by your next multishoot by 25%
The multishoot dmg at 576 ilvl is doing 4.900 dmg … and the dmg increase is almost at 6k + dmg …
Majority of the npc in heroic are from 7 mill to 15+ mil… // And it doesn’t even increase pet dmg … so imagine your multishoot hit for 6 k while the npc have ~10 mill health
    I barely find any logic…

  • Wild Attack ~ every 3rd hit is a guaranteed crit ~ another talent that doesn’t make Sense since at 576 i can have up to 30% crit and as further getting better gear the talent become more and more useless ( Unless the boost is going to further increase by dmg% but i doubt )

  • Pack coordination ~ another Op talent that is 1 to 1.5% increase dmg .

  • Cull of the herd increase bleed dmg by 30% for 6 sec after using Kill shoot …
Kill shoot …usable on enemies with less than 20%
Bleeds from the Pets in a 5 min fight ~ 0.9% (Barbed shoot 4.2%)

Add this up and you have a talent that is a 0.2% to 0.3% doing the math’s .

My Warrior end up on heroic with 1 to 1.1 mill average dmg ~(The highest burst is at 4.7 mill dmg on aoe )

My Hunter end up on heroic with 500k to 600k average dmg ~ (Highest burst 1.2 mill on aoe )

I have 3 Alts at 80 lvl . My Hunter is almost 480 ilvl now and the others are 456 and 470 ilvl …
With the current stats Bm is like 30% to 40% from the other Spec .

I love the Paladin hero talent. It gives me a button and pressing it will bring BIG NUMBERS on the screen. All the other talents are related to this big bonk talent one way or another.

I have no idea what the other class/spec hero talents are. Probably leveling my Shammy or druid next

Just another joke. They should have called this exp The Joke iso TWW.

Yeah, pretty disappointed. For Fury Warrior I can choose Mountain Thane or Slayer. I don’t feel like a Mountain Thane (I don’t draw power from the earth/storms), so I went Slayer (I do feel like a vicious Warrior).

But all talents are passive and don’t really seem to add exciting stuff (or maybe it is too subtle and I don’t notice? I am not really a min/maxer). While I don’t want to have them all active (I already have a lot of buttons to push) maybe one could have been there?

Next to that a several talents require or enhance Bladestorm. Which is an ability I don’t have :slightly_frowning_face:

Technically I could pick it, but I just don’t like the ability. I did try it again to see if it got improved but still not for me.

I like to push ability buttons and have my character do stuff. E.g. a chop or quick burst with the weapons or do a shout. Bladestorm just makes me spin for a few seconds not being able to do anything else which I think is boring.

So yeah, I will just fill the circles, but not exicited for it.

It’s extremely hit and miss. DK, Warlock, Mage and Paladin all have really good hero talents that visually stand out and are fun to use. Then there are a few others they put effort into like Voidweaver, Conduit and Scalecommander for Priest, Monk and Evoker, respectively.

Then you have the likes of Hunter, Rogue, Druid and Demon Hunter that got screwed over with visually uninteresting hero talents that merely add background buffs.

It’s all over the place, and your enjoyment will 100% be dependant upon which class/spec you usually play. If I was a Rogue main I wouldn’t even bother playing them this expansion. DK gets to summon the horsemen and do mounted combat while Rogues get a passive numbers bump when they use finishing moves. Wow. Is this a hero spec for mathmaticians?
