Please ask yourself are you satisfied with open world content, if you are, can we get blizzard to make it even better, or at least more classical for those nostalgic players.
The way I see it is more content = better open world, because it can satisfy more variety of players.
What if they return farming in specific areas, like timbermaw winterspring bears in vanilla, can we have more of that in every zone like 3-4 areas where you can grind materials / buffs - it can be flask or sigil or anything new. Or to grind reputation the old way, kill x number of npc, every 5th drops ring or some item, then return x20 or more rings to the NPC and he rewards with reputation + marks each time you return a stack, and with those marks + gold you can buy all kinds of items, even gear or professions recipes.
That’s just my opinion but you see, if they return classic way of open world, I think it would be much better because grind is good, and this kind of grind is endless, which makes people run around those areas for a very long time without stopping ever till end of expansion, and we need more content like that, because current content is very short lived - you grind something for 1-2 weeks then it becomes useless, but if they return grind for specific buffs you can always grind that before going to raid or dungeon or even BG, because why not get buffs on top of food buff and flask buff.
I don’t know, but I think it is much better to have more grinds like that because at some point you will be bored and you won’t have enough content, so making gold is very useful way of creating content, and with more ways to earn gold is I think better quality of life for all players.
Please be innovative and write more suggestions like that -farming in open world, how you see it. If (as I hope) devs read this, we can make them to make that kind of content -if for any reason some players do not like this, they can just skip it and not do it, as it is not mandatory, now please for players as nostalgic as me, please make this in game…
Best gear should only provided to bla bla bla… Beware some folks will tell you this.
In all honesty I would rather slay hundred boars or mining an hour for gear upgrades then running another stupid m+. And I’m with you! We need more open world content for professions, reputations and many more activities that aren’t influenced by esport
I must admit a substantial degree of disgruntlement with zone design which began to change around WoD. The zones had very specific questing paths and everything had a correct way to get to. Mob density started to be overwhelming with mobs everywhere, not just in questing areas.
Frustrating navigation and irritating mob density has made the game less fun for me in recent expansions.
They have talked about making bigger zones with more quests in Dragonflight. Hopefully they won’t be mazes with mob everywhere. Fingers crossed.
I miss having specific quest areas where you had to fight or sneak your way into the centre kill a big bad and get out again. Whether it be a cave or a tower / fortress. These day you’re fighting mobs everywhere and they have to make them fairly easy as there are so many. We need fewer mobs but make them a bit tougher, so when you do have to fight it’s better fighting.
I’m not opposed to grinding, but I don’t like areas where there’s lots of people running around competing for the same mobs. That just ruins all the fun. And that will happen when you create certain areas just for such a purpose. Not to mention the bots that will sprout up in such places.
But yes, we need more and more varied world content for sure.
though gear will be capped at 252 - which is okish in my eyes for open world content
there is nothing wrong with having you alt nr 7 or nr 12 on 252 itlv
we could benefit greatly though from reimplementation of several VP gear that is gated weekly with itlv of hc raid achievable by doing mix of world content and normal/hc dungeons.
sadly it will never happen because blizzard hates casual players
I don’t want to play classic world of witchcraft, I want to play game where I can feel free as in retail, you might not understand this and it is all right, because you are not supposed to understand this, but this way of content (open world content) won’t affect anyone in any way, it will just bring more oldschool approach to game…
That’s simply not true.
I mainly do world content. That’s what I love most about WoW. But competing for mobs is not fun and leads to frustration and anger.
So this particular way of grinding just doesn’t work for me. Now, IF the devs were to do something like this it means that that is time and resources being diverted from other parts of world content which I likely WOULD like. So it does affect me (and other like-minded people).
I would simply rather see them spending their time and resources on other world content stuff. That’s all. We can agree to disagree; that’s fine.
you won’t compete with anyone, loot is shared, and to mention again if they are elites devs will counter hyper farms easily, make them hit hard actually, like warbringers, there will always be 10-20 players farming them at each given time, like endless sands area in ZM, I don’t see anything bad with it, we need classical approach to mmo genre, because atm there is nothing good with grind, we need casual laidback grind where you can grind something for hours and hours without drop of quality in those items. I would also say, leave rares and treasures to be part of open world, but add more to it, it won’t harm anyone, if you don’t like it so be it, but don’t deny us nostalgic people have some fun too, it is not about nostalgic as it is how good that design was.
EDIT: what kind of open world people like you like?
That won’t happen. There will be people from the other faction tagging mobs.
It happens now, it will happen then. It sucks. It’s not fun.
That’s even worse. No thank you.
I do.
So like I said: We can agree to disagree.
Disagree.
No? What about ZM? It’s full of grindy stuff.
The rep there - grind.
The currencies there - grind.
The mounts there - grind.
The pets there - grind.
And some devs have stated that ZM was sort of their try-out and they want to do stuff like that on a bigger scale with DF. Sounds like plenty of grinding to me honestly.
I will object if I believe that that sort of content would be detrimental to MY fun.
And that’s what I believe in this case. Sorry not sorry.
but it is clear you don’t understand what open world content should look like, it is more then grinding rares and treasures for currency that you would use to upgrade gear… lame if you like current open world, or same content but harder.
I wish there was more open world content. Legion style invasions maybe, but instead of demons, pirates trying to take over Booty Bay or Ratchet. Or Ogre invasions in Hillsbrad for example, loads more to think of. With some nice rewards and scaling. This for all content, past and current. Also World Quests for old content, like the ones we had in Legion. For rep, gear, gold, mats anything.
Also maybe some new quests every couple of months, to make the world more dynamic.
Also maybe some more stuff in the air or water.
just randomize it all so there’s stuff to do in open world everywhere every day.
Maybe throw in some world bosses everywhere that also scale.
Make questing a little less linear, would also be nice.
Soo much they could do to make open world more engaging for a casual player like me
man leave me alone, you follow me to every post with your compulsive drive and putting your disagreements every time, even on other posts, that’s how compulsive you are, this open world content that I added is very good for any kind of player, it just adds more and more rather then being same content every xpac, after these 2 options you can just add more and with time, open world content will be perfect, it is like saying gw2 open world content is bad, because my idea of open world content was and always will be similar to gw2 open world…
Yep, no change there, remember the same topics (twice) from the same OP about open world, and pointedly refused to understand any other point than their own.
I reply to you. And yeah if you give bad ideas, I will call you out on it. That’s what happens on a forum. If you feel like I ‘follow you every post’ then you must be posting ‘a lot of bad ideas’.
Don’t make this personal.
That’s just not true, dude.
That’s your opinion. Not fact.
Well there you have it… I don’t like GW2 style open world content.
So there. We disagree. I’m not saying you’re wrong for liking what you like. I’m just making it clear that I would not like that sort of thing in WoW. Why can’t you just accept that?
